I agree---it wasnt a very impressive piano round. Most of the girls were 'adequate' singers but no one was 'superb' or out of this world. None of the girls had a strong enough impact lik wht Amey had on me durin the piano round. I'll nvr forget the way he completely immersed himself in2 'Tu hi re'.
The problem I found was tht no one had an echo in their voice. (apart frm the girl who sang 'tujjhse naraz' maybe) There was no goonj or power in their voice---this could be coz of the jarring background score or maybe even the mike settings. None of them had a great throw in their voice. Most of them sing in tune so thts the bright side.
Some of them sing well but dont have gr8 voice quality, lik Shifa---she has a very well tuned voice (infact the best voice tuning of the lot) n sings with ease but I find her kinda nasal and her voice acutely sharp.
As for emoting---most of the singers were singin just for the heck of it n not adding the right feel to the words, esp Richa---i completely agree wit wht Javed Saab said abt her song: she was singing a love song as if she were mournign at a funeral. Sayin tht, since its their first time in frn of the camera--- they might be nervous so emoting aint tht easy. Charu got the naughty/teasing feel of the song she was singin but it just didnt make a strong enuf impact---maybe she could've added a more husky n sensuous tone to the song.
Ankita was good at the song she sang n she has gr8 spunk but I dont see pulling off something classical or melodious. I kinda doubt her versitality.
