Hi everyone! I would like to ask you a Ramayan question. How do you think it should be shown in the mythos - that Sri Ram is aware of his divinity, or that he seems not to be quite knowing about it? I have seen this shown both ways...what do you think?

Both are true at their sides Bhakti! You know there are 300 versions of Ramayana available in the whole wold, each one having a slight change in the story and the characterization of Ram and Sita! The oldest one is offcoarse the Valmiki Ramayana because it is said to be written by Valmikiji when Ram Sita actually existed in this world and after that several versions of Ramayan are written by several sages! The very famous versions after Valimiki Ramayan are offcorse Ramcharitmanas written bt Tulsidasji which is being read in every home and Adhayatma Ramayana written by Sage Vyasa!

Valmikiji dipicted Shri Ram just as an ideal Man who has followed his duties just like a Maryada Purshottam...according to Valmiki Ramayan Ram didnt show his divine form a single time! He just behaved like a ideal man while in Adhayama Ramayana, Sage Vyas present him as the supreme being incarnate with the full remembrance of his divine and the recognition of it by all sages and wise men! Tulsidasji also followed Adhatatam Ramayan in this Respect!
So Both versions are true, it all depends on what your devotion allows you to believe! I believe in Ram always knowing his divine form, It sounds more appropriate to me since it creates the difference between a normal being and Him! Even in Valmiki Ramayan, though shri Valmikiji have shown Ram not knowing his divine form but still he behaved like he know everything like during he was saving Vishwamitr's yagya from demons He could have killed Mareecha just as Subahu but he didnt and let him go since he already have known that he will play an important role in his further story!
Such Examples just makes me believe that he has full rememberence of his divinity since the very beginning! :)

Varnita, I agree. People think that Valmiki wrote as if Shri Ram did not know about his divinity, but that's not quite true. It's just that Shri Ram never displayed his divinity in Valmiki Ramayan, but that doesn't mean he didn't know it. After all, even in Valmiki Ramayan he killed demons like Tataka and Subahu, and he liberated Ahalya. No human being can turn a stone into a woman without freaking out.😆 So if Ramji did not know he was God, he'd feel pretty disturbed after the Ahalya incident, right?😆It's impossible for God's avatar to not know he is God, but the only difference between Valmiki Ramayana and Ramcharitmanas is that in Valmiki Ramayana, Ramji suffered like a human and felt human emotions, despite knowing he was God, because that's how he was able to teach humans how to live the ideal life. In RCM on the other hand, he was Godly in conduct. The term 'Maryada Purushotham' comes from Valmiki Ramayana, because Valmikiji portrays Shri Ram's conduct to be like that of an ideal human man. He was ideal, but he lived a human life in order to teach people how to live.I love the storyline of RCM better, especially when it comes to the romance between Ram and Sita, but I love the characterization of Ram and Sita in Valmiki Ramayan better because I can relate to them when they live and suffer like humans.😳

I am really agreeing to both! The way Valmiki has shown it is very important to demonstrate the human ideal and the way Tulsidas has shown there is as if more emotion to the story. My bhakti Bhakti self 😕 loves Tulsidas - I think ki he and i see Sri Ram in same way, as the fully realised Lord. And I think it so funny what Janaki has said about Ramji and Ahilya - if he were not knowing his Godness would he not be completely freaking ot when she jumps up from the stone as a living woman? Haan! (That was so funny Janaki dear!😆) So he must somewhere have sensed his Godness - that too perhaps in his lifting the Shivdhanush?
