I have had this debate with a gora classmate here and my teacher, who is British, agreed that Britain should compensate. But she was glorifying British Raj and I was like you're a history teacher so stop acting like british raj was the best thing that has ever happened. Yeah, okay maybe for Britain it was (they're wealthy now because of India, i believe) however India was ruined because of the British. They even separated muslims and hindus who coexisted for centuries. :'(

I am a person who strongly believes that one shouldn't count losses but look forward and garner new wins. Britain just didnt rob India and its riches, it is a country which robbed 3/4 th of the world. Britain's developed status is built on the blood and sweat of their colony slaves. It's blood money. But why blame this generation for the mistakes of the past? we shouldn't dwell in the past and create another conflict. It's been 70 years and I think it's time India moved on. We should always remember the people who paid the price for the freedom but we should move beyond what had happened to us and think of what we can be.
