Terms and Conditions for Indian Idol (the "Program")

1. ELIGIBILITY: The eligibility criteria as prescribed by SET India Private Limited/Sony Entertainment Television ("SET"):

i) You must be between 16-30 years of age as on September 1, 2005. All selected candidates must carry proof of age (Birth Certificate/School Leaving Certificate/Ration Card/Passport)

ii) If you are between 16 to 18 years, the natural/legal guardian should accompany you. You and your guardian must carry proof of age and identity such as birth Certificate/ School leaving certificate/ ration card/college id etc.

iii) You must be a citizen of India

iv) You must not have any criminal record nor be of an unsound mind

v) You must not be under any management contract or recording contract or merchandising contract or any other similar contract.

vi) Employees/relatives of the producers, owners of the channels, agents and/or its affiliate companies are not eligible to participate.

vii) You should carry 1 passport size photograph plus 1 full length and 1 frontal photograph of yourself.

viii) From each city the Program producers will be choosing 1000 participants basis their phone audition recording. Out of which 975 participants will get a chance to participate in the "Audition" in the city of their choice (out of the 4 audition centers, selected by the participant at the time of registering) and 25 participants will jump the queue and audition directly in front of our esteemed jury. This selection will be at the sole discretion of SET.

ix) The Top 11 Finalists of Indian Idol series- 1 will not be allowed to participate in the auditions this year.

2. REGISTRATION THROUGH AIRTEL: Pre-audition Round for mobile subscribers exclusively on. AIRTEL will be valid from 9th Sept'05 to 15^th October. The registration process is as mentioned below:

i) Call 646 and say "Indian Idol" to register.

ii) Follow the instructions to register. You will be requested to provide your personal details in the below mentioned order -

i. Your Name

ii. Date of Birth (8 digits, e.g. for 1st February 1978, you need to key in 010278)

iii. City of Audition (Press 1 for Mumbai, press 2 for Delhi, press 3 for Lucknow, press 4 for Kolkatta)

iv. Record your voice clip as per the instructions provided. Please leave a voice clip of over 1 minute in duration and upto 3 minutes to be eligible for your name to be shortlisted.

v. You can review your voice clip and can also re-record the voice clip, if you do not like it.

vi. After you are satisfied with your voice clip, please confirm to register all your details and be provided with the Audition number. You will get a registration number for each Audition clip saved by you.

vii. You can call back anytime to record another audition.

viii. One can record as many times as one wants and multiple persons can also record from one mobile number. The registered entries will be sent to SET for selection.

ix. The list of selected registrations for the Audition round will be made available at predetermined dates on 646. Participants will have to call and enter their registration number as provided at the time of the registration, to check on their selection.

x. The selection of participants for Auditions will be decided by SET and will be its sole discretion.

iii) Although care has been taken to ensure accurate voice recording, SET and AIRTEL make no warranties or representations as to its accuracy or being true version of the original sound. SET and AIRTEL shall not be liable for any direct, incidental, consequential, punitive or indirect damages arising out of use, access or inability to access the 646 Voice portal Number of AIRTEL.

iv) The participants agree that the rights in the recording given to AIRTEL shall exclusively vest with SET, including but not limited to all intellectual property rights and any other rights worldwide and in perpetuity. SET may re-record or broadcast the recording or any edited version of the same submitted to AIRTEL in any manner whatsoever without any payment to the participants.

v) Dates: The dates for the pre-auditioning rounds on AIRTEL are as follows:

The dates may be rescheduled at the discretion of SET and AIRTEL.

vi) Call costs

i. The Prevailing Call charges to 646 will at Rs.6 per minute for AIRTEL callers. This does not include roaming charges, applicable taxes. Please contact your local AIRTEL Customer Care number for more details

3. REGISTRATION THROUGH LANDLINE: Participants can access and register for the Indian Idol Pre-audition Round using their MTNL / BSNL landline phones. The registration process is as mentioned below:

i) Please call the number as intimated by SET on Sony Entertainment Television or through any other media, to register for Indian Idol

ii) Please select Indian Idol Auditions from the Menu and follow the instructions to register. You will be requested to provide your personal details in the below mentioned order -

i. Your Name

ii. Date of Birth ( in 8 digits format, e.g. if your date of birth is 1st February 1978, you need to key in 010278)

iii. Select the City of Audition (Press 1 for Mumbai, press 2 for Delhi, press 3 for Lucknow, press 4 for Kolkatta)

iv. You will be given a registration number on successfully entering all the above details. Please do write down this number for future reference

v. You can call back anytime to register for audition.

