Kirti (the host and interviewer) comes on with her oh-so-very-sweet-voice to welcome all the listeners and gives an amey-zing introduction for Amey.
Kirti: Hello all you lovely people of India-Forum, this is your host Kirti and today we will celebrate online birthday of a special celebrity. Today we have with us a singer who has become a sensation. He has become the King of Hearts, after stealing the hearts of more than a million with his cute smile and melodious voice. A participant in Indian Idol season 2, he was a favorite of the three judges and the public. Today he celebrates with us his birthday, please join you hands together in welcoming none other than Amey Date!
Hi Amey and welcome to India-Forums and on behalf of all the members we wish you many happy returns of the day.
Amey: Thanks alot, thanks alot and hi to everyone!

Kirti: Hehe, ok...we will start off with this special birthday message with one of your favorite fan Charub aka cherry...
Amey: Great...
Kirti: She says, WOW..hi Amey this is Cherub, I'm your biggest fan, you were my favourite in Indian Idol and ofcourse a very very very happy birthday mere side se...aap jiye hazaon saal because otherwise I will die. I have a really badcrush [megha thinks: bad? why bad?] on you, I just love your smile. I also voted for you big time!
Amey: Thanks alot, so sweet of her. So sweet of her, thanks alot for voting also and for loving me!

Kirti: Okay Amey...so let's start off with questions...so do you have any special birthday plans?
Amey: Uhh..not very special but obviously I will be going out with my friends. I trying for outside Mumbai, on some farmhouse or my friends banglow. We can have 2 days togerther, the 31st and also 1st (April) is also a holiday. So I'm planning to get a nice 2 day holiday outside for my birthday.
Kirti: Oh wow, that would be a lovely 2 day break for you ehh..from the hectic recording and everything...
Amey: Yeah...I always enjoy with my friends so my birthday will definately be with my friends..
Kirti: Okay.....that seems to be a nice birthday plan I must say....Now talking about your Indian Idol days, how has life changed post Indian Idol 2?
Amey: It has changed because now I can see on the internet people have my communities, they have fanclubs for me, they call me, they talk to me. Where ever I go also, people recognize me and come up to me, ask me for autographs and take snaps...I mean people are loving me so much after Idol, and also during Idol they all loved me...so this is nothing but the love of people that's what I'm really happy about...
Kirti: Haan woh toh hai hi, like from being nobody now your somebody...and now everyone is like 'that's Amey, that's Amey'
Amey: Yeah yeah...but still there's a long way to go, I have to do many things, but whatever I have achieved after Idol is nothing but the friends, the fanclubs, the people, the love...which is very big for me..
Kirti: Yeah I know aur aapka ek special fanclub [megha thinks: ek?? noo sweety...more than just ek, hehe] humare India-Forums mein bhi hai jahan par they [yayyy...shes talking about us fans] call themselves Amey-zing fans..and they spell is as A M E Y Z I N G...hehehe
Amey: Hahaha! Very smart very smart....Amey-zing! I like that...
Kirti: Hehe...so now talking about your fans, this fan of yours called Shabzi, she says: Do you get alot of fans mobbing you after Indian Idol? Agar aisa hai toh can you share any experiences, how do you feel when you hear "arey yeh ja raha hai Amey..."
Amey: Uhh...there's alot of incidents that I can share with you...but one is when I came home after my exit from Indian Idol, there were people asking for my address on roads, at shops and then so many people just came to my house..they just wanted to meet me, nothing else. So that was a great experience, they searched for my house and came...they were sitting infront of my and crying. There were small small girls, and people were telling me when I got out, their daughters who were 3, 4, 5, 10 etc years old did not attend school and were just crying....this is something that touches your hearts...
