is it just me... or does it seem like contestants on indian idol get less opportunities than other shows? for example... i was reading an article about how sumedha (in sa re ga ma pa) has already been signed to sing for mahesh bhatts new movie Jaanat... i mean there are plenty worthy contestants in II as welll... yet we barely see any of them...

what do you guys think?

ya i think de main reason is other shows primarily hav music directors as judges. In II we only hav one ...Anu Malik n I dunt think he is currently working on anything so der r not as much oppurtunities for dese contestants to go into playback singing.....most of dem get noticed after dey get eliminated not while der on de show..liek wen AM sed he will definitely do a song wid Puja and Deepali

yeah it definitely benefits the srgmp contestants to not only have music directors as judges but also as their mentors. they work closely with them before each performance. so even if they don't sing so well that day, the music directors/judges are still more aware of the contestant's capabilities. the judges on indian idol only hear them in the galas and sometimes i think the contestants' performances in the gala round isn't always a perfect picture of what they can really do as singers. and on srgmp they're being exposed to at least 4 of the biggest music composers around today vs indian idol where there is only one.