vi. One can record as many times as one wants and multiple persons can also record from one landline number

vii. The registered entries will be sent to SET for selection and shortlisting for the Audition round.

viii. The list of selected registrations for the Audition round will be made available at predetermined dates on the same IVR number. Participants will have to call and enter their registration number as provided at the time of the registration, to check on their selection. Selected participants with get the given the details of their auditions.

ix. The selection of participants for Auditions will be decided by SET and will be its sole discretion.

iii) SET and the Landline service providers shall not be liable for any direct, incidental, consequential, punitive or indirect damages arising out of use, access or inability to access the IVR Number.

iv) The participants agree that the registrations details as provided by the participant exclusively vest with SET, including but not limited to all intellectual property rights and any other rights worldwide and in perpetuity.

v) Dates: The dates for the pre-auditioning rounds are as follows:

vi) Call costs

The Prevailing Call charges to the IVR number are Rs.2.40 per minute.

4. General Rules

i) By accessing the telephone numbers for the pre-audition calls, you agree to accept all the terms and conditions stated herein, else, you may not participate in the Program.

ii) SET will choose 10,000 participants in each of the 4 cities on first come first serve basis.

iii) The selected 150-200 participants will go to Mumbai for further training and auditioning.

iv) However, SET at its sole discretion may decide to change the number of participants to be selected for each round.

v) The costs of boarding/lodging and travel to each city of audition shall be borne by participants themselves.

vi) The participants for each round for the Program shall be selected at the sole discretion of SET/panel of judges.

vii) SET may at its sole discretion hold registration on ground venues for pre-auditioning a limited number of persons on a first cum first serve basis post closure of registrations.

viii) The decision of SET on selection of participants for each round shall be final and binding.

ix) SET along with AIRTEL reserve the right to amend these Rules at any stage of the Program.

x) The employees of SET and its agents/partners for the Program are not eligible to participate for selection in the Program.

5. The Courts in Mumbai shall have the sole and exclusive jurisdiction on

any dispute in relation to the Program.

Airtel has tied up with Sony Entertainment Television for an exclusive opportunity for its consumers to gain a direct entry into Indian Idol audition in their quest to become the next Indian Idol, after Abhijeet Sawant. To participate in Indian Idol 2, One has to dial 646 and leave his voice recordings (of the song), which will be screened by Sony. Chosen participants will be directly auditioned by the TV show Judges.

From each city the show producers will be choosing 1000 participants basis their phone audition recording. Out of which 975 participants will get a chance to audition in the city of their choice (out of the 4 audition centers) and 25 participants will jump the queue and audition directly in front of our esteemed jury. The Idol crew will travel to 13 cities, including Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Indore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Karnal, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata.

Tarun Katial, executive vice president and business head, SET India said, "Last year, Indian Idol took viewer engagement and interactivity to new heights. The show catapulted its finalists to ultimate stardom. This year too, the channel will give its viewers the platform to realise their dreams and put fame and fortune within their reach while offering distinctive, breakthrough entertainment. This year too, Indian Idol will be packed with all the elements of reality, scale, emotion and the journey itself, that will make the Indian audiences connect with it, leading to extreme interactivity involvement and mass frenzy."

Indian Idol 2 will be produced by Miditech and Fremantle and the judges (Farah Khan, Sonu Nigam and Anu Malik) and the hosts (Aman Verma and Mini Mathur) of the show are same as in Indian Idol 1. Airtel, Asian Paints, Nokia, Marico, Maruti and Pepsi are the main sponsors for the show. In October, auditions will be held in Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata. The contestants will be short listed by the producers; judges will choose 150 Idol aspirants from the thousands registered. Anu Malik, Farah Khan and Sonu Nigam will be the judges again for the new series of Indian Idol.

Indian Idol is the Indian version of the hugely successful American Idol, a music-based show in which viewers select the country€™s pop idol who can sing and dance on stage. The winner bags a recording contract with Sony BMG and a contract with Sony worth Rs 1 crore. The first Idol aired on Sony from October 2004 and the winner, Abhijeet Sawant, was declared in March 2005.

Fame Gurukul, the music-based reality show ends on October 21 and Indian Idol 2 is planned to kick start from November 14.
