II 2 - The Inside Story

For all those who are wondering what happened with the 'may the best one win' principle, here's the inside story of this year's Indian Idol.

* Among all the other contestants who made it to the top 12, there were two genuinely talented boys - Amey and Karunya.

* as the rounds progressed, a boy from bikaner realized he could never make it to the top. and that's when his family intervened with all their wealth and influence.

* Sony TV bowed to all that wealth and influence and assured sandeep's family that he will be the winner.

* Amey was eliminated in a dramatic manner.

* Karunya was proving to be the best. Sonu simply loved him for his talent. He was pressurized by Sony TV to over-do this admiration and create a 'bechara' image for sandeep.

* Sony made people believe the voting was genuine, and that sandeep was janta's favourite by sending him to the next round after round.

* with just 2 weeks to go, suddenly the judges, Sonu in particular, starts finding non-existent flaws in Karunya's performances. and rave about the non-existent transformation in sandeep.

* sandeep declared winner.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WAS NO MENTION ABOUT THE TOTAL VOTES POLLED, ABOUT THE NUMBER OF VOTES EACH OF THE CONTESTANTS GOT. THEY DID ANNOUCE THIS LAST YEAR - TOTAL OF OVER 1.5 CRORE VOTES. ABHIJEET 52% AND AMIT 48%. THERE WAS NO MENTION THIS YEAR BECAUSE THE VOTES WERE NOT CONSIDERED AT ALL. SANDEEP HAD BOUGHT HIMSELF THE TITLE.

Injustice has been done to true talent, and time will go to prove that sandeep will be a non-entity while karunya will be the singing sensation.

I know a lot of people will oppose this, but I do not care any longer. I will not be visiting this site after today.

Can u prove it was something different than what i said? can u justify why sony tv did not announce the number of votes? in a reality show votes are believed to be the decider. and every TV channel boasts of the number of votes they recieved to show off the popularity of their show and their channel. Then why didn't sony mention a single word about the votes?

hi sharmliaa,you might be right and at the same time might be totally wrong.but one thing is for sure ,indian idol never succeeded in bringing the real indian idol.they shd have named it beauty show or best smile show rather than talent hunt.THEY ARE SAYING INDIAN IDOL IS NOT JUST SINGING ITS ABOUT EVERYTHING......THEN WHY DID THEY CHOOSE THE CONTESTANTS BY LISTENING TO THEIR SINGING ,THEY MIGHT HAVE ASKED THEM TO SMILE A BIT,DANCE A BIT.....INDIAN IDOL IS USELESS.

why do you assume things? sony did not announce the total votes because of saregamapa challenge 2005 on zee. challenge final grossed more than 4.5 crore votes while indian idol - I grossed only 1.5 crore. no idea what the total votes were this time, but definitely they were nothing close to the challenge figures. sony did not want to embarass itself to zee people, so they did not annouce the votes.

yes in today's world, many things are manipulated, however one cannot afford to manipulate reality shows, since this generates a lot of revenue to all concerned.

yes, karunya is very good singer and maybe he should have won, atleast he managed to reach the finals. Amey had be content to be in the top 4 only. In Indian Idol - I, the best singer Rahul Saxena was eliminated so early. this is what reality shows are all about - just enjoy them and do not take the results to heart.

I know u r feeling bad that karu lost the title. But Sandeep was not bad either.

I know Sandeep will never ever do such a thing. He is god fearing don't blame Sandeep for KAru not getting the title.

Everybody knows that karu is a extremely powerful singer and will survive with or without title. But SAndeep will not be remembered if he doesn't get the title. He will be long forgotten.

So in the next one year he can build his career. But karu's career has alread begin. He will go places. 👏

This may be true but as far as I feel is only that Karunya was not favored by either of the Judges because of Sony. He sings well and so he deserved this place and comments. Not declaring the actual no. of votes does not mean that cheating has been done with any of the contestant however if any one have the full proof of such conspiracy against the contestants then they should come up with those evidence and I still believe Sandy or his family is not after this victory. 1st they doesn't seems to be so rich to vote for him day and nite 24 hrs for 5 months secondly its not Sandy's fault if Janta has been voting for him nonstop. So, I think better look for some proofs before saying anything against anyone. Although I am a Karu fan and I m really disappointed by his defeat yet it wud not be fair wid sandy also for spreading such rumors against him and his family. 😊

I think farah comments were the stupidest she thinks sandeep as indian idol is justified bcoz he can attract girls .Gosh how shallow is that .I personally would buy karunya's album watch his concert wherever in Uk,whether in london ,birmingham or scotland.I will definately not waste my precious time ,money and energy to go and visit a sandeep show as he he such a rubbish singer .I have better things to do than that

I find your sensational story to be so ridiculous. You have no proof of this. I am a big Karu fan but havethe dignity to accept defeat graciously. I do not need to slander the winning opponents character.

There were t wo piano rounds for boys. Sandeep won the highest votes in his piano round. Karu won the highest otes in his round. His fmaily did not intervene because his father was against hhim enetring the competition.

Throughout the contest he was getting good votes. Your remarks are baseless. I suggest you stop thenonsense and concentrate n something more worthwhile.
