It's true. It was a test for his principles. He was marrying for the business and family. And he chose Tia, because it suited his purposes. She was just going to be pasted into his house, with an entourage of business benefits. She didn't suffocate him with her attention. She was very accommodating to his schedule and spends her time doing her own thing.
She suited him. Win-Win.
No one spoke about fancy around him. What a flimsy, flighty word. Fancy.
So what if she made him laugh with her nonsensical behaviour? Is life about comedy? No!
His life is about business and corporate issues, take overs, acquisitions, mergers. It's Mallika's nonsense that has infected everyone these days. His life is busy , and he needed someone who could mould herself to this life. He didn't want to waste time teaching her to fit in, explaining things and how everything works. Translating difficult words, or even simple words.
Never mind weird made up Hindi words.
It was too difficult for Annika to fit in. She will be lost in his corporate world. She can't even wear proper shoes , let alone heels. She will trip and embarrass herself constantly. She will feel left out and awkward. And there will be times when he won't be there to help her. He would be a laughing stock because of his wife.
I don't want to change her. She is perfect the way she is. If she is with me she will change, she must change, because my life will swallow hers.
He stared at her while she showed him the sherwani choices one by one. All he was interested in was how she was feeling. She looked confused and lost, when he was expecting her fiery blast of a temper, after all the crass things he said. But her big brown eyes were pleading and sad, and she looked like she'd been crying too.

Was Annika asking him to decide for the both of them? But his business minded brain did the calculations , it was suggesting he was better off with Tia.