Kirti: Exactly..you were truely a senstion, I mean aapke exit ke baad, kafi log upset hue and were very disappointed ke yeh kya voting system hai [me thinks: yeahh..tell me about itt! argghhh grrrr uggghhh uffff]
Amey: Hehe...yeah it was unbelievable, I never thought in my life this can happen. That was one experience...secondly when I do stage shows, there are many people backstage or they come onto stage and die to meet me and shakes hands or talk to me....they take autographs and take snaps...this is just ameyzing!!
Kirti: Yeah I know...I'm sure..
Amey: Hehe, and there is this one fan of mine, she gifted me a coal painting..
Kirti: So cute, she drew a painting of yours with coal?
Amey: Yeah chalkcoal painting
Kirti: Toh aapne lagayi ke nahi aapne ghar mein?
Amey: Yeah it is hung at my house...
Kirti: Okayy..nice...so Amey aapko kaisa laga tha when you were out of Indian Idol 2 and all judges stood up for u? They wanted a re-match, they walked-out...you're are so popular...how was the experience?
Amey: Well this is something different, the experience is really different when your out of the competition and the judges, the people don't like the results. [There was some disturbance here, or something was cut out..I couldnt catch this line...sadly] When I had to leave II, that time I was really cool and while I was in I was very cool....but newayz it was really lovely of the judges and the people that they loved me so much!
Kirti: Meine kahin pada tha, aapne kaha ke once you were out you were numb for 2 mins..you didnt realize what was happening..and you didnt expect it?
Amey: That's true...well no one really expects their exit you see. When it was declared I was out, for about 2 seconds I was a little...uhh....I mean....it was shaking....I was blank, I didnt know what was going on until I saw all the people shouting and demanding for a re-match..and also the judges walking out....there was a big mess there....but yes ofcourse for about 2 mins I was a little blank....hehe...that happens...that is human...if it doesnt happen then there is some problem...
Kirti: Hehe...yeah...well Amey we've also noticed that the favorite contestants are declared out....after you were voted out Karunya was the hot favourite, and everyone thought he deserved the crown, but Sandeep Acharya won the crown, similarly it was Amit who was the hot favourite in Indian Idol 1 but Abhijeet Sawant won [me thinks: reallyy?? I always thought Rahul V and Abhijeet were hot favourites...but what do I know...] So what is this pattern...what we expect never happens?
Amey: Hehe...I don't know...I was also a participant, but somewhere I feel that it should be like that only, why I'll tell you....if your a favorite and some one else wins the competition, then it becomes equal for both. One is happy because s/he is the winner, and the other is happy because s/he is a favourite...so both sides are winners and it's a lovely thing that this (voting system) is happening...if the favourite one wins and the other is left out, then there is not an equal balance. [megha thinks: wow..I never looked at it this way...what a nice thought....amey ur ameyzing!! but dil hai ki manta nahi...i wanted only you to win...*sigh*]
Kirti: But, jo jeeta wohi sikander....don't you believe in that?
Amey: I guess it's all about how you look at it. Just winning the competition, if you think you are a winner....[Once again this part was cut...I could not get the rest of the sentence] .....that is only victory.
Kirti: Exactly because in the long run that will only help...
Amey: That's true that's true. The competitions are just a platform for you, you have to sing good, impress your audience, make them happy by your singing, by your song...there is not just one competition in your life, there are so many opportunities, so many albums....maybe some other day I will come out with an album, maybe I will sing in some film, maybe I will do show...so this is the real thing, the competition is just one part of it.
Kirti: Exactly Amey, I must say you have lovely thoughts and a really good and positive attitude [me thinks: I love you Kirti...hehe]
Amey: Hehe...thanks thanks....this is just my experience of life.
Kirti: Exactly...and I'm sure you've learnt alot
Amey: Yes yes..I am like that. I always love to learn about stuff and am very curious about everything. [sorry....but this line made me laugh...haha]
Kirti: Alrite, now taking a break from these questions, let me read out another message by another fan of yours called Pooja aka cool_pooja, she says: Hey Amey Bhaiya, I hope I can call you bhaiya (Amey laughs here), I'm a huge fan of yours, maybe not huge enough as my other fellows here at I-F but huge enough that I cried at your exit when you left Indian Idol, because I truely felt that your singing talent was greater than anyone's there. I have become a huge fan of yours since you sang Tu Hi Re in the piano round, I mean you were so fabulous in that. I'm not saying this to sound cheesy but seriously that was your far best performance in Indian Idol!
