One more clue: This person is from the Mahabharat and is somehow related to the Pandavas.

The answer is Nalini, Draupadi's past life who got cursed by her husband.

The longer version is in my book, but basically, Nalini was the wife of this sage (will refer to my book for his name) who was very hard to live with. He mistreated her on more than one occasion, but she dutifully served him because her mother had always told her that serving one's husband would give her salvation. Then, many many years later, the sage told her that he was always testing her only because he wanted to see if she was really a devoted wife, and he was pleased with her so he would grant her any wish. Nalini told him that she wished to see the entire world and its wonders in different forms, and have 'pleasure' with him in all those different forms, so the sage took her all around the world and they consummated their marriage many times in the form of deer, fish, and every and any animal. But Nailini still was not satisfied with life and kept asking more. In the end, the sage was angry with her and cursed her that since she could not derive pleasure from one man, she would me married to more than one in one of her next lives.

Then in Nalini's next life, she was born as a daughter of a sage and prayed to Lord Shiva for a man who had all the ideal qualities five times by accident, and Lord Shiva told her that she would have five husbands, each of them exuding one of the qualities she described. (I think everyone knows this story the most.)

Then in this girl's next life she was born as Panchali.
