IKRS 13th October 2015 ep 56 My Take.

Sometimes life's harsh treatment is more positive than negative. For it's bad turns become conducive to making one hardy and tough during scenarios that ordinarily are nothing short of being dangerous ,almost life threatening.. which is what one observes with the widows.. Alongside in life one can also end up being in a situation where due to the heat of the moment one is forced to face such decisions which one may have treated flippantly previously ..the impact of the risk factor gets the adrenalin going and one has to say yeah or nay..

Although we might well say thus, that the widows and the Ashram has undergone a siege situation before. However there exists a difference between the two sieges. The first one was a violent attack from the outside by people known to the widows. Their arms were bamboo poles, bricks and stones, rather than lethal weapons. This time the attack is from within the four walls of the Ashram. The enemy is one never seen before by the widows i.e total strangers Worse still this time, the enemy is an armed organized criminal gang.

The scene is set to emulate the typical Hostage situation, complete with captors wielding arms, and captives detained and waiting on the moods and whims of the captors! But one sight is enough to force the widows to relinquish what the captors want, the gold murti! Dhani held at gunpoint by Tulsi! It's a nerve racking experience for Dhani, her mother Dulari and to Viplav.. who is he to her and she to him?? as Dhani held at gun point ..Viplav too is in a hostage situation emotionally , as he faces the question, Tulsi poses before him regarding Dhani , why are you worried about her ,is she your buchiye , your sister or..? what exactly does Dhani mean to him? is it too early? or certainly not the right place to spell out what she signifies for him?

They say a loved one gets a forewarning about one close to the heart dadi gets a premonition , a nightmare! The name Viplav ! escapes from her lips and alerts Dashrant.. who hears her out but assures her dreams are dreams and don't come true! but dadi urges him to phone Viplav to check if things were fine with him!

Viplav plays mind games with the captors.. The situation in the Ashram gets hot as Tulsi as the captor throws her weight around and demands for the murti to be handed over to her.. much to Viplav and every ones's horror she threatens Dhani , pokes the gun at her, commands , give me the murti!.. such is Viplav's desperation.. does he want Dhani to hand over the murti? Seems Dulari will stick at it and bravely she stops Dhani defiantly , don't tell them anything about the murti Dhani! Viplav can see the mother transmits her determination to fight Tulsi and her gang till the end.. Viplav realizes how fraught he is to save Dhani's life. he yells vexed , kaki give the murti it's not dearer than your life!! this might be to play the psychological card with the captors, keeping Tulsi calm , negotiating with her buying time till the police gets there, gives Tulsi the impression that he is on her side, and is as such trying to convince her he can influence thses widows they listen to him.. but Tulsi rejects the sense of calm he sells her and orders he be held at gunpoint too by another gang member! Dashrant phones Viplav, under gunpoint he is allowed to speak his dada ji, who tells him ,his dadi had a nightmare about him. Viplav under Tulsi's watchful eye admits he is fine.. but then gives a cryptic message about going to Duwarka, and Pankhaj engagement been set!! Dasharant, is puzzled ,by his answer, but dadi understands Viplav is is in trouble. Viplav incoherent reply to Dashrant eventually conveys something is amiss ..

The captor Tulsi's patience begins to wear off and she threatens to start killing spree by Dulari.. Dhani's mother! if the murti is not handed over by Dhani and the widows!

When nonsense turns out to make sense

Knock on door.. Viplav held at gunpoint he is chosen to open the door and is led to the door at gun point by Tulsi's accomplice.. he opens the small peep door.. the police has arrived! the officer asks if everything is fine? Viplav eyes shift to the side .. his eyes speak ..but he plays more mind games.. too he replies, so late?? you disturbing our sleep? come here to ask us if we are ok? what kind of policeman are you?? go and do some work!! by work he means stage an attack!.. hints to the officer, tell your men to act!! good old Rachna screams and that draws the policeman's attention! but Rachna gets slapped!! Tulsi implores Inderani, get them in rein and give me the murti I'll leave.. outside police officer bids to get in touch with control room. then a shout look you are surrounded you cannot escape.. if you don't open the door we'll smash it down! and Inderani says now do what you like? but consequently a knife is held at Dhani's neck ! Viplav looks on in horror! he has to keep this mad Tulsi talking, negotiating..

