No, that's not true. I don't think they were twins because Sugriva is called the younger brother, and their fathers are also different.

Sugriva referred to Indra as his father because he was the father of his brother and he gave him the same respect as a father, just like Ram gives respect to Kaikeyi and Sumitra as his mothers. Let me look for the story online if I can find it.

Here's my question:

Which King of Ayodhya much much before Rama cursed Ravan that his descendent would kill him, because Ravan had attacked Ayodhya and unethically killed everyone?

Varnita, I checked in valmikiramayana.net and found this reference to Vali and Sugriva's father. It said it's someone called Riskhaja. This makes me think that they're similar to the Pandavas. The Pandavas' father is called Pandu because he raised them, but their actual fathers were Gods. Likewise, Indra and Surya maybe blessed their mother with their sons, kind of like Anjana and Pavan Dev also. Pavan Dev is Hanuman's biological father but Kesari is his foster father, so the biological fathers of Vali and Sugreev must be Indra and Surya, whereas the foster fother is Rikshaja.

This was said by Angad when he spoke to Sampati during Kishkindha Kanda.

"Oh, bird, my noble grandfather is known as Rikshaja who was a valorous and an outstanding monkey among all monkeys, was the king of monkeys. He has two generous and great mighty sons namely Vali and Sugreeva. My father Vali was highly renowned in the world for his bold acts, and he became the king later to my grandfather...

Here's another story about Vali and Sugriva being the sons of Devi Ahalya!😲 I never heard about it before but it's interesting, right?

Shocking, Surprising, I mean WTH yar, I m still in Gasping position 😆

We all know abt the story of Ahilya and Indra, but when the hell Surya dev done this 😲😲😲

Ahh all these Devtas were soo loose character at that time 😆😆😆 And we all know that just after the union of Ahilya and Indra, She is cursed by Gautama Rishi and is stoned forever, then when and how she has given birth to Sugreeva 😲😕

Ahh This story is going over my head, DO U thing there r any chances of it being true? 😕

I don't think it's true Varnita. First of all, the site I found it listed no source, and also...Surya Bhagwaan is said to be an incarnation of Vishnu so he would never behave like this with another's wife. Indra Dev is the only devta who has a reputation like this, I don't think the others do, especially not Surya Bhagwaan who is a pious and holy God.

Plus, the mother of Vali and Sugriva is known popularly as Aruni, and she is a vanara lady who was married to Rikshaja. I'm sure the main story behind this is different. I heard it's similar to the birth of the Pandavas, and that Aruni was childless for a long time and prayed to Indra and Surya for sons like them.

Hmm this completely makes sense. They both must be the sons of Riskhaja and their Parents might have been blessed by Surya and Indra Dev to have two sons! Ahhh it is good getting extra knowledge, isnt it? 😊

But Honey, Pavan Dev was not the biological father of Hanumanji, the biological parents must be Kesari and Anjani only, He is just called Pawan putra because He was born with the boon and blessings of Pawan Dev. He was not his biological father. How is it possible that Anjani maa was his Biological mother while Pawan Dev was his biological father 😕 No way! It sounds horrible 😲😆 Kesari was the biological father of Hanuman, It is just he was born with the boon and blessings of Pawan dev, he is called Pawan putra!

I think the same will be applied to Rikshaja and Surya/Indra.

Yes that is what bothered me, Surya Dev is said to be holy and Reputed Devta among all and people even equals him to God while such reputation is not given to other Devtas specially indra Dev who has done certain crimes like this Ahilya one, Stealing of Ashwamedha Horse etc etc etc

U know since the very Childhood my Mom asks me to Greet and Pray to Sun as the starting thing of the Day as he is the only God Visible to us. The other gods though exists somewhere but are not Visible😳

The Second thing U have written is making sense, the mother of them might be Aruni and might be blessed by Indra and Surya Dev for having Sons!
