Di, thanks for sharing the promo.. and i agree.. may be they would have a lot nicer effects and set.. but costumes and jewelry also plays an important role..
i also didn't like her costume..it's way too modern.. she looks like she is going to attend her sister's wedding..
and i don't get this concept of loose hair.. at that time it was considered to be bad if princess/queen left their hair loose..
in Ramcharit manas, Tulsi ji specifically mentioned about it when Kaikiyi goes to Kop bhavan..
they need to design costumes and make-up based on the emotions and feelings those characters have..
during Lakshman-Sita scenes that feeling of mother-son feeling relation will be no where..
they can't make her dress up like that is she is going to meet her parents or in-laws..
also, if they give same kind of costumes to other princesses.. i don't think it will look good when they will meet their son-in-laws (like urmila in front of Ram ji or Bharat ji..)
that is why I miss Ramanand Sagars shows a lot...
Exactly! Back in the ancient days of our puranas, the rules of proper dress and attire were very different from today's modern beliefs. Today, loose hair is fashionable and not believed to be wrong, and each to their own belief, but when showing a mythological show, they should get the attire right. Just because they have good sets and technology doesn't mean they're done with the work. They should do proper research into the attire of people back in those days.
For example, it is written very clearly in Mahabharat why Draupadi chose to leave her hair lose during her 13 year vanvaas. It was a sign of her anger and revenge against Dushashan. He had insulted her, a daughter-in-law of the Kuru vansh, in front of the entire household and sabha. By touching her hair and ripping it lose from its braid, he insulted her in the worst way possible. So for her to braid her hair afterwards would be a sign of acceptance of the abuse. So she left her hair lose to remind her husband every day of the horrible act they had to avenge one day.
If such rules were so strict in the dwapara yuga, why wouldn't they be strict in the treta yuga? Even in Ramayana, there are many examples of proper hair attire. When Vedavati was doing tapasya and Ravan pulled her hair loose, she cursed him in anger.
When Kaikeyi went to the Kop Bhavan in Ayodhya Kand, she pulled her hair loose to show her displeasure and anger. And it's written that by doing so, she caused her husband's downfall and death, for a woman to have lose hair is considered inauspicious.
Whether one believes this rule or not is irrelevant. But this rule was very much respected and believed during the treta yuga, and for an incarnation of Lakshmi Ma to go around in lose hair is SO inaccurate, and it's insulting to the Goddess to show her in that way.
Madirakshi is pretty as Sita, but for me she has no aura of Sita in her present attire. I am very dissatisfied with the CVs in their portrayal of her so far.
