I agree .. the scene was very awkward to see for those who knew that this sort of jealousy didn't exist amongst them.
Just for the sake of showing how much Ram loved his brothers and Dashrath loved Ram there was no need to add such stuff. I never remember seeing anything of this sort in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan .. 😕 ..
but yes I'll try ignore this as a small mistake .. (i guess there are many more in line that we should be prepared to see 😆 )

Btw, I forgot to mention this before, but the scene I really disliked in the 2nd episode was Bharat protesting when Dashrath fed Ram. I was so shocked!😲 For those who haven't seen the scene yet, it went like this. Dashrath was feeding Ram first at the dinner table and Bharat, Lakshman, and Shatrughan all became sullen and refused to eat. When asked why, Bharat protested saying that their father never feeds them first, always their Ram Bhaiyya, so they don't want to eat.

I know this type of jealousy is natural in normal, real-life kids, but Bharat, Lakshman, and Shatrughan were supposed to be ideal brothers. I would never expect such behavior from them, even during childhood. They all idolized their Ram Bhaiyya and became happy when he was loved and respected by all. They never became jealous when Dashrath made evident his favoritism towards Ram. That's what makes their characters so great and idealistic, and this scene totally destroyed their divinity to me.
How many agree with me? Am I overanalyzing this scene or did you find it as insulting to the characters of Ramji's brothers?🤔

What, Have they Shown Like this 😲😲, I m really Stunned Big time 😲...r They Gone Crazy...From what Evidences r They Showing Such Things 😲, In Each and Every Version of ramayan we have only read about the Love Between Four Brothers that how the other three Brothers Taught to give the Position of Father to the Elder Brother, Plus How they all become So happy When Someone Appreciates Ram and get Angry When anyone Disrespect him, even during Childhood,

Then Why these Sagars are Creationg their Own useless Stories and insulting the Brothers of Ram . Specially Bharat who is Said to be the Most Devoted brother of Ram and Who Consider Ram as His Ishta Dev, can He Utter Such Words for Him ? 😡

In other Way too Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrugan are the Part of Vishnu Himself, Lakshman as Shesh nag, Bharat as Sudarshan Chakra, and Shatrugan as Panchajan and I think Since the Beginning they all have the Idea about their Divnity So they all Considered Rama as their Ishta Dev since the very Beginning and never Showed Jealousy and all Like Normal Brothers.

Ramayan is Said to be "Jeevan ka Aadhar" which Specially Teach us the value of all Relationships, and if the DIrectors r Gonna Spoil the actual meaning and lessons of ramayana for giving some masala to the Story, I m gonna Quit it 🤔

I don't remember such scenes either. In fact, Ramanand Sagar would not add such jealousy scenes even in his sleep.Confused In fact, this sort of scene was never in Anand Sagar's Ramayan either. It too highlighted the love and respect all three brothers had for Ramji. Actually, there was this one scene during the kids' childhood when Manthara tries to poison Bharat's mind against Ram by taking him to the Raj Darbaar and telling him that the throne is his, but Bharat politely tells her that it belongs to his Ram Bhaiyya and no one else. I liked this scene because Bharat was a great soul who was always at the feet of Shri Ram, whether it be as a child or adult. To show him jealous of Dashrath's love towards Ram greatly demeans his character.🤔
But you are right. We should be prepared to see such scenes in the future.

I agree Varnita, to show the brothers as jealous is totally against their characters and even does not make sense, because they're all a part of Vishnu too.🤔 They created this scene to show Ram's love towards his brothers, but they could have done so in a different way. They could have shown Dashrath wanting to feed Ram first, but Ram refusing food until his brothers had it. The brothers in turn should have refused the food first, and in the end all four should have eaten together at the same time. That would have been much nicer.😊

Bharat was never jelous of Ram ji. Showing it that way is an insult to his sacrifice

He had an empire at his feet but he chose Ram

thats sacrifice

I certainly agree - can't believe I forgot about that scene. Ram was the object of all three younger brothers' love and devotion. Showing devotees envy each other for their Lord's affection is a common trope in devotional literature and media presentations, and that comes across as innocent, even sweet because it's out of love. This was devotees envying their Lord for another person's affection, when in fact at the height of devotion which Bharat, Lakshman, and Shatrughan personified, such matters would be pretty much invisible to them. Poorly written incident, indeed.

If this were a more faithful adaptation of the Valmiki text then that scene would have been ok since for the most part, Valmiki portrayed them as humans. But this show claims to be an adaptation of the Tulsidas retelling which takes a far more devotional approach to the story where the divinity is more explicit. So yes, that scene is odd given that context.

While Valmiki Ramayan portrayed the characters to be more human, it did not decrease their idealism in any way whatsoever from RCM's. Ram was still Maryada Purushotham and his brothers were still the ideal brothers who were all devotees of Ram. It is a common misconception that because Valmiki Ramayan was slightly less spiritual oriented than RCM, the characters had human flaws. They did not...the only difference is that Ram is more like God in RCM whereas in VR, he was more human and suffered like a human, but he and his brothers (all of whom were amsas of Vishnu too) were still ideal humans.

I enjoy seeing devotees envy each other for their Lord's affection, because like you said it comes across as innocent, but showing them envy their Lord is plain ridiculous. I am shocked that such a scene is coming from the Sagars, who have made Ramayan twice in the past.

Did anyone see today's episode yet?
I'm kind of worried about the pace of this story. They claim to be moving fast but apparently, Ram will be coming home in episode four. So far, RSR is definitely the faster one, so at this rate there's no way they'll complete the series in 64 episodes.
