IKRS 16th September 2015 ep.33 My Take
The episode right from the start refers to the links between the body , mind and the soul or the spirit. I don't claim to be an expert in the ancient techniques of ayuervedic practice..but am roughly aware that it is an alternative form of medicinal and healing that involves the use of flora fauna oils. A treatment of ailments derived from natural products like leaves, herbs and bark as opposed to the conventional medicines formulated by drugs and chemicals. In the episode there is emphasis placed on cleansing rather then tampering with the body.. well or not our contributes to our general well being..a healthy mind and a calm spirit. The episode also shows images of a mirror in some scenes.. a mirror signifies, reflection of perhaps one's deeds. To mirror also means to copy ,imitate or draw a parallel..
Still in the pottery making activity.. Viplav ends up with a mark on his nose, clay , which is a point of amusement between the two. Dhani laughs and he says, here I am trying to help you and you laugh at me..by helping her he's also acknowledging his own fault, his rash driving .. this acknowledgement brings them together. To confirm that she is not laughing out of turn, she brings a mirror and shows's him his reflection and he laughs, how much better one feels after admitting one's mistake.. Viplav mirrors her kind gesture to compensate for the loss he really incurred.. he emulates her good kind gesture..
He asks for water to wash off his face and she says there's the well go do it yourself and he says I am your guest and hence you need to get the water.. it's over there. .she insists gently.. Viplav is used to being pampered by his family.Everyone normally are at his beckon and call. Dhani is trying to teach him self reliance.. she follows a pattern where every one does their bit and fair share. For Viplav,the need never arises that he can do things for himself. here at Dhani's house to in the mark on his nose ,he expects the preferential treatment of a guest!
And he is about to throw clay in her face in pure jest. Dulari sees him crouched beside her daughter and he stands up and walks past her his hands and nose smeared with clay. Dulari looks at Dhani who is smiling and nodding her head as she watches Viplav walk away.. Dulari gives her daughter a suspecting look..dulari looks anxious in this scene. I reckon she dreads a certain seemingly comfort level that seems to be building up between the young lawyer and her buchiya.. she is a mother who hopes that she doesn't need to tell her daughter to back off from the lawyer as he is forbidden fruit.. my heart goes outto her..she is so ratty and tends to take out her anxiety on dhani.viplav's chirpiness doesn't seem to help as he too seems to be getting a kick out of this pottery activity then walks and crouches by her daughter and tells her in no uncertain words, now stop all this tamasha! it's nearly arti time.. here eat something and Dhani says ,no I am not hungry and Dulari snaps at her and why ever not? the next two days you are fasting ,so you won't get to eat anything.. Viplav hears and turns his head, as Dulari, insists go wash your hands and eat something and Viplav jeers, she won't eat kaki I mean she's such a stubborn girl ,beats me how you fed her when she was young? Dulari glares at her passes her the platter and orders, without fussing just eat your dinner! and hurry up and come , Dulari invites Viplav too and sets his platter on the bed, baachiya you too eat. As she goes Viplav cheerfully grabs a banana peels it and heads towards Dhani still by the wheel on the ground. Viplav crouches, takes a mouthful of the banana and looks like a primate! munching the fruit and he says looking at her with deep interest, strange girl you are... are you really going to fast for two days? he munches.. you won't eat at all? ,look! tell me now, not eating for two days does it not give you indigestion? like acidity? He gulped and goes on I mean like heart burn? She replies, no fasting makes the heart calm, and purifies the body too it's the ayervedic way of offering ones purified self to god.. to give him joy.. but this you won't understand.. I think this is significant that many believe is only meant for spiritual of faith reasons only.. here we find out it's benefical for the body as well .. but Viplav argues, tell me one more thing.. by fasting and purifying yourself, and appeasing him.. does god visit you in person ,give you an audience ? she replies, we don't do it to gain but to make our devotion known to him.. and he doesn't appear