I'm sad as Mohit left. It was expected but Mohits also been in my top 3 favourites right from the beginning.
Coming to the episode, my review in order of performance.
1- Maalavika - It was a so so performance. Hats off to her for attempting this song. It's a Hindi song with a very Marathi feel to it. There are parts where there is no breathing space. She did run out of breath, and you could tell. When I saw the promo I was disappointed, but when I saw the episode she wasn't that bad. Like Farah said she added a South Indian tadka, which made this song a khichdi of Hindi words, Marathi feel and South Indian tadka!! Not her best, but she did ok.
2- Revanth - when I read my reviews I feel like I praise Revanth too much, and I decided I wouldn't today. But he was genuinely good today and I'm compelled to praise him. Like Farah said this is a difficult song. The words are Urdu and the pronunciation of many words for a Hindi speaker is also confusing. I must say he did a good job with his pronunciation. Ive never liked this song, and was disappointed with his song selection, but I'm glad he chose this. Another example of his versatality. He's never sung something like this. Very happy to hear Sonu Nigam say some good words for Revanth. Also glad Anu Malik says he'll work with him (he's said that to many contestants in the past as well, let's hope he sticks to his words).
Rohit - he had by far the best song. And he sang pretty well. In fact I enjoyed it until he did something after the first stanza. I won't say it ruined the song but it no longer remained my favourite performance of the day. Also like Sonu said you don't always need to add that something extra to the end, I agree.
Khudabaksh - Is melodrama his middle name? Talking about his performance today, am I the only one who thought he sang flat? There was almost no inflection. Though he sang with a lot of feel. For the first time I connected with his song. But the tears were too much. He may be emotional but sometimes he goes overboard. Sometimes I think he's done a Ph.D in acting. I genuinely thought he was a nice person, but now...
Mohit - he always sings such beautiful songs. This is another song I absolutely love. When he sings high pitched songs he's usually brilliant and today wasn't an exception. Though I didn't like the end. But like I always say, it's like I'm listening to the same thing. Even then he deserved to stay over Khudabaksh. I wish him all the best, and hope he makes it big.
My ranking-
1. Revanth (I really didn't want to rank him number 1)
2. Rohit
3. Mohit
4. Maalavika
5. Khudabaksh
