I agree with you guys on Sasirekha. And balarama would never ever have done such a thing. And another observation is that this story is a lot similar to subhadra being bethrothed to duryodhana, him being dau's favourite pupil but ultimately marrying arjuna as we know.

That's true.

I really wonder at the validity of this story. Me thinks a poet was inspired by the Subhadra haran and wrote this.

Also, wasn't Abhimanyu like, really young while the Pandavas were on exile? He was already young when he married Uttara, so he'd have been a child during the exile.

Regarding Subhadra Haran- BRC portrayed that really well. Sagar Salunke showed Dau knowing everything, but acting like He doesn't know anything, and letting Arya do everything. After Arya convinces the nobles of why Parth is deserving of Subhadra, there is a scene where Dau smirks at a smiling Krishna, indicating that He knew.
Abhimanyu was three years old when the Pandavas went for vanvaas. Believe it or not, Bhama taught him archery as well 😉

If Abhimanyu was three at the time of vanvaas, then there's no way he'd have gotten engaged to Sesirekha unless it was towards the end of vanvaas.

Btw, doesn't Vyasa's MB say Abhimanyu was in his 30s at the time of war and death?

I think it's SB that says he's a teen right?

He did get engaged to her when he was 15, according to folklore.
MB did say that 😉
SB says he is a teen 😳
My feeling is he was just out of his teens.

I also feel he was a teen.

According to folklore, he got engaged to her before the exile, and when the Pandavas lost everything in the dyut sabha, Balarama cancelled the engagement because he didn't want his daughter married into a poor family 🤢, and Abhimanyu-Sesirekha were separated for many years, until Sesirekha was betrothed to Lakshmankumar and Ghatotkacha kidnapped her.

I don't like this story 🤢 Shows Dau in a bad light. He is Sesha, after all 😳

I know, me neither. As a child I used to love this story, but as I grew up and actually understood it, I disliked the way Balarama's character was shown.

He liked Duryodhan as a student, but he never approved his actions, but in this story he is very pro-Duryodhan and anti-Pandavas.

He would never insult his own sister like that by cancelling a betrothal just because they lost the kingdom.

Also in this story, Subhadra is kicked out of Dwaraka by Revathi, who is very vampish and tells Subhadra that she has no place there without her husband. 🤢

Balarama-Revathi are like the villains of this story, so for me it makes no sense and lacks validity.

Abhimanyu wasn't too young during the dice game. He was in his early teens i think. He was born right before kandhava dahan and the rajasooya happened after that. So at that time he was around 10-15 years old. Then adding to it the thirteen years of exile i would like to assume he was around 23-24 at the time of his marriage with uttara.
