Eye Opener

First I must say I was very much impressed by Sonu. He showed one more time how humble down to earth gentleman he is. He respected all judges opinion , did not get drawn into any arguments. He is easily the most knowledgable person on sur on II but did not push his point. He was very balanced in his comments . Did not go overboard in praising and offered priceless constructive criticism. He is a great music lover, dedicated, sincere, honest, softspoken and of higest integrity and a perfectionist. He was drawn into correcting Anu Malik on Prashant but the egoist person like Anu did not seem to mind it at all. It is easy to see why he has so huge following and why he is loved , admired and respected by masses. He is known to keep the commitments despite his failing health to avoid any inconvenience to organisers. His maturebehaviour should be eye openere to squabbling judges.

He is never shy to point out good points of contestants and its a treat to see him listening attentively and encouraging when contestant takes brilliant hurkats. I used to look forward to his comments in II 2. He showered praises to worthy contestants like Karunya and Amey and rebuked Neha Khakkar and Panna for concentrating only on performance.

I was disheartened to see that he was not very enthusiastic in praise to a single contestant on II3. His comments were measured but did not seem to enjoy any performance greatly. Emon, Amit, Chang got good comments which is expected of any special judge. In contrast, he gave great comments to VOI contestants. Abhilasha .. he said she can be great playback singer in a year. He loved Harshit's voice quality and predicted great future and also promised a lunch with him. Abhaas, Irfan were all great and experimented with Sonu songs which were wholeheartedly appreciated. It once again shows wide gap in quality of contestants of the two shows.

Pls join me to wish him speedy recovery . Its agonising to music lover like him to keep away from singing. Sonu .. You are the best !!!

Speedy recovery? Why? I knew his throat was bad, is there something else? I do agree with all that you said. I too watched SVOI for the first time today mainly because Sonu was the judge. The talent there is great, but having said that they get trained by music directors and such great singers. They do not have to worry about performing to get votes. If Emon, Puja, Amit and Deepali(if she was there) are trained by music directors like Jatin lalit or Alka,etc I think they too can come to that level.

Had Sonu been the judge this year, we would have found more Karunya's and Amey's but nevertheless we found Amit, Emon, Puja and Deepali. If these 4 work very hard, they will have a great future.

I have always been a hardcore Sonu Nigam fan, and yes I did notice the difference of his opinion in II and SVOI. Which, to be very honest, doesn't surprise me I mean II used to be alot better in first two seasons and this season we have singers like Parleen, Deepali, Abhishek, and Smita out and still have Prshant and Ankita; this is so stupid.
I am an II fan and I never liked SVOI but I watched this episode since Sonu was gonna be on there; it was so crazy to see that show just has too much talent. It was pretty disappointing too..

Well! I guess that answers my disappointment. You definitely have a point there that SVOI, contestants are trained.

Well from some reports in newspaper he fell down while performing. He was running high fever and has been neglecting his health issues due to overpacked busy schedule.

Ya I read this too, but thought he was fine. I hope he gets well soon.

I was happy that Sonu gave accurate comments to the contestants on both
shows. I wish he could be the final judge/mahaguru with veto power for all
musical show on TV. He deserves such a lofty position.

What training? Its only been a few weeks right now. The singers were excellent even before the training started. 😛👏

at57, I haven't seen either episode but looking fwd to hearing some good music and hearing Sonu's comments. 😃
