Hey Everybdy!!

After months of wait, loads of speculation and a fair-bit of expectations, Indian Idol 3 finally gets underway!!

Short Update:

• Auditions have been spread over 12 cities - also London and Dubai…
  
• The show kicks off at the heart of India – Delhi at the National Stadium…
• Contestants selected for Mumbai: Sreeju Premrajan, Amit Sharma, Richa Aneja
• Twin bros pair audition for II but rejected
• Annu and Javed have 2 fights over contestants in the first episode itself
• An Alisha crazy fan lives the dream of his life tonite

Detailed Update:

The show starts with clippings of past contestants with Minnie's voice in the background… Contestants are shown queing up for auditions… This time's the auditions have been spread over 12 cities… The auditions have also been held in London and Dubai… The show kicks off at the heart of India – Delhi at the National Stadium…

Hussain and Minnie greet the viewers and declare the 3^rd season of Indian Idol open!!

Contestants have been lining up in que from 2 AM and waiting for their turn… Finally next morning, the gates are set open and the aspirants are shown rushing in for auditions after a long wait, but no effect on their enthusiasm and energy…

The jury is introduced… They take their seats and auditions begin!!

1^st Contestant: Shubhangi from Nodia 21 years

Anu Malik says – You have it all… He likes her voice, her attitude… For him, she is IN

Javed Akhtar – likes her voice but has problems with the pronounciation. Also he says that she is more into western mode and it is yet to be seen how she would do in Indian songs…

Udit finds her singing artificial… Also he says that she falters at high pitch notes…

Alisha says that she has a beautiful voice but not coming to mumbai…

Javed and Anu Malik have a bigfight over her… Anu says that this is a fatal mistake that these people have made and will regret it…

2^nd Contestant: Sreeju Premrajan Delhi – 20 years

He had some Malyalam connection to him and Udit sings a few lines in Malyalam for him aqnd asks him to do well tonite… He sings very well!! He had a guitar in his hand and Anu asks him to now sing a song without the guitar… Again he impresses the judges… Anu says – u r imperfect… but I like this imperfection!! You are coming to Mumbai… All judges unanimously select him…

3^rd Contestant: Amit Sharma from Punjab, 21 years

He sings well, and is selected for Mumbai…

4^th Contestant: Harpreet Singh 21 years from Ludhiana… He was a lil funny to me… Judges reject him... Javed says u can take out an album - many ppl do that and earn fame... ut for Mumbai - No... Honestly he wasnt that good...

5th Contestant: Sameer Soni 26 years... Now this was one of the highlights of the show😆 This guy comes with flowers and a cake in his hand... The judges ask him wat is all that for... He says he will give it to them if he is selected😛 Javed says - the new generation has progressed so much that now they are offering bribe on National TV😆 He sings "Happy birthday to you"😆... His accent is mindblowing😆 Then comes the real thing - he says he is the Biggest Alisha fan on earth😛😛 He is crazy about her and his dream has come true that today he is standing in front of her... He gives her the flowers and Alisha cuts the cake... He gets emotional and says that if u ever make a list of ur greatest fans, please have the list started with my name... Alisha says 1 to 10 will be just you😳 (where do i go then - maybe No. 11😛)... Ok, then Alisha sings Mujhe Ishq hai ishq se - just for him... He also presents her a teddy bear... He is ultimately rejected, but he is not worried - he had just lived his life's biggest moment😛

6th Contestant: Ram Rastogi & Shyam Rastogi - 20 years (twins)
First for auditions is Ram Rastogi... He is singing a Manna Dey song... Annu says he will be listening very closely as he is himself a big Manna Dey fan... Annu rejects him outright after listening😕 I was baffled - he didnt sing that bad All judges reject him... Alisha says u had more "jhatkas" than singing... He leaves, only to re-appear in 2 minutes... He almost forces judges to listen again... Everyone is surprised... Alisha says "Aap Ram Hi Hain Na?" - did u take a magic pill? So she liked his singing, but then comes the surprise... It is not Ram but his twin bro Shyam who had sung this time... They then sing a duet... Judges say they r good entertainers but not good enough for Mumbai... They leave reluctantly... Ram says that its ok that they did not select me, but why not Shyam? Alisha had even praised him...