Amey: Hehe, that was so sweet of her. As I told you before there were so many girls, small small girls who still come to my place, and even if I'm not there, they meet my mom and sit for sometime...they all really love me so ofcourse I would love to be their bigger bhaiya, bada bhai....
Kirti: Hehe....okay....so abhi bhi Amey ka magic fade nahi hua hai, Indian Idol ko ek saal hone wala hai but still Amey is the hot favourite.
Amey: Yeah...it is my luck that people still remember me....aur aise hi hona chahiye, it should be this way, as I told you winning the competition it not as big as winning the hearts of people, this is a very big thing.
Kirti: Alrite...on that positive note, lets read out another message. This fan is VishakaGal12, she says: Hi Amey, I think that you're very good looking, talented and an excellent singer. I am your fan since you have sang Tu Hi Re-Piano Round and I never miss any performance of yours.What I really love about you is you never show too much of celebrity attitude and you're just like a normal guy next door. Amey: Thanks alot Vishaka. So many fans, actually so many friends and it's such a nice feeling that they are wishing me on my birthday, this feeling should last forever.
Kirti: It will Amey, it will......So this question is the hot pick for this interview as all the members want to know, when will we hear you in your next album [megha thinks: next? you mean debutđł] When is it releasing?
Amey: Actually...I'm not getting proper time to concentrate on my album, record it, and then make the video for it. It needs time and proper planning. There needs to be a company to support it, also monitoring, promotions, networking and everything. Coming out with an album is my thought, and I'm ready for it, but there's lots more things that are important to release the album. But I'm planning on it, maybe in the next 4-5 months [me thinks: whyy...whyy oh whyy so long?? newayz all the best for it] I'll think over it, I am planning.
Kirti: So Amey, isnt it that you have signed a contract with Sony Tv for 2 years or something, aisa kuch nahi hai that top 5 sign a contract?
Amey: No, that was for Indian Idol 1, that was their strategy that top5 sign a contract with Sony, but this year they didnt sign anyone else except Sandeep Acharya. He is the only one in the contract, the rest are free from any contract and are doing everything on our own [me thinks: argghhh I knew I hated SonyTV ufff]
Kirti: Okay.....so....are you singing for any bollywood movies recently?
Amey: Not big movies, but I am singing for small films like regions films, bhojpuri films, marathi, bengali, gujrati...
Kirti: Aaj kal these regional films are becoming really big
Amey: Yeah....the TRP's are going really high, higher than some of the hindi films. So yeah I'm singing small jingles and small songs, not any big films. But it all depends on luck, some good music director may call me some day. [God bless, you will have music directors waiting in line to work with youđ]
Kirti: Didnt Anu Malik say on stage that he will sign Amey for his next...
Amey: Hehe, I guess he forgot it later on...
Kirti: Oh....okayy then....hehe. Well Amey, we really don't hear any more albums of Sandeep Acharya or Abhijeet Sawant. Is it that after the show is done, singers also disappear?