himself ,instead he sends someone, a person in his place.. to offer us protection. one who saves us from sorrow and troubles ,supports us.. Viplav nods beaming all over ,this means, that if I win this ashram case for you , it won't make me gods man he is obviously thinking of the appellative she has bestowed him with rakhas .. then why did you not call gods man to fight your case? and Dhani replies, look I am not here to argue about god with you and he smiles, and says, you can't anyway? Dhani goes off and says, I'll be back shortly and enters her room and finds Rajlaxmi dressed in Viplav's jacket admiring herself in a hand held mirror.. Rajlaxmi embodies herself as being close to Viplav ,for she has developed an infatuation. Dhani seeing her in an image that typifies Viplav through his jacket.. annoys Dhani. Dhani challenges her , why have got it on? and raj laxmi teases her, very nice from rakshas he's changed to Viplav babu now? and in a few days he'll become my life! and soon after you'll pack your bags she taunts and Dhani feels uncomfortable.. but Dhani forces her to take off his jacket. Raj laxmi frees herself! and says, oh let me wear it for a while? Look I can't feel him in reality at least let me sense him through his clothes! oohhh I feel so good I can smell him through his clothes! you won't to try it she entices Dhani but Dhani tries to wrench it off her! will you take it off or not? rajlaxmi ensares her, don't you worry I'll hide it and keep it safe like you hid the red bangles I'll hide jacket too.. Dhani rebutts her, I don't need to hide things from any one, badi amma and my mother knows too ,now take it off! Viplav babu is waiting outside in the courtyard and for it! I have to return it to him!..raj laxmi to me mirrors the image of a normal young girl,the one drawback is that she happens to be a young widow. she tires to latch on to Dhani ,be friends with her, add another member to her group she wants Dhani because under good reputation.. she can perhaps go places more. Rajlaxmi goes he out in the courtyard and here I am in here pining for him and she take the jacket off and runs out into the courtyard to forgive him jacket but Viplav had left! again he left his jacket behind.. and Dhani snatches his jacket back from Rajlaxmi. Are these signs of , Dhani likes Viplav
Suvarna and Tripurari .. Tripurari imitates the same tactics of preying upon the young and vulnerable, using them for own like his father she says she didn't break the telly on our prrpose next time what ever you give me I'll protect it like my life.. won't show it to Rachna or Rajlaxmi trip ursro says, let it be forget it I ll but you another one and she says no don't save it for when we get married and live together in our own home and he brushes it aside as he says marriage is a kong way ahead. tell me what's new at the ashram hope no one is at the asshrama ?and she says yes it looks like our shelter will be taken from us at moment by that lawyer and Tania have assure us they will get it back for us and that lawyer is really nce man and did you know he came to our ashram today as well .an d he asks when ? and she moans why are you asking about him? let's talk about us, and tell me what's delaying us from getting married? he says because my house is small I am thinking of making a bigger house for us. really? and he says till today have I ever lied to you? preying onher dreams and getting info from her..like father like son, liars , cheat's
Viplav and dadi .. this is an interesting scene, his gran talks about the sanctity of marriage . an unbreakable bond to be honoured at all times.. afterall she is an example, come what may she symbolises the image of a good ,faithful wife Viplav ! wait a while child and she feels his face many congratulations! he replies amused it's shalu's engagement why are you wishing me?nd she says no not just for shalu and he interrupts yes I know ram too ! what I don't get is how did they agree to getting married how did he say yes? and sushma replies, hey marriage is the purest relationship in the world. Viplav here talks about the festive side of wedding Viplav says dadi marriage is the most boring bond in the whole wide world! now see all our relatives will turn up , they'll sing and dance eat the food we offer! then they'll back bite against us and then leave , besides after a few days the madness of marriage wears off and then people want to run away fromm their marriage but can't because they are married and are lumbered with it! tell me I am right aren't I ? and she reprimands him, you just say whatever comes to