I just found these two replies of Gul to fans on insta explaining 3 ladies of Ishqbaaz. Such impressive thought, I wish she will be successful in translating this onscreen. She has already broken the widespread stereotype of men not meant for kitchen by making kitchen as Obro's gossip point.
I am specially happy about what she told about Anika's surname, just today morning in one post I commented about wishing to see Anika retaining her name only Anika after marrying and not adding Oberoi to it and here goes Gul fulfilling my wish.
To be called as perfect woman/adarsh bahu material we are mostly expected to look good, be honest, sincere, calm, composed etc. We are mostly bearer of surnames and not carriers, we live most of our life bearing the surname of our father, which becomes our identity, we develope an attachment to it and one fine day we leave it and embrace some other surname just like that. I don't know about other women but I can't imagine to let go of my identity with which I lived for so many years just like that, I can't let go of my father's nishani attached to me by birth go away just like that, getting a husband doesn't make me less of a daughter. To think of it, we women bear a child for 9 months in our womb but our baby doesn't get our surname.
P.S: getting a bit emotional, so just like to mention one aspect of real life, I have a strong woman as my sis-in-law who has retained her surname even after marriage and my niece has surnames of both father and mother to her, she will curse them for lengthy name once she grows up 😆
