Chapter 16: The Dining Room Seating Arrangements and The O'Bro Meeting Arrangements - Both made to bring about a major change.

Shivvay composed himself, stood up, walked into his room and locked away the USB. That done he paused in his room for a few minutes to close his eyes and just inhale the scent of jasmine, wild roses and Annika all blended into one. It had been something he had started doing off late and although he could not put a finger on it a certain feeling of peace washed all over him when he did that. Once done he went downstairs to breakfast with the family. All through breakfast he was preoccupied with what he had uncovered in the past few hours.

I sat at breakfast in a kind of daze, replaying all that I had seen on the USB just a few minutes ago, as I watched Annika happily giggle and discuss with Saumya and Prinku something very interesting they were watching on Saumya's phone. I could not help but smile at seeing her so happy and carefree.

Suddenly I was startled by the sound of Tia's voice crooning, "Shivvay Baby..",so loudly in my ears that it felt like nails scraping down the blackboard and I clenched my teeth at that sound. I never had a problem with Tia or her 'Shivvay Baby' before then why was the woman suddenly getting on my nerves. It was not fair to her considering I had accepted her as the perfect match for me.

As she slid her arm around mine and leaned very close to me to grab my attention I was surprised to get the mild case of michmiches', as my wife calls them, at her touch. It was akin to a snake wrapping itself around my arm and I almost pulled my arm away instinctively.

Now I was really concerned that there might have been a bug I may have caught when I slept in Daksh's room last night. What the hell was happening to me??? This was Tia for heaven's sake and she had held my arm a hundred times before this. Where were these thoughts and feelings coming from???

"Ahem!", said Dadi loudly as she cleared her throat to grab everyone's attention.

Once she was sure all eyes were on her she continued in her patent stern matriarchal voice, " Tia beta...", she said as she looked directly at Tia, "Shivvay is not divorced from Annika yet and for you to be hanging on to him like you presently are is really very disrespectful to his present wife", and then turning her attention to Annika with the same stern look and voice she continued, to Annika's immense embarrassment, " and you Anni Bahu seems to be more intent on enjoying a video of Salman Khan than paying attention to your husband who is having a hard time keeping HIS eyes off you this morning."

Another round of snickering and giggles and this time at Annika's cost. Even I could not help but smirk in enjoyment seeing her blush a deep red and stutter at Dadi that they were just watching his latest promo.

"That is all good Anni Bahu, I have no issues with you paying attention to Salman Khan provided you have done your share as wife and paid attention to your lawfully married husband as well", she said in a very serious tone.

With a wag of her finger to emphasize her point she continued to address Annika and stated, "Please make sure you sit next to Shivvay from the next meal while Tia finds a comfortable seat next to Pinky. I am sure Pinky will be more than happy to give Tia her undivided attention when she sits on the other side of her. Am I right Pinky?",Dadi asked mum. She got an obedient nod since we all knew that Dadi used that tone only when she meant business.

Then she turned to me and asked mockingly, "Any issues with the seating arrangements Billu??"

"Not at all Dadi!", I replied in mock seriousness, since I was damned if I was going to get caught in this trap of 'kitchen politics', "I am sure we all understand where you are coming from", I turned towards Tia and unwrapped her arm from mine gently while I finished, "Tia and I understand each other perfectly, right Tia??", and was given a baffled nod.

Then I turned to Dadi and continued, "Besides Annika is going to start her training with me from this afternoon and I would like her to pay more attention to the growing stock prices rather than Mr. Khan's growing biceps."

"Tia, are you ok with the arrangements?", asked Dadi in a direct voice. Tia was very alarmed by then and nodded in agreement just like mum had, to avoid any further attention being drawn to her.

"But...", protested Mrs. Annika Singh Oberoi with a pout at Dadi for taking her away from her partners in crime at the table. I knew she enjoyed being as far away from dull 'ol me as possible if she could help it and I could see her not taking this too well.

Dadi raised her palm out to stop her right there and that was the end of all and any discussion Anni Bahu could have with her darling Dadi. The verdict was given and the sentence pronounced I thought with a devilish grin towards my wife only to receive a her scathing look from her in response to that.

Actually this was going to be so much fun I thought as I raised my eyebrow at her look. What a perfect way of turning a completely dull task such as eating into a delightful chance of tormenting Mrs. Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi!

I was rewarded with a very upset Mrs. Oberoi sticking her tongue out at me and still managing to look adorable to the rest at the table.

Rudra laughed at his Anni Bhi's antics and got into a discussion of how unfair it was that she had to sit with the oldies like me.

I shook my head at the two Siamese twins, Bhabhi and Devar, and returned to my breakfast as I had decided to talk to Om and Rudra before I left for the office. I had to make this right before my foolishness cost me what I held dearest to me - my brothers.

I knew the truth would come out someday but I would rather it came from me.

In the past few weeks I had hidden too much from my brothers and had made decisions that had put me in the position I was now. I decided that if I was going to fix all the wrongs I had done Annika, so that she would have a fresh start, who better to seek advice from than her two Oberoi Knights.

It was not going to be easy but I had to do it or lose their respect forever.

With breakfast done I sauntered over to my brothers and got into the conversation with them about Rudy's upcoming match. As we walked out of the dining room and were out of everyone's ear shot, I told them both that I had something important to discuss but not here at home. I wanted it to be just the three of us for this one.

OmRu wore a worried look and because I did not want to lie to them anymore I warned them that they were not going to be too happy with what I was going to confess to them.

We decided to meet up at our company guest house in Juhu in an hour and I left for work comforted in the knowledge that I was doing the right thing this time but apprehensive about how this confession was going to turn out as well. But I had to take the bull by the horns this time and there would be no backing out.

I knew I had to be the one to tell them the circumstances under which Annika married me, the baseless suspicion I had about her and Daksh and also about using Sahil as leverage to get my way.

Once I did that I knew the next step would be to face the music of the family but now that I had made the decision there was no turning back, I flicked my hair and walked out into the sunshine towards my car.

Shivvay Singh Oberoi did not fear or shy away from anything including a long and drawn out redemption.
