I partially agree with your post. Anika's English diction is as good as Shivay, I don't think a person who understands moderate English and can't follow up a bit faster phase of spoken English, has such diction. But somehow this flaw gets masked by her mispronounciation with desi accent. Regarding the wardrobe, I don't find them non-middle class, I feel the costume is perfect for a Mumbai urban-poor where you get plenty of imitation stuffs of designer clothes, jewelleries, footwears etc. Anika's wedding planning explains her stylish(I don't find most of them stylish) outfits, like how she bought cheaper stuffs with the quality similar to branded stuff like that table cloth etc. Her styling is apt for Mumbai's urban poor considering she works and earns. She has a scooty too. Generally middle class people can afford such things with a lot of jugaad. Being brought up in a middle class I can vouch for it, nobody can do jugaad better than a middle class Indian 😆

Have you ever been to Mumbai or Goa?
This is not to undermine your view or anything but just a general fact.
The cloths she wears are very easily available on the streets of Mumbai at really cheap rates. Also he accessories like danglers and stuff are things which are sold in the local trains.
As for her English... I'd like to give the example of Goan market vendors. They hardly know English yet their diction is very smooth and pronunciation top notch. This is because they are used to the foreign tourists and their conversation.
I hope I haven't offended you. I was just stating some facts I have observed in real life.

I agree with you Amrita.
I too was thinking the same.
Her outfits, accessories ans style actually do contradict her middle-class status assumption.
But then I think that could be the requirement of he channel and viewers. If we overlook that it's a good show. At least so far.

Nowadays buying brands is not a big deal and its no more only for upper class...there are copies of big brands easily available and there are affordable brands too available easily...plus Anika being from Mumbai such clothes and fashion is easily available on streets of these Metro cities so I find her wardrobe much in sync with her social status...I just wonder why doesn't she buy another pair of chappals though
Plus she is smart and good at bargaining too😆

Her clothes look 'street-shopped' and given the fact that she had a catering business earlier, it does seem believable that she could afford at least that much. Plus let's not forget she went to the same college as Priyanka Singh Oberoi.😆 I think that's the idea. She does understand simple English, I would assume.

Personally, I think Annika's styling needs some work. I feel some looks are absolute disasters. But then again, it works with her character and her goofy nature. She looked lovely in the white churidaar in the rain.

I don't think her styling is sophisticated. Sophisticated style would be Tia's & some of rudra's gfs😆.
Priyanka has a much better style too eventhough she only wears Indian, but her style is rich, classy and elegant.

Annika wears modern clothes yes but they are never really out-and-out stylish. They look very normal, at least, in my opinion. And in terms of perfect hair & makeup all the time, it's Indian television. 😆 Suspension of disbelief toh banta hain !!😳

Amongst all the girls, I love Ishaana's styling the most - her bangles, earrings, anarkali, dupatta. They look beautiful.

Did she go to the same college as Priyanka? 😲
I never knew that...

I never knew she even went to college...

I too like Ishana's styling...though I prefer Anika more as a character.
Anika looks ok ok with those bracelets n all...but at times, she was too decked up for the girl who had just lost her home n was almost on the streets...I felt.

IMO the creatives and channel should care more about giving realistic look to lead characters..like khushi and sanam before marriage(khushi toh had ghastly stuff even after marriage)

Exactly my point. 👍🏼

Well my opinion slightly differed from yours. I don't think she looks sophisticated. I think she looks middle class. Though I am not an Indian and have never been to India, so I have no idea what kinda clothes middle class girls wear but IMO Annika's style is indowestern and I think middle class girls nowadays do wear those kinda clothes and I asked some of my Indian friends here about this and they agree. I don't think clothing has anything to do with fluency in English...Annika I think didn't complete formal education due to lack of money which made her start working. Hence this probably explains her lack of fluency in English. Re. her diction, I think in primary school they teach students proper English diction na? So it probably comes from there...

Thanks...😊

Clothing n English are too different things. I didnt connect them.
These are two points where I found could be worked on by the CVs...😊

Yes agreed about the diction part.

I am not from Mumbai...n hence not aware of Mumbai's urban poor. From wat I have seen in other serials portraying the same class from the city...I felt Anika is too glamorous. 😊

Exactly.
Ya...ofcourse it is a great show...😳
Though similar themes have been there before in other shows, this show has the right quantity of drama, style and romance to keep us hooked. 😊