Tulsi yells back in anger! and states her terms ,as hostage do.. she threatens to take lives.. don't even think about breaking the door otherwise I'll kill these widows right here .. let me and my accomplices leave this Ashram otherwise none will be left in this Ashram.. as in a typical hostage taking scene.. Another police car arrives with a siren screeching! loads of reinforcements! the officer demands the door be opened .. then police officer rings and in forms Dashrant about Viplav and widows being held as hostages at the Ashram. Dashrant commands him to charge into the Ashram , but refuses, he replies, can't go in the hostages lives are at risk.. at home Kanak says she's willing to give her life! but Dashrant makes it clear to Kanak Viplav's life is more valuable to him than hers! He works out connection between hostage taking and siege of Ashram with the theft of the precious temple murti's. Dhani is threatened to tell where the murti was? by Tulsi yet again! but she digs her heels in no!! Tulsi says it took her two months to steal it , Dulari defy's again, she won't tell them .. Tulsi puts her gun to her mouth! Dulari fights go on kill me, Viplav warns, don't harm you'll regret if you do anything to any of them.. then they move to Rachna to get out of her if she can tell where murti was?

Dashrant arrives at the Ashram with Tripurari, Kanak .. wants to know what's going on? wants the poice to go in.. but the officer again says, other people are at risk apart your grandson .. Police want the gang. Tripurari tries to say once we get the captors, we'll parade them. Dashrant snubs him , use your brain not your brawn! For his grandson's safety, the minister is phoned .. Tulsi.loses her rag , says I'll count to 5 then will kill you one by one Dulari dares here. why don't you then? smoke bomb is throw in the courtyard! coughing happens and in the darkness all the ropes are opened! Viplav rescues all and lets then out of the side door ..

Dashrant grabs and hugs Viplav ! Tulsi looks around for them gun in hand; rummages around for the murti , looks through trunks ; ransacks the place! .. outside suddenly Dulari shouts buchiya! Dhani is not with them.. and Viplav shouts how could you leave her behind ! one side his family begs him to leave everything and come home! other side Dulari begs him, falls at his feet to save her buchiya!! Police are concerned about fatalities , says no need to go in we have police force.. but Dulari begs Viplav!!..he is confused dada ji , Dulari or police or??? Decision making time for Viplav.. his heart conjures up FBs of him, standing by her under the tea stall saving her from the rain, as her protector!!!her suppressed laugh at his inside out brolley! He did everything for her smile to happen.. her smile at the potter's wheel, her smile at waving the cockroach in his face! her sulky look with soapy froth blown by him.. her shyness at having her look entangled in his button ..what should he do???

Inside Dhani sits huddled , hidden, from her captors ,she stands ,bumps her foot ! moans in pain! Next minute Dhani faces Tulsi her gun pointed in her face.. Tulsi says .. enough of your games now you'll get us out of here and she drags her by her hair and Dhani screams!! Outside Dulari hears and screams, she'll die in there!.. that's it!! Viplav turns loose from Dashrant's arms runs back into the Ashram .Tulsi drags Dhani by the hair, gun in hand throws Dhani across the courtyard!.. Viplav crawls at the edge furtively, is upstairs hiding in wait.. Tulsi tells her accomplice to call others, and then asks Dhani again, where is the murti?? Dhani refuses , not telling you! you can try all you can! and she gets slapped by Tulsi !! Viplav from the shadows.. upstairs suddenly grabs one gang member !

Very dramatic episode. Reshami was great! the smoke bomb idea is to gas the captors , knock them out to capture them , then bring them around for questioning.. happened in a hostage situation in Russia, idea is to capture alive avoiding bloodshed..

Precap: Tulsi yells look nothing will happen in your life it's minus colours , Dhani yells do what you like not telling.. you where the murti ? another smoke bomb! In the smoke Viplav jumps from the first floor down to the courtyard to her rescue Salman Khan style , save her and she eventually offers him her hand to escape with her.. Dhani who never allowed him to touch her now offers him her hand to hold.. Viplav has a mischevious look on his face.. are you sure? oohh alright then... Hamlet53 14.10.15

In addition to the differences that you have pointed out, I will also say that that while the first siege was directly instigated by Dasharth's locking up the shiva temple, and his hate speech on the ghat steps that instigated a mad mob to destroy the ashram and beat up the widows, in this siege, DT is not the cause of the siege, but really the savior. He acted on Sushma's intuition (instead of customarily mocking her), and sent the police to the ashram. He himself arrived there in the thick of action. Although he is still harping on the "Humara pota, humara pota" mantra, and could care less about the situation of the widows, he is not blaming or hating them for their predicament. This is an interesting development.

I have thought about your musings regarding the length of the takes. It is not the first time that you have expressed this concern. My thoughts on this subject is that you can do exactly as you are guided to do. The point of all this is to enjoy oneself and also be inspired in the process of expressing and exchanging views about the episodes. Therefore there is no pressure of any kind whatsoever. If you are enjoying writing the long takes, please do continue. If it feels rushed or pressured, or is starting to feel like an obligation, rather than fun, it might then be worth rethinking. If that is the case, you can experiment with different styles of the takes and see what works. In any event, your takes are very well written and inspiring. I am sure that I speak on everyone's behalf when I say that we will enjoy reading whatever your write. Take care and be well.