your mind! and don't say anything about this issue , my child Tania is a lovely girl whattt? So the young lawyer has confirmed that he is not interested in tania Viplav protests then laughs when did Tania jump into this conversation? How is she connected to our discussion? Listen dadi Tania 's here for a few days doesn't mean shell be staying her permanently! She aguest here after that she'll leave! and besides there's nothing going on between me and Tania like you are assuming ! can you please stop building castles in the air about marriage he begs irritated, dadi looks anxious Kanak turns up to save the day ...i bet dadi will be concerned about his forth coming engagement before dadi can disclose more.. Kanak swans in and tells him his dada ji has'nt uttered a single world since morning go to him he'll feel happy. she urges , once he leaves..the game of the strong bullying the weak begins
Dashrant is on the phone to Tripurari I am giving you yet another chance to straighten your ways! and if you fail this time too, then god help you from wrath! And he replied don't yiou worry I won't let your trust down. Dashrant says ,then listen to me very carefully.. Kanak says to her mil, babu ji is observing maun vrat at this moment you should be looking after him! you 'll be blessed inddoing so, but mil.. instead of doing service , you are on my son's case! mil let me remind you babu ji has strictly foridben that the saagi is to kept away from vipolav! Nobody from this house hold will talk to Viplav abiut this subject! Is that clear? she yells and dadi goes quiet..viplav catches Dashrant catches Viplav in the relfection looking at him with his phone pressed against his ear!..
In this scene Viplav rather grandly emulates and mirrors his dada in guile and deceit.. he uses body language and facial expressions that make Dashrant look uncomfortable and guilty. Dashrant is pretty shaken as he attempts to figure out his feigned lie of vrat .An exuberant Viplav claps and exclaims fantastic dada Tirpathi ! you have done well by breaking your silence! and Viplav shakes his head for a response but dada presses his finger on his mouth to indicate his fast is still on! Viplav asks then how come you are talking on the phone? Viplav spins his neck and laughs are you trying to a fool your grandson? Tripurari shouts on the other end prabhu why aren't you saying something? Dashrant loses his marbles and Viplav grabs the phone and hears Tripurari ,don't you worry your work will be done! and Viplav rotates his neck and says what work are you talking about Tripurari? he says oohh Viplav babaa you? well Guru dev wants to help the children of a school! and he'not saying anything ? and Viplav says with a frown..,one moment Tripurari andthen accusingly looks at his grandad.. I can't believe that you have done such a thing... Dashrant's jaw drops . as he looks at Viplav who says such a big news and you hid it from me?bit tell me one thing without speaking to Tripurari how on earth did you manage to relay what you wanted done to him..is this some special understanding ? I inisit you teach me this method too. Kanak arrives to save the day babu ji! have some tea..and Viplav babu ji hasn't broken his fast he either writes or talks in sign language ! ia myself don't understand how he does it? Viplav says wow! the then gets back on the phone to Tripurari ..listen do one thing for me, fish out that Lala out for me! ever since I threatened with him sending him to jail he can't be found at the hospital or at his home that Lala had the nerve to malign my pious Lala ji besides I have a whole land Viplav load of questions to ask him!..tripursi says , yesviplav babba Ill let you know shortly.. and Viplav says thanks and ends the call..and returns the phone to his grabdad and says dada ji,Lala's disappesarance clearly shows ,this was all Lala conspiracy! So now if you may forgive your gransdson.. I made a mistake.. do say something ,he pleaded, look if yiou don't tallkto me I won't be at rest ! and he moves to Dashrant;s side and gives him a sided hug and sing sdahrants tune .. without you my heart pines.. Dashrant beckions him with hispalm and then pulls Viplav's ear. And he criesout in pain and Viplav moans so you won't speak ? he is so stubborn! After all whose grandad is he any way! he smiles at Dashrant who lounges inn this rocking chair Viplav smiles and turns to his mother lets go and let him rest.. Dashrant sits up and says my sutbborness too is for your own good Viplav... just let what I have thought materialize ,then we'll sing all the raagas together! bom bhule..
