Gopalakrishnan HYDERABAD: The fond hopes of people in the twin cities came crashing down with Karunya losing the coveted title of the Sony Entertainment Television's Musical Talent hunt- Indian Idol 2 to Sandeep Acharya on Saturday. With a Hyderabadi making it to the final round, the city was agog with excitement and watched the live contest keenly. With even judges rooting for Karunya, none had doubt about the talent of Karunya but were just hoping the audience votes too would go in favour of him. Thunderous applause filled the air when the anchors informed that they were going to announce the results within a few minutes. Confident about Karunya's performance, his admirers remained seated in front of the television sets with prayers on their lips. As the anchors announced that Sandeep won the contest, many seemed crestfallen while some walked out of the houses in disbelief. Frustration Silence prevailed at Himayathnagar corporator Mettu Sekhar Reddy's house as soon as the results were declared. Sekhar Reddy was one of the lead campaigners for success of Karunya in the city. He had made all arrangements to celebrate the victory of Karunya with his close friends, including Mayor Teegala Krishna Reddy and another corporator Seelam Prabhakar, but in vain. "Though Karunya is the nation's favourite to win the title, luck did not favour him. We felt very sad after results were announced," the Mayor said.

He said Karunya should not get disheartened with the results and announced his plan to open an academy with him. Karunya is in his third year of B.Tech in an engineering college in the city.

I think it was a case of too little and too late...the support from Karu's hometown!

I thought after hemu's ouster from SAREGAMAPA hyderabad will wake up. but they slept away and sandeep swept away the title

people in hyd have not slept......let me tell u onething.people down south vote for the person they like ,but they dont belive in voting rigorously.they have voted him,but they didnt know that they shd vote by giving cell phones and make them vote throughout the day😆.....

you are right. I think they don't know the concept of multiple voting.😕. Or they do not want to waste their time and energy on voting. I don't know but I am dejected. anyways their loss is sandeep's gain.

dont worry arpit ,i have come to know that they are planning many stage shows and music contracts with karu.people in hyd never make karu feel that he is lost.dont worry

Is the news real!👏 Thats great. But it should not be only in hyderabad but all over because then he will become drifted from the rest of India.