Amey: Uhhh, well it's all media [something..sorry coudnt catch it]. Till the time your on television, till the time your interacting with the people, they know you, once you go out of the screen, you start fading out, because the people's memory is very short. So you have to keep yourself in the media, on the screen, doing shows, doing albums, singing for some films or acting somewhere so you have a fac-value. These are the things that keep you fresh and people remember you by. While you are in Indian Idol, the channel promotes you, you are in media so people know you, but once it's finish, it's very obvious people will start to forget you. But I am very lucky that my fans are with me, on the net also and are wishing me on my birthday. This is a lovely feeling. [Any one notice how he very clevery answered this question, not once mentioning about Abhijeet and Sandeep's sudden fade...hehe...I love you Amey]
Kirti [Still stuck on her question though lol]: Yeah I know, Abhijeet ke phirbhi humne 2-3 albums sune the, but for Sandeep there was just 1 album, and then they all vanished. All the media attention for 3 months, then after we dont get to hear about the contestants...? [Kirti dear...what are you saying? Hehe, Abhijeet had 2-3 albums? I only remember 1...and I think we are hearing of other idol contestants doing shows and all, releasing albums, doing playback singing...there is alot of singing competition in India afterall đ]
Amey: Well it's all about promotions. Sandeep's album was not promoted as much as Abhijeet's. Obviously because Abhijeet was the first Indian Idol, everything was new for everyone. So the attention from the people was very high, so the album was also promoted highly. The 2nd one was not as popular as Indian Idol 1, so the promotion also was not as much as the 1st one. It happens...
Kirti: Well seriously, jaisa aapne kaha tha ke Anu Malik has forgotten, I think all these judges just make tall promises infront of the media, that we are promoting the young singing talent, but they all seem to be busy in their own world.
Amey: Yeah that's true and there is nothing wrong in it actually, because this is the industry and they work like that.
Kirti: Wow Amey, I must say you're really positive....hehe...seriously that's a very good attitude.
Amey: Hehe, thanks thanks.
Kirti: Okay, now lets move onto some messages and do some masti.
Amey: Yeah yeah [this is a very famous line of Amey, we all Amey-zing fans at Amey's Fanclub know about 'yeah yeah' hehe lol]

You were one of my favourites on Indian Idol and you have a very different and unique voice which is what makes you stand out. Amey: Hehe....so I'm thankful to her that she's expecting everything from me, the album and everything. As I told you very soon I'm trying for that, so it will come out.
Kirti: Haan Amey, aapko jaldi say album nikaalna hai, because humare India-Forums ke members are really keen to hear you again!
Amey: Yeah and I would like to know from them which kind of songs they want me to sing in my album?

Amey: It's a big list actually, Lataji, Ashaji, Kishore Da, Rafi Sahab and my guruji Suresh Wadekar.
Kirti: Oh..hehe ok...sunrise or sunset?
Amey: Hmmm...sunset.
Kirti: If suppose you win Rs. 2 crore on KBC [megha thinks: aahhh with SRK that is, ofcourse], what would you do with that money?
Amey: 2 CRORES? Oh this is a difficult one, I can't answer it. I don't know how to spend it.
Kirti: First of all, aap apna album nikaalo ge, isnt it?
Amey: No no..hehe...uhh that is all fine, definately I will work for it, I will do my album, I'll invest in property, I'll buy a house and all the other neccessities of life. But besides that, I'll definately work out the money for the small bachcha's on the road, who do child labour. This is the biggest problem I would say, of Mumbai nowadays. Agar bachche kharab ho jayein ge toh youth bhi kharab ho jayega and the balance will not be there. So I would definately like to do some work for those people. [I have fallen in love with Amey all over again!!!!đđđ]
Kirti: Wow, well Amey you have such a big heart huh..
Amey: Hehe, I dont I dont..
Kirti: Your definately a nice human being..

Kirti: Hehe....alrite...now Amey we will give you a name of your co-contestant from Indian Idol 2 and you have to sing a song for them. You have to express your feelings towards them, through a song.
Amey: Towards my co-contestants?
Kirti: Yeah, like I'll just name them. I'll start of with Sandeep Acharya.

Kirti: Yeah..

