Well, if someone is going to post something telling a certain set of fans what they can and can't call their favorite contestant (referring to the post: Amey fans please accept the reality) please don't be surprised at the reaction you get. If someone wants to call their favorite their 'idol', be it any fan, its not a point to argue and harp over IMO. It has nothing to do with being tolerant. If its an argument that has some point, I'm sure lots of people won't mind debating and discussing it.

If you believe in contrustive criticism and 'interesting' replies, please do the same instead of posting one liners like ''so-so' is overated and 'so-so other' is a better singer'. Give some concrete and sensible reasoning to prove your point and then people will take your argument seriously and in the right stride. We can have a good debate but there's no point if its only one-sided. I suggest going back to the overrated post and reading some of the posts. I think they do an apt job at arguing the topic at hand, with some good evidence and reasoning. But we haven't heard your views yet. The topic is open and ready to be replied to. 😊

Personally, I enjoy defending my favorites so bring on the constructive criticism. 👍🏼

Though I hate to put any contestant's name here, but since I have been asked to justify some of the earlier posts.. so here I am..

Regarding Overrated Topic:

I didn't say "Amey is over-rated". Rather I said "Amey is overrated in this forum". Some of the evidences are: One of the poll has a question "Who is better singer Amey Date or Sonu Nigam?" The poll result is Amey Date is a better singer. Another poll asks "Who sang Tadap Tadap ke better? KK (original Singer) or Amey Date?" . The result - no pint in guessing - Amey Date gets more votes. From these poll results it appears today's reigning bollywood singers are inferior than Amey Date. Doesn's this mean Amey Date is over-rated in this forum? I am afraid if tomorrow some thread pops up with the question "Who is better singer amongst Kishore and Amey or Rafi and Amey" (God forbid this does not happen) then also Amey may win the poll.

Regarding Amey shouldn't be called as Idol:

Here also I didn't say that fans cannot call Amey as their idol. I only told Amey cannot be addressed as "Indian Idol" (since this topic is under Sony TV section so I obviously referred as "Sony's Indian Idol"). In my opinion if you say Amey as "Indian Idol" then you may taking the credit away from the REAL Indian Idol who deserves all the Kudos for winning this competition.

I agree with u on the first part but not on the second part.

I think that we all become fans of the person who WE think is the best one on the contest and naturally we want him/her to win the contest.In the case of amey fans they thought that Amey was the best(can't blame them) and so if they consider amey as their indian idol there is nothing wrong with it.Come on we r not choosing the PM of India,we r choosing a winner in a pathetic singing contest with pathetic judges so i don't consider it wrong if people consider amey or anybody else as thier II.and amey was definitel the II material altho karunya is my fav and i am hoping that he will win,but even if he does'nt who cares😆

The biggest example of constructive criticism in II2 is Sonu Nigam's constant ribbing about Sandeep singing only Udit's numbers. It is only after Sandeep came out of Udit's shadows that he has shown some improvement and variety in his performances.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with the first point. Some of the replies to the posts you referring to agree with what you've said as well. For the KK poll, a lot of replies give credit to the original singer. Its KK's song, he's primarily the reason its popular and that's why the contestants are singing it. He shouldn't even be an option on the poll to behonest. But at the same time, your point is relevant to a lot of contestants, not just Amey. I've read many posts saying Panna sang Jhalak Dikhlaja better than HR, that Karunya's version of Are Ja Re Hat Natkhat was better than the original etc. Same goes for many posts in the SRGMP abd FG forums. Many forum members prefer renditions over originals. I've also seen some polls/posts comparing FG contestants to legends such as Lataji and Mohd Rafiji as well. 😕

For the Sonu Nigam vs Amey Date poll, majority of the forum, whether Amey fans or not, agree its a baseless comparison at this point. I think Sonu Nigam is winning that poll, but I have to check the results again. There are at least a couple of Sonu vs Amey polls floating around the forum. Some replies support Amey because of Sonu's image on II2- they don't like his judging, comments etc but admit he's the better singer. So I guess the results are not based solely on singing.

My point is such comparisons aren't really unique to Amey and the II2 forum so its not far to say he's overrated on the forum, comparatively speaking. If he's overrated, then so are a lot of other contestants and that sort of defeats the purpose of calling someone overrated. Amey is def one of the more popular contestants on the forum so we see him compared more often to other contestants (whether FG, Idol, SRGMP), established singers etc.
