Was that b4 the Samudra manthan? In which case, shouldn't it be Indra, who was cursed, rather than Airavat? Due to his fall from grace, Vishnu did the samudra manthan.

Oh, and arrogance was one of the hallmarks of Durvasha - be it this episode, his attempts on a ruler Ambhik(?), his cause of Lakshman's end, his visit to Draupadi and so on. One of the typical traits of rishis was their humility, but Durvasha was a major exception.

Durvasa was not exactly arrogant, he was short tempered in my opinion. Much like Parashuram.
First I also thought Indra. But Indra wasn't dismembered. Was he? Airavat was beheaded by Vishnu and got Mukti from the curse. May be I am wrong.😕

But I don't know why I have the feeling, one who cursed this celestial is Indra. Durvasa might be haughty but he never got cursed or fell from his grace.

Aditi wins!!! It was Kabandha, who was cursed by Indra, which IMO is the case of the pot calling the kettle black.

I agree with Sema. It's either Luv or Kush...but just for the sake of guess, can it also be Bhishma Pitamah? He also confronted his father, Shantanu, in a battle without knowing their relationship, and was not a single child because of the births of Chitrangada and Vichitraveerya. He was definitely as famed as his relatives...but I'm guessing Aditi had Luv or Kush in mind, not Bhishma.

Bhisma is not a single child, Santanu & Devi Ganga had seven more sons before him, Bhisma was the eighth.So yes, I think Bhisma may be the answer. But Luv or Kush is possible too, right?