Amey: Okay...Karunya is most of the time not here in Mumbai, he stays in Hyderabad...so...'Mera toh jo bhi kadam hai, woh teri raah mein hai, ke tu kahin bhi rahe, tu meri nighaah mein hai...Mera toh jo bhi kadam hai, woh teri raah mein hai'

Amey: Uhh...okay...Meenal is in Mumbai with me, but now she's also doing not many shows with me, because she's released her album recently. She's trying for many years here in Mumbai to get proper work, proper settlement and sing for nice projects and everything, so I would like to tell her that 'Har ghadi badal rahi hai roop zindagi, chaun hai kabhi, kabhi hai dhoop zindagi..har pal yahan jee bhar jiyo...jo hai samaa, Kal ho na ho'
Kirti: Lovely song, and very appropriate...hehe...seriously your thinking alot huh before sings songs for your friends.
Amey: Hehe, yeah yeah [ohhh...there's the yeah yeah again lol]
Kirti: And last but not the least, Neha?
Amey: Okay...(thinking)
Kirti: Neha was truely a baby out there, isnt it?
Amey: I know, yeah yeah...
Kirti: Karunya's crush is there. [I have no idea what Kirti meant by that]
Amey: Haha...
Kirti: Haha...

Kirti: Wow Amey wow, that was really good fun and good singing.
Amey: Thanks thanks, hehe.
Kirti: Now please tell us, who was your favourite judge in Indian Idol 2? I know it's a difficult one..
Amey: Uhh..Farah Ji...she was very straight-forward, very practical, very cute. She has seen so much of the industry and she has experienced life very well. The way she talked, the way she used to react with us, very normally and telling us many things about the performances, not just that but also how we shud carry ourselves. A very unique lady actually, very different lady.
Kirti: Okay...favourite co-contestant?
Amey: Uhhhh.......[wow, he's thinking really hard].......[anytime now??] Panna...Panna Gill [finally lol]
Kirti: Okay...and toughest competitor?
Amey: Toughest competitor...Karunya [I simply loved the way he said this] Indian Idol 2 naa?
Kirti: Haan haan...okay...so most embarrassing moment, if any?
Amey: For Indian Idol 2 naa...I was very new, media and camera was also very new for us, and they used to come for takka tak shoots, and we used to share ourselves and show how we stay there and the things we do there. So for the first time when they came, they were asking me about Ravi. I tried not to say anything negative about anyone, but when it came on TV, they editted it in such a way that everything was negative. So that was really shocking and embarrassing for me.
Kirti: Yeah, the way this media can twist and turn your words, it's really dangerous!
Amey: Yeah they can do anything, they are the killers..hehe.. [lmaođ]
Kirti: Haha....well Amey we have loads of birthday messages, and this one is by naaz123, she says: Happy birthday, Amey. Wishing you much luck and continued success on your birthday and always. Please come to the US for a show. We all love you here. Love Naaz.
Amey: So sweet, so sweet of her, Naaz. Maybe if I get opportunity and good shows there in US, I'll definately come there and I'll let you know on the net so that we can meet up there and you can see me there. Thanks Naaz.
Kirti: Oh wow, that is so nice..hehe. Okay, Alisha B.A. [which is supposed to be Alishbađ] would like to know if you like the new judges of Indian Idol 3, or you prefer the old 'trimurti'? This time theres Anu Malik, Alisha Chinoi and Udit Narayan, before it was Anu Malik, Sonu Niiggam and Farah Khan. So this time it's all 3 from the music industry...
Amey: Uhh...for me I would always prefer Farahji and Sonuji there because they are from totally different [something..sorry coudnt catch the word] Sonuji is a singer and Farahji is a choreographer so it's important for Idol, but also now they have decided that it is not going to be a performance oriented competition, they will just concentrate on the singing this time..
Kirti: Oh okay, so like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa..?
Amey: Yeah yeah [đ], you dont have to perform really...in Indian Idol 1 and Indian Idol 2 we were practicing and rehersing so much everyday because we had to carry 15-16 camera's infront of us, and keep eye-contact with every camera, dancing, reacting with the people...so I guess it's a little easy for the contestants so in this case these judges are also very good, because Alishaji is a singer, also Uditji is a great singer of India, and Anu Malik was already there.
