This confident boy had made it to the theatre round of Indian Idol 2. A jovial person, he doesn't have a leg and uses a Jaipur leg. Singing is his dream and he is more confident about his abilities this time round.

He loves to fly kites, play carom and watch movies. A foodie, he loves biryani and shammi kebab.

Judges' comments
Udit and Alisha: your singing has soul.
Javed: Your voice is very different and that is your strong point.

Parleen Singh Gill

Age: 19

Place: Haryana

Occupation: Student (BSc)

He believes he is a good singer and performer. A trained singer, he made it to the Top 50 in Indian Idol 2. He loves biking, football and basketball. He also plays golf with his father.

He wants to be a playback singer. An alternative career is in the Indian Army.

Judges' comments
All the judges were very impressed. No one could find any fault in his singing.

Aside: After he was selected, he stood on a table and sang Teri deewani.

Harshida Madhaparia

Age: 19

Place: Middlesex, England

She loves to dance and was a Boogie Woogie first runner up. She describes herself as an entertaining person who can make people laugh. She quit her studies last December to take up music seriously. She can also sing in Gujarati.

She sings in a community band called Musky for the last six years. The band sings Bollywood songs to bhangda and garbha.

Judges' comments
Anu: I like your voice, style and smile.
Alisha: I like your 'rough' voice. You are an uncut diamond.

Puja Chatterjee

Age: 24

Place: Jharkhand

Occupation: Student (class XII)

She has been learning classical singing for the last nine years. She studies at Emerald Heights International School, Indore. Her school has arranged for her vocal training. She learns Indian classical, western classical and instruments.

She comes from an artistically inclined family. Her eldest sister is a painter and another sister learns kathak from Rani Karnad (Girish Karnad's wife).

Judges' comments
All four of them were impressed and applauded her.

Rashmi Vijayan

Age: 19

Place: Dubai

Occupation: Student (Media Communication)

She can sing in five languages and has been training in Carnatic music for eight years. For the last one year, she has also taken up Hindustani music. A good dancer, she learnt Bharatnatyam for eight years.

Her hobbies include dancing, playing the keyboard, blogging, surfing the net and mimicry.

Judges' comments
Javed was very impressed with her.

Aside: After her selection, she sang a song in Arabic.

Roshan Singh

Age: 25

Place: Brisbane (Australia)

Occupation: Environmental engineer

The lead vocalist in a five-member Australian band called 'Sounds of Bollywood', he flew to Mumbai especially for the auditions. He has performed on Community Radio in Brisbane, on pre-recorded desi songs. He has also recorded for an Australian album. He believes he has a unique voice, a natural ability to sing well and thinks he has the potential to sell records.

His hobbies include travelling, playing outdoor sports like basketball and cricket, song writing and performing.

Judges' comments
Javed: You should dream big, but not despair if the dream shatters. You will still be successful.
