Phenomenal...loving this story! I love the insight into the characters minds...most specially Shivvay...he is so complex...so straight yet so convoluted...I am sure it must take efforts to write his thoughts. Would love to read Annika's perspective too...please update soon!
Anika's pov
I sat at the poolside watching sahil complete his homework. It had been an entire week since tia had left. But it felt a lot longer than that. Rohit had left the next day, despite rudra's and omkara's requests to stay back. She had looked on surprised as they had pestered him quite a while. He had simply looked at her and told her he'd be leaving. She knew that voice. She did not dare to complain. He had asked her for the keys to her old house and she had handed it wordlessly. Her mind flashed back to their argument, her heart still heavy.
Pinky aunty had been badmouthing her, despite everything. Shakti uncle had been trying to defend her, but it just instigated his wife who was convinced that Anika wanted to separate her son and her husband from her. While Anika respected pinky aunty, it still hurt to listen to her taunts. She had stood silently listening to the two of them unseen by either until Rohit had stridden in.
"Aap sabh itne andhe kaise ho saktein hain? Dekh nahi sakhtein, usne Shivaay ko kaise mujh se door kardiya? Arey uss ladki ney Shivaay sey shaadi kar li jab wo khud engaged thi! Aur phir usne daksh ko kuch kaha bhi nahi. woh tho daksh ney humme sari baat bataan di. Jab maa baap nahi hotein naa to bache aise hi bhigad jaatein hain. Mujhe koi surprise nahi hoga agar wo daksh ke saat already..."
"That is enough Mrs. Oberoi! Don't you dare utter another word against Anika. Trust me you do not want to know the consequences. If you can't be grateful, then don't be...pardon me uncle...a fool. Are you so blind? Can you really not see what she has done for you? For your son? What you feel for your son isn't love. Its obsession. Things you couldn't do, the blue blood that you DO NOT have, you just hope that Shivaay will compensate that for you. You want the perfect bahu. But you don't care if that is the perfect wife for him. Your kanji eyed grandson, the one that you have been harping about, he doesn't exist. What you don't realize is that your son wouldn't have gone ahead with that marriage. He can't. But you blame anika. Talk to your son. For once in your life find out what he wants. As for as Anika, she leaves with me. Today."
He had dragged her to her room and flung open her cupboard, pulling out her clothes and dumping them into a suitcase. She had stared at him in shock while he kept cursing under his breath. She had watched him wordlessly until he had grabbed her hand and tried to drag her again.
"Where are you taking me Rohit?"
"We are going home Anika."
"But..."
"Don't anika. Stop. When you told me he could do nothing about it, that things would eventually become fine, I believed you. But this has crossed all limits of sanity. Maybe they are blind. But what the hell is wrong with you?! We ll leave. Its not worth it."
"He's my husband." I had replied, "This is home. Pinky aunty is just upset." I had tried to explain.
"I see. I'm giving you a choice. Rohit or the Oberois? I don't understand how you can bare being a doormat. But I won't stay here to watch it."
"Rohit..."
"Me or him."
"Please" I had mumbled holding his hand. He had wrenched his hand out of mine and looked on emotionlessly, a look I had seen before in a certain kanji eyes.
He had stalked out of the room stopping at the entrance. Shivaay had stood there, his eyes unfocused.
"She deserves more."
As he left the room, Shivaay took a step towards me. I put my hand up to stop him.
"I don't want to talk." I would have no answer to give him if he asked me why I chose to stay.
He had packed his bag and left within the next 10 minutes. She had called him. Sent numerous messages. She had finally worked up the courage to go to meet him. But he hadn't been there. She had hurried home and called Omkara, asking him to help her find Rohit. But he hadn't been able to find him. Shivaay had shut her out. He hadn't spoken to her. Pinky aunty had filled him on Rohit's yelling, and he had frozen her out. She had seen him looking at her numerous times, probably wondering what he had to do with her. She often wondered if he wanted out. If he couldn't be with her anymore. She had considered leaving, but she kept finding excuses to stay.
She sighed, helping sahil stick flowers onto his project.
"Di I'll just be back. Rudra bhaiya told he's taking sowmya out. I'm going to warn him to not hurt her." She smiled, shaking her head at her brother's antics. She still couldn't believe he had a crush on sowmya.
Sahil hero worshipped Rohit. So when she tearfully told him what had happened, she had been shocked to see sahil react nonchantly. He had told her that ultimately the choice was hers. And that Rohit was wrong to give her an ultimatum. But she missed him. By god, she missed the both of them. She missed her husband.
Something made her look up. Her heart clenched as she saw him stand there. He seemed curiously unkempt. A little haggard, slightly paler than usual. She stood up and walked towards him. An action she couldn't seem to control. She often wondered if he could pull her closer simply by staring at her for long enough. Scratch that. She didn't wonder, she knew.
She stopped infront of him as he brushed a strand of hair of her face. She felt curiously paralyzed by the motion. Like all her nerves were working overtime at the place where he had touched her, and paralyzed the rest of her. She swallowed deeply as his hands stopped at her nape.
"Are you going to talk to me?" his throaty voice broke her reverie as she unconsciously stepped back. He dropped his hand and she frowned. Wasn't he the one who had frozen her out?
"I did not stop talking. You were the one who did." I mumbled, trying not to get my hopes up.
"I missed you." His single admission sends me flying into his arms. I wrap my arms around him tightly even as he stumbles back. I can't back bite the sob that escapes when he hugs me back. The last few days, I've felt more alone than I have my whole life.
"I've missed you more." I mutter, gloriously buried in his chest. He rubs my back.
"Then why the hell didn't you talk. You told me you didn't want to talk"
"You didn't either. I told I didn't want to talk then, not never " I mutter petulantly.
"I thought you regretted your choice." His hoarse voice makes me look up. What if he feels the same about me?
"I was upset. I don't like discussing things when I am upset." I only half-lie, hugging him again. Maybe we'll be fine.
"I miss him Shivaay." I feel him stiffen against me but don't stop " So much. Please find him for me. Please. I've called all his friends. Tried everything I can. I just can't find him. I can't live without him." I whisper.
Shivaay pull out of my embrace and looks at me for a long second.
"He's downstairs." It takes a second for the implication of that sentence to sink in.
I run downstairs not waiting to see if Shivaay is following me.
