It's a fairly common sight to see eliminated contestants and their surviving counterparts in tears on reality talent hunt shows. And at times tears are seen in the eyes of some of the judges too. But last week on Indian Idol, when Parleen Gill was voted out, everyone, including host Mini Mathur were in tears. Mini, not only hugged Parleen but was shown sitting quietly on her chair crying after the elimination became public knowledge. Talking about why she got so upset, Mini says, "Normally I don't get emotional, but I felt sad for Parleen because he went before his time. He had cleaned up his act and made a fantastic comeback. He did well for two weeks in a row, only to get eliminated after a good performance. I can do my job without getting emotional but it was a bit much for me to control myself here. The camera had stopped rolling and I didn't know that my crying was getting filmed. But I have no regrets." The lively and energetic anchor of Indian Idol says she connects well with all the contestants. "As a co-host my job is to motivate them and be with them in their moments of stress. But when you are there with them for three months, you become one family, therefore when someone gets eliminated and leaves the show it hurts." |
