"You don't understand, Om. She is obsessed with me."
Instead of listening to what his brother had been trying to explain since the past one hour, Shivaay Singh Oberoi chose to remain strong in his stance, even though he was wrong in all probabilities. He was wrong and he wasn't ready to listen to anybody.
"Have you thought of it? None of us have witnessed the assaults happen to her" Shivaay tried to reason after staring at Om for one small moment. "Tia is not wrong."
"Yea like you'd have stood and watched as the attacker assaults her in front of your eyes." Om almost rolled his eyes at him.
"I'm just being rational, Om. I don't understand why no one is putting their brains to use a bit more prudently" was his comeback.
"And I don't understand why you would not stop being at a constant war with your own bloody self."
Om had stormed out of the room. His anger had reached a new peak and he feared if he waited there another moment, he might end up throwing punches at his brother. It was clear that at that moment he saw red and only red as his eyes had failed to notice Anika who stood beside the door, crying, evidently having heard all that Shivaay had to say about her situation.
How is this the same man who claimed to be capable of sensing any danger that graved around her? Or maybe, she had been wrong all this while. This is the worst she has been in judging a person, and she was so sorry to herself for her doings.
Shivaay's face retrieved its perpetual stern expression as he let his head win the yet another war with his heart. He was being rational was the only consolation he could give to his heart, though he was still in the same contradiction. He was being rational, but rational didn't always mean right. Somewhere it didn't just feel right, but he dissed the thought in an instant as he turned to leave the room only to face her glaring back with narrowed, reddened eyes.
Her eyes unreservedly disclosed the pain that gripped her heart, but there was also a glint of disgust, flashing right back at him which made him regret every single word that he had uttered all this while. He couldn't fathom why he suddenly felt so guilty. Guilty of what? Wasn't this what he wanted people to know as his take on this situation? And that is exactly what has happened here. He wondered if he should try to reason with her but settled with a no'. This had to happen and there were no alternatives.
He watched as her figure retreat, thinking why unlike other days she had not thrown in a fight, had not even tried to argue with him trying to prove herself. A part of him died to hear her out, to disbelief himself and place all his trust on her but was there indeed no explanation she could give?
Anika had had enough. She had done this way too many times before and she knew better now. There was no way she would do this to herself again. She knew how wrong he was being but it didn't make sense anymore to reason with him. To the number of days remaining of her as his wedding planner', she'd rather let it be.
