Well, I disagree with the part of living like normal husband and wife. The way they got married is not normal. By asking Anika to come and live in OM, she is giving another chance to Shivay to abuse her. She should have at least questioned him on how he behaved with her.
Marriage after divorce part... true. We live in a much matured world where divorce is not a taboo as it used to be once. But if Anika does not go to OM, there is a chance of claiming the marriage void. Why get tagged as somebody's wife when you did not get into the wedlock willingly and want to get a divorce anyway. Why give Shivay more chances to abuse Anika? Divorce is an unfortunate event. But when Anika/dadi knows that the destination of the relationship is divorce, why live the marriage till the divorce. BTW as an empowered women, Anika will stand strong despite the divorce. Yet, we still live in society where a divorce is only a 'second option'. While the degree of embracing women equality is higher compared to the past, there is still a lot of inequality, which we cannot ignore. Even today, a majority of society is critical about divorced women.
What I meant by normal husband and wife is that Annika living in her husband's house, as it happens usually when a couple get married. The wife usually lives under the same roof as her husband. I know that their marriage did not happen under normal circumstances and same way I don't really think that they are gonna 'live' like a normal married couple in the usual sense...like getting intimate and all. We all know that.
Shivaay can abuse her by coming to her home too, she need not live with him to experience his abuse. So there's that. As for not reprimanding him for his behaviour, segments don't usually show the full scene so maybe we should wait for the episode to air before reaching conclusions.
None of the them know what the destination of the marriage is. Not Shivaay, Annika or Dadi. That's why Dadi is asking for Annika to come back to let them figure out their options. Annika herself is an old school girl so for her at least, the destination of her marriage with Shivaay is certainly not divorce. No matter how much she wants it. For her, marriage is a lifelong commitment.
If a woman is truly empowered, she would not care what society thinks of her and her character as long as she can look at herself in the mirror and is satisfied with herself. As long as she stands her ground, it does not matter what society thinks or whether society embraces her or not. If society doesn't embrace her, it's not her loss.