Kirti: So do you think since you had to focus on so many aspects in Indian Idol 2, your singing talent was a little side-lined?
Amey: In intial stages ofcourse yes, it happens because everything which is new to you, you have learn. You have to practice it alot and make it perfect. Even we faced the problems, we couldnt concentrate on our singing because there were so many others things to do. But, after that, doing it regularly you get into it and get a nice balance of it. So now I can say is that, whatever I achieved from Indian Idol and the channel game is the confidence and learned so much about media and technical stuff.
Kirti: So you are much more confident now?
Amey: Yeah yeah....and as I told you before, it is important to always learn things. If I had not gone to Indian Idol 2, then I would not have been so confident and never get to know about talking to people, interacting and reacting to people, talking to media and everything. So it helps you..
Kirti: Okay....so all your fans want to know are you still in touch with your Indian Idol 2 friends?
Amey: Yeah yeah. Most of them are in Mumbai now, they shifted here and are working. Most of the time we meet up...Antara is already there, Meenal is already there, Panna also sometimes comes to Dadar and we have a nice party bash, Ravi is also student of my guruji Sureshji Wadekarji [lolđ] so we meet up there, Karunya also comes to Mumbai sometimes and we meet up, Sandeep also. So we are in touch, Neha also meets me sometimes.
Kirti: Okay... that's really nice...well Amey your birthday wish list seems to be endless and this one is from Mehak(karuthebest) and she says: Oh my God, (she must have said that a hundred times, and then she says,) I can't believe it that Amey is on India-Forums, ok my message for him is that, hi Ameyji, I'm Mehak from Canada [megha think: yippppyyyy finally someone from Canada...I'm gonna pretend it was međł] I love you alot and wish you a very very very very very very happy birthday. Amey: Hehe, I guess there is some planning for a world tour after July, somewhere in August. So definately I will be letting you people on the net know, so that you can be prepared for that. Thanks alot for wishing me Mehak, that's really sweet of you, your all the way in Canada and still thinking about people in India here [OKAYYYY...once again I'm going to pretend I am Mehakđł]. Kirti: Well I have to tell you Amey, people living abroad are more rooted to India, they are very close with India, they follow the Indian industry...
Amey: Yeah yeah.. they also miss it...true true....yeahh...[lol his yeah yeah's continueđ]
Kirti: Hehe, okay so before we read out the next question, members wants to know how does it feel when your surrounded by fans and they come upto you and praise you, and now hearing all these messages from your fans, so how does it feel Amey that you are getting well wishes from US, from Canada, from Australia, etc
Amey: This is seriously a great feeling actually, this is what you want in life; love from people. They wish you, they keep your updates, they think of you, they call all the way from US, London, Canada, Austria and all, just the whold world. They keep records of you, and wish you on your birthdays, special moments, and they SMS you, so it's really special. You feel proud of youself...hehe.
Kirti: Hehe, so sweet. Well Amey, last but not the least, message from this girl called Dharti, she says: Hi Amey, this is Dharti and I just want to say that I love you sooooo much. Kirti: Hahaha...Okay last but not the least, you want to give any advice to the aspiring Indian Idol contestants?
Amey: Uhhh....just...be confident, but confidence isnt everything. You need to learn everything from your guru's, there has to be someone to show you the right path...concentrate on your singing capacities and practice, and once your get a certificate from the person who is guiding you; your guru, to take part, then only come into it. Just because of your confidence level, dont take part. It's not that easy, I understand everyone has a dream of coming into Indian Idol, getting recognition from people, getting famous and getting the glamour, but it is not that easy. You have to study properly for that, you have to learn, you have to practice music. Once you get a certificate from your guru, then everything is yours.
Kirti: Okay...because emotions run really high on these competitions isnt it? High drama, high emotions.
Amey: Yeah....the base of everything is your singing talent, your God gift, you abilities and how smartly you work on it. You have to practice alot and be talented basically. You can do everything in life then.
