Eisha Singh, who is debuting as a widow in Ishq Ka Rang Safed, talks about the character and how different it is from herself
The new girl in TV land is Eisha Singh who will be seen as Dhani, a widow in the serial Ishq Ka Rang Safed in Colors. Says Eisha, "My uncle, who is also an actor, came to know that Colors was looking out for a fresh face and asked my mom if I would play a widow. Though my mom wasn't sure, I was convinced as I wanted a challenging role... My mom auditioned me and sent the CD to the production house. A month later, I was called for the shoot."
The Bhopal girl, however, is not new to acting as she has a stage background. "I am a theatre lover. I belong to Alok Chatterjee's theatre group in Bhopal," she adds.
"Before Ishq Ka Rang Safed, I had done a small role in Satrah Ko Shaadi starring John Abraham. The film hasn't released yet... After seeing me in this serial, people will definitely connect with me and will surely go to see the film too."
Eisha, who's still in her teens, adds that she can't afford to neglect her studies and will be giving her Class XI exams in Bhopal.
Asked about playing a widow though she is still underage, she says, "No one is forcing to do me so. I am doing it on my free will."
About her experience on sets, she adds, "I didn't have to face any hardship. It is not the typical rona-dhona kind of a character. She's is 0 form widows we have seen in films."
But she had a tough time wearing a sari. "Initially, I wore my jeans under the sari, but later I got used to it," she says.
In real life, she is diametrically0 opposite to her character Dhani. "I am always jumping around in my jeans and tops. But as Dhani, I have to tone down my accent; my gestures and mannerisms have to be very subtle. The moment I am through with my shot and am out of the camera's sight, I am a totally different person ," she laughs.
She adds that she, however, has one similarity with Dhani. "I am very emotional like Dhani. Maybe I am a spoilt child... my parents never scolded me. Sometimes when my dad has given me a stern look, it has been enough for tears to roll down my cheeks."
"Being a newcomer I do face some problems, like everyone else does. But gradually I am learning things like how to take the lights without covering my co actor's light. Everyone on the sets is like a family member to me now," she says, adding, "I am trying to give my best to this character. I even visited some widows' ashrams in Benaras to know the ground reality."
And Eisha is quite impressed with her co-actor Mishal Raheja. I am happy to have been cast opposite Mishal. I had watched his serial earlier and had liked him. Both of us love chocolate and as soon as the shot gets over we begin fighting over chocolates."
Coming back to her character, she says, "I have seen Padmini Kholapure in Prem Rog and want to emote like her. She is a wonderful actress."
"I do not know what is in store for this character, but all I know is that it is going to be challenging for me. Through my dialogues, at some point of time the audience will come to know that my husband was an alcoholic and had died within four-five days after
Last but not the least, she says, "My pay cheque will go to my parents, I am not bothered about money. Whatever I want to buy, I will still keep asking my parents for it. I love to make them spend on me.
