Apart from becoming familiar in Indian households, participants of reality TV shows have become mini celebrities

There seems to be a fresh influx of talent in the music industry with television reality shows churning out some more new entrants, all aspiring to become accomplished singers, actors or performers. The array of reality shows on TV has not only given exposure to deserving talent but has also catapulted the common man's attention into a national frenzy through the process of voting for their favourites contestants.
Apart from becoming known faces in the Indian households, the participants of reality shows have become mini celebrities. Along with meaty playback singing offers, the television industry, modelling industry, and commercial advertisements all seem to be beckoning them.
Says Amey Date, the fourth Indian Idol finalist over whose elimination, a big hue and cry was made, "Anuji has offered to give me a break in one of his forthcoming movies and details have yet to be finalised. I am also in talks with Shankar Mahadevan, Sandeep Chowta and Vishal-Shekhar for future singing assignments."
Amey has recently sung for two movies; Colour Red and Divorce with the music done by Santosh Sin
gh and is in the process of releasing his own music album, which is deemed to be out, in a couple of months. Presently, all Idol contestants seem to be touring for shows in India and abroad.
Minal Jain, another finalist from Indian Idol says, "I have just returned from Tanzania after doing a show with Abhijeet Sawant and Rex D'Souza (of Fame Gurukul) and I'm slated to go London and Australia next."
Minal has not only sung for Ram Gopal Varma's forthcoming film, 'Go' but also for its Tamil and Telugu versions. Presently, Minal prefers to concentrate on her music album, which she hopes to release soon. "I simply love Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's work. My album too shall have a touch of Sufi music to it," she said. Coincidently, she also has offers for acting in movies, coming her way.
Panna Gill, too, is in the process of releasing his own music album, which will be out in the last week of August. "Most of the songs in my album are romantic tracks and the music has been composed by Mani Shankar. I will be seen dancing with a troupe in my videos," he reveals shyly. The good-looking fella has also received numerous offers to walk the ramp and model for attires.

😭 😭 😭
Antara Mitra, the last of the female contestants on Indian Idol, hailing from a small village in Kolkata, now has her eyes set on settling down in Mumbai permanently. She disagrees that talent hunt winners have it easy in the glam industry. "The struggle is always there, the only respite is that we are a known face and have had a smoother entry in the industry than complete newcomers. Getting good projects depends on relentless efforts."
