Warning: The views expressed below are not keeping to popular opinions and will probs make me a fairly unpopular in the forum. i also dont mind being a hater, as that is one of the sides to viewing things critically- hating some elements and liking some. Having said that, hi im teju forumvasis! Nice to meet you all.

Now, whilst i am super intrigued with a serial based on very strongly written male characters, i have found myself quite disappointed with the development of the female leads. whilst they all have their good tit bits and started strong, indian television cvs have proved once again that their capacity for handling too many good characters is limited- they can maybe handle a harry potter where you still have one protagonist to ground you but wen it comes to a game of thrones where each major character has an important story to tell- they fail miserably. in this serial though, so far they've kept good momentum and successful story telling with the guys but really let it go with the girls post the first month or so.

ive seen a lot of people talking about screen time and favoritism, but thats not the main problem but rather a part of the main problem. the biggest problem is poor writing and constantly loosing track of the female leads' stories outside of their interaction with the boys. the writers simply dont seem to know how to focus on multiple arcs and how to place stories in a sequence where they stay relevant even without being the focal point. and this is especially true with the ladies, thats why we have so good story lines that get dropped and forgotten all of a sudden, characterizations that seem bipolar and many many plotholes and nonsensical tracks where people seem to walk in and out of O mansion like its a public exhibition and employees talk to their employers like they own them and guests throw water on their host's face. so ive decided to write my rant on the female rat pack and see what you all think.

ishana's bull barely makes any sense- this mala bela chakkar is SO stupid that even the cvs dont know where to go with this and thus 0 progress on that front. what a gr8 con artist, shes so stupid, she couldnt even keep her names straight! and did she really think that om and ridhima wouldnt share the fact that they have a new friend? how did she con anyone with such dim wits is beyond me! and what did she hope to achieve by becoming ridhima's friend? we dont know...😕 poor writing has made her actions seem isolated to the point of no return. a piece of advice to the cvs- if you plan to keep Om and her in a jodi then cut down the ishana riddhima interactions. it just serves to create confusion and waste time that could be better used to make her connection with Om seem relevant. and now compare that to the sensitivity and the writing ingenuity that was demonstrated earlier in her interactions with Om- the con gets trapped in her own web couldve been very interesting but is just a blatant WASTE of potential now. they're still flickering between whether shes a petty thief or someone with a genuine backstory! 😕 On a side note: Omkara is such a passionate and deeply emotionally intelligent character and his romances are hypothermia inducing thanda. (although the IshKara scenes where bela isnt flouncing around like a child pretending to be deepika padukone were actually super tight but theyre too far gone to be hot anymore) WASTE!

and anika's character was fun and kickass in the beginning but too much of anything leaves a pretty bad aftertaste. the scene that got me hooked to the show was the car window breaking scene. it was warranted badassery from anika and super awesome. her story line with fighting to adopt sahil- really admirable (thats dissapeared!). but if you keep on showing the same thing, it really does loose its impact. at this point its like- OK CVS! I GET IT! SHE'S BAD ASS! except now its crossed over to the point of becoming a loud mouth who seems to exhibit some super gawar behavior out of nowhere when most of the times she seems pretty put together in the company of rich people. 😕 like what WAS that chappal chameli and then touching his meds with that...thats just gross. and how is she acting SO unprofessionally and getting away with it? im sorry but in my line of work rich people are a part of my daily package and they dont really care if your a 'genuine' person or not- they pay a high price for service and professionalism and do so wihout qualm. and anika's behavior wouldve gotten her fired instantly from ANY service oriented job. chalo maan liya dadi mayve found it amusing but y would pinky be ok with this? or even tia?!? if tia and shivaaye are like- no she speaks like she owns the place and doesnt know her limits, then what exactly can dadi say, other than asking anika to behave? AND why in the world would the rich oberois hire her instead of a professional wedding planner?!? 😕 the richest people in town would simply hire professionals from big names like Percept or Seventy, who manage everything from contacting celebs for entertainment to designers for clothes to designer mehendi...and here we have budget queen with 0 connections 😲