Seemingly Dhani does talk over her inner most problems with badi amma it's better she doesn't talk to her mother.. spares her the anxiety.. but this latching on I can't trusrt him bit.. is she trying to suppress her real feelings for Viplav.. what are they? whatever? They are not acceptable.. Dhani tends to Badi amma, tell me what worries you all the time Dhani.. it's that I worry about the ashram, had Lala not been ill our case would have been resolved.. by the help of this lawyer.. the ashram would have been ours by now.. badi amma agrees wth her.. but adds ,don't know what's gods will is ?but one thing is for certain..that due to this layer we don't need to stress as much..dhani says , can I say something badi amma.. however much I try ,I find it difficult to trust him.. seems this too is some plot of his.. so much has happened in the past ,that I just can't trust him completely.. badi amma replies,Dhani.. look child he's not so bad as you make him out to be..i sdmit that he made a mistake,but look how much he has done for the ashram. to make up for his mistake! I think you should trust him and give him one chance. Dhani reflects on badi amma's words..
So Kanak is going to make Tania reflect the under hand scheming of this house hold in her behaviour? Kanak checks with Tania.. you have understood what you have to do? she says she does and assures this secret will not leave the four walls of this house. Viplav will not find out anything about this engagement .. the bell rings and her parents arrive and say as soon as she phoned we just got up and came. Haven't done any preparations. Kanak puts their mind at rest, this is house where a daughter's engagement is already happening.. so no problem. she explains, babu ji has kept maun vrat for the happy life of viplav and Tania that's why he's silent if he needs to speak he communicates in writing or uses sign language. The date of the engagement is set for the next day. tania's mother isn't too happy but agrees as Tania begs .. saris are brought home for selection, shalini's in laws arrive, Kanak does the introductions. The girls choose saris shalu choses one but her MIL rejects her choice. and instructs chose something sober. Tania chooses one that is gaudy..
At the ashram dhani looks at the pots and she smiles at the first pot that Viplav tried to lift and warped it's opening brim.. she smiles and fondly says, that rakshas and she recalls bdi amma,s words give him another chance.. Tania comes to the ashram bearing gifts and gives them the surprise actually tomorrow it's mine and Viplav's engagement.. Dhani sighs and gives a sweet smile..and says wow Tania ji this is great news! Many congratulations to you.. Rajlaxmi moans this is a big tragedy for us.. our hero slipped out of our hands! Dhani didn't get him and neither did I !and he dropped in someone else's lap! Dhani says, you have a seat while I go and get something sweet! Tania pulls her arm Dhani you come and sit by me..i have to tell you loads but mainly that I am very happy that me and Viplav are getting engaged.. but iam really stressed too..take a look. I choose this chunari for my engagement, and I need to have some zari work done on it.. but I can't understand how to do it.. Suvarna comes forward and says our Dhani is an expert at embroidery work get it done by her! Tania says really , in that case Dhani you have to sort this out then! and I need it by this evening and it's now your responsibility.. dulari interrupts and says, can I say something Tania?.. thing is an engagement ,wedding are auspicious occasions.. I don't think my daughter should take up this work,, we are widows my child. if we sit beneath an evergreen tree it's leaves wither away,.so I don't think you should seek help from a widow at your engagement,.. each and every widow looks morose but Dhani looks sadly disappointed.. Dulari's message is chilling.. she clearly says ,she doesn't want her daughter's widow hood to echo in your life Tania...
Dhani... is your presence in Viplav's life a reflection of your inauspicious past, or a reality of joyous times to come..? the last scene made me sick at heart..just when Dhani is about to give Viplav another chance to win her trust.. this whole warped issue of Viplav's engagement to Tania is set up by the devil incarnate himself..