The focus now shifts to Amritsar...

Minnie is shown at the Golden Temple Amritsar seeking blessings for the show... She then is out on the lookout for "talent" 😉 She is shown on a tractor searching in farms for the next Indian Idol😆 And she asks an old uncleji if he knows anyone who sings well... He says yes - very well - my son😆 The guy sang ok... Minnie gives him a pass for Delhi... She selects 5 contestants from Amritsar who will perform in Delhi for the judges...

Back to Delhi, the girl from Jallandar to perform now👏👏

7th Contestant: Richa Aneja 16 years 👏 This is wat we all were waiting for😳 She sings "Jiya Le Gayo Ji mora"... And wat a performance😛 Annu then asks her to sing some new song... She sings Beedi... All judges are unanimous - u r coming to Mumbai👏 This was the best performance for the day and I feel this gal will go far in the competition... While leaving she innocently asks the judges - wat song shud i prepare for mumbai auditions?😳😃

Now the search moves to Kashmir for the next Indian Idol...

Minnie is now in Srinagar😆 She says that the auditions were to be in Gulmarg but due to heavy snowfall, they have had to shift it to Srinagar... They show some pretty faces😳 You know, one gal was resembling Gauri(Pradhan) a lot😳 Anyhow, they shortlist a few and take them along to Delhi...

8th Contestant: Sarodee Vara from Assam
She was a very simple girl... She was tense and was biting her nails whilst waiting for her turn... Hussain comforted her and tried to calm her down and told her not to bite her nails... She sang quite well... But sadly, Annu Malik is a No-No Javed Akhtar likes her voice and is full support for her... Alisha too says Yes to her... Annu and Javed have the second big fight of the day... Oh yeah - i love this😛😆😆 Controversy - fight - drama... reality tv😆 Javed tells Annu to keep shut once he has given his verdict - let other judges take independent stand... Annu says - why shud i shut - i don like her and i will say so... Javed says - u have already said that, now let Udit take his own decision... Sadly Udit says No and the poor girl has to leave

These were the contestants focussed upon... Besides this, a few moments of the show:

• One guy sang really funny😆 He had his own peculiar style of singing "Tujhe dekha to ye janaaaaaa sanam"😆 He is singing with eyes closed and Annu quitely walks up to him and the poor guy is😆 Annu imitates him and all judges have a laugh... Javed says that Aapne sur ka dum nikal diya aaj...
• That Ludhiana guy Harpreet Singh was hilarious... He so innocently says that when he sings in his hostel, everyone asks him why he is singing and guards tell him to stop... When they came to know of Indian Idol, they all told him to go for auditions so that they will have shanti(peace) for a few days😛 Annu says, wahan to shanti ho gayi, magar aapne yahan ashanti faila di😆😆
• There was a woman who came laughing so weirdly - they have shown that in promos too😕 She was irritating😡 Judges were quick to bid her goodbye...

Hussain didnt have much to do, more in action was Minnie tonite...

Gainers Tonite: Sreeju Premrajan for me was a good singer tonite... Shall look forward to him...

Star of the show: Richa Aneja from Jallandar👏👏 - maybe she is the answer to people who say Indian Idol is not about singing😳

Show Rating: 8.5 / 10 For a start, the first episode wont disappoint you... It lives up to the hype... It is able to maintain interest... Alisha is stunning and the jury on the whole seems a good one... Contestants were good... The only thing that could be avoided was - 2 Big Fights between the jury in the first episode itself😕 Besides that, not many flaws😊

Thats it for tonite... Will leave u with a lil trivia question😉 Ok, my favorite all time song happens to be a compostion of Annu Malik... It is a Rahul Roy - Pooja Bhatt film from the 90s... Lovely song!! Can anyone name it😃 Will reveal the answer next week in my update...
