Are we voting for music?

How many of you like music? What a dumb question, right? Of course we all do and we do everything right from collecting CDs to buying tickets for stage shows on music. How many of us watch reality shows on music? Well, not many but there is a fair percentage of population that watches these reality shows. The most popular ones in India are Indian Idol, Sa re ga ma and Fame Gurukul. Reality shows on music have always attracted suspicious eyes from viewers and critics for being more of spin-off shows than talent- hunt shows. One reason why people back off from voting is because they think why they should spend money on voting? Well, why not? Can we get anything in this world free of cost? I don't think so. If we can spend thousands of rupees in collecting cassettes, CDs and buying tickets for the so called 'musical nites', then why not spend 3 or 4 Rs once in a week to vote for deserving candidates?

This post is for all those people who think they are wasting their money and time in voting for these aspiring contestants. Please do not forget that these contestants have come here with lots of dreams and relying completely on the janta to decide their faith. If we can vote for incompetent politicians then why not vote for talented singers? I know when it comes to voting preferences become very subjective but still want to say that vote only and only on the basis of singing and for deserving contestants. Today, it is heart wrenching to see Indian Idol contestants like Karunya, Amey and Meenal in bottom 3 while other undeserving contestants are pronounced safe. Am I endorsing these three contestants? Yes, I am because I know it will benefit me later when I sit to relax and decide to listen to some good music. At the end of the day I will be contended with what I did. PEOPLE, please vote for these candidates.

I can't vote either. 😭 But yesterday's episode proved that people aren't voting for singing or even X factor and performance which are secondary to singing. I endorse the three contestants you mentioned as well...why? Obviously, because they sing well and have what it takes to make it the top 3. I wouldn't mind spending money to buy their CDs or attend their lives shows because they and their talent are worth it.

The problem is WE think those people are wasting their money voting for incomptent contestants. They'll never think the same, for them their choice is always right.