and finally coming to somya, i really liked her calm and happy nature as was introduced. if one transgression by a boy she met once before is enough to trigger her into becoming so angry then i futilely hope they dont end up together. cos shes clearly going to become a worse version of jhanvi- the dukhiyari one without the talliness- thats just simply annoying. i mean what the hell happened? surely there is an alternate to exhibiting your a strong woman without being an ott dramebaaz? just because you handle situations without any unnecessary tashanbaazi doesnt make you weak. if someone behaves like an idiot, the only way to tackle them is to become an idiot yourself? 😕 chalo with anika it makes sense cos it fits into the scope of her character- she is hood. but somya isnt hood. shes normal and sensible, where rudra is an idiot. she was supposed to be the thehrav to his flying high. the something that grounds him with sensibility. but now she has also become aggressive and mannerless! rudra was being an ass today and she couldve simply calmly told him- im dadi's guest and i dont want to create a scene but you are rude, insensitive and clearly incapable of thinking before you speak. i dont accept your apology and you can get out now. i wouldve whistled at that- zor ka jhatka dheere se! but instead she also did this bullshit cutting the credit card and water in the face drama! 😲 she lives in his house as their guest, shes barely known him for 3 days- who the hell with any bit of maturity and intelligence does that to someone they barely know, even if theyre being rude? meet rudeness with cold composure not ott drama. they're all supposed to compliment each other right? dadi keeps on saying jo kami individuals mein hoti hain woh jode mein puri ho jati hain right? so the complement of an immature brat is...another immature brat? rudra is not shivaaye. he doesnt need an anika copy- if so then whats the point of having two different girls? dono ki jodi anika k saath hi bana do cvs! ⭐️

the problem in the story are not the female characters as much it is the sequences in which these characters are placed constantly that make zero sense! whilst the show has done a pretty fab job at making the guys all layered and interesting and given them strong storylines, the females are just badly written plots and forgotten good plots. so cvs, if your not going to differentiate the female leads and give them their own individual pathways, some depth, progression and better plots besides the romantic cliches straight out of IPKKND, then i suggest treating them as secondary characters and focusing more screen time on the O bros and fam (all of whom are much better developed and have a more interesting story to tell) and leave the ladies as simply one part of the boys' story that they occasionally visit. i know this its called Ishqbaaz, as in their romantic story line but the tag line is- ek dusre k zaroori hisse hain, yeh ek hi kahani k teen kisse hain- so maybe focus more on the kahani and keep the kissas on the side- put in romantic cliches here and there to keep the masses tantalized- same maja ayega.

over and out!

Excellent analysis 👏 👏 I guess the setting is the biggest drawback of this show.

Agree to some extent but not fully. For me problem is not only with female characters but also male character's

Shivaay-No different than other typical cliched male leads we have on TV

Anika- Same as Shivaay no different that typical goody two shoes female leads we have on TV

Om-He is my fav but now he is moving towards being boring.Just too good to be true. Now he is started to seem unrealistic i am finding it hard to connect with him.No one is that nice in real life and now a days his role has been reduced to being a commentator.

Ishaana-Not enough writing is dedicated to her that can allow us viewers to understand her.She is hardly shown for minute or so and with the kind of flawed character she has it becomes hard to understand her in a minute.

Rudra- Again just one dimensional character til now.Just a funny dumb rich guy.

Saumya- She is becoming more like Anika

So for me there are problems in each character 😆 other than that like you pointed out a lot of loopholes in logic. The way Anika behaves in the Oberoi mansion not sure how she has managed to still keep her job😆

I liked your criticism because you stated your reasons instead of just simply going "this is character is bad, i hate them".
Gul has always had this problem when the show accumulates more characters. The screen space of different characters is genuinely not the problem for me because time does not equate to quality. The one scene of Ishkara talking about pain touched me more than other time consuming scenes of either one. Point being that if the scenes are well thought out and executed, screen space does not matter.

The characters as I pointed out in my recent post have been given impractical situations. Ishana is adorable and humorable because she spews out her annoyance well in gujarati. However, for someone who has been conning people all her life, she's not the most convincing thief. She would have picked up a thing or two from Om just by the times she has bumped into him. Like his watch or ring or chain or something. She steals for survival so it would make sense as well because she could have used that for the day's food or expenses, but she doesn't. I love grey characters and this shyness of Indian television for female leads being grey irks me.

Anika is hilarious as well, and I get that she likes to babble. That's just who she is. However, you're right that certain situations just don't make sense or are very unmannerful. She isn't rich but she can be atleast mannered. Not being educated does not equate to touching medicine after touch slippers or spitting out a drink because you don't like it. How many kids spit out the atrociously tasting kaadha when sick without getting berated for it? Also, the topic of her being a wedding planner has been brought up before so you're not the first one. It is a bit weird, I would have much rather Priyanka suggest her to be the caterer and help out with the ACTUAL wedding planners. Her being the one planning it all is just plain ridiculous.

Somya, I can't say much for her yet. I am certainly annoyed that the girl is promoting obesity but I guess perhaps its intentional and she may lose the fat overtime. Before anyone pounces on me, I have no problem with someone with curves or someone eating parathas. Just that she's really not a healthy weight. Her annoyance of Rudra maybe this way because she's in college and not mature yet. Perhaps it will change, I am not sure. She may become more calm once she finishes with her irritation of him. The only thing I hope she doesn't do is mommy him around. I hope she doesn't hear a sob story and become over caring because that is not a good relationship to have.

I actually agree with u on this I was discussing this with a few people in a AT just yesterday.
I could care less for Ishana character she's the weakest written character in Ishqbaaaz imo...

Anika is my favorite but her behavior is abit too much for a girl who is so modern with great jobs. She is too grown up to be acting so immature.

Soumya I thought is a mature girl let her be herself no need turning her into Anika part 2

I think theres a bit more to Shivaaye than the cliche male rude boy on tv. he doesnt have an antagonistic relationship with God, his parents (not to an aweful extent atleast) nor the jaded past problem. hes just a normal guy with his friends family and society, a bit on the practical side. just doesnt go out of his way to be friendly or unfriendly with people not from his socio-economic background- which is quite normal. most rich kids dont really seek out poor people company. but his bhashans about his preferences was a bit absurd to say the least. anika is really the only person he's antagonistic to really. See unlike most rude boys, they also show his playful side. even to an extent his romantic side with tia wen he goes to hug her but grabs anika instead. hes not really jaded and bitter like typical heroes. just a bit on the no-nonsense side. hes more human seeming than say the Arnav Singh Raizadas (the man Shivaaye is modelled after) in my humble opinion. a little less- woe is me and thus im cold.

as for Om, i dont think hes done anything that proves to me that he's too nice, or that he doesnt have a dark side, if anything hes jaded amongst the three brothers but his response to that isnt to become a stone wall like in most tv cliches but is very sensitive. from his commentary he just seems sensible to me. not too good, just normal. and hes not really had the scope to do anything too bad but one can always hope that we'll see more of his darkness going forward. and the fact om has no flaws other than his rigid adherence to the 'truth', was already established from day 1, so it doesnt really surprise me at all.

rudra is the classic clown in the court, but he also has an emotional side that humbles in response to his brothers. also i feel like his mental growth is a bit stunted. its like he kind of regressed into a child to keep the harsh realities of his family life at bay...he barely reacts to any of his parents' problems which is kind of creepy. and that what i meant by layers. the boys have hinted or straight up shown us there is more to them than meets the eye. even if there isnt, they work well enough with each other to cover their short comings. the girls unfortunately dont have that luxury and this their character potholes stick out even further.

No yaar all rude male leads on TV when introduced have some one or the other whom they are emotionally attached too.Even in Gul's previous shows were the same.Asad had Ayaan and Arnav had his sister and here Shivay has his brother's no different 😆.All rude and arrogant heroes initially look down upon the heroine and then they fall in love with the same heroine and their view changes. Here also things will be no different .This is just repetitive writing for me.

Regarding Om didn't he say yesterday that he cant sleep at night even if he has hurt some one unintentionally and then his willingness to help a complete stranger like Bela.Come on no one is this nice.I mean if you are showing a character this nice then atleast show some flaws also.I have not seem any dark side hopefully going forward i can see.My problem is i cant connect to any one who is too good to be true because then is start finding that character unreal.

Regarding Rudra there is one thing being naive not knowing harsh realities of life but another thing being dumb.Like his dialogue 'that how will he understand radio of Japanese car'😆 i mean come one.Again no problem with showing him dumb but at least show some other layers. We hardly get to see that
