agree with you lovlina and just-honest,I feel that sonu is really feeling the heat and looking very very uncomfortable.last year indian idol was a novelty. now everyy one has caught up.
EVEN FAME GURUKUL had very good singers arpita(srgmp winner)kirti, ruprekha(srgmp shd hear her version of "Chupke se" and "ae mere watan ke logon"- javed, shankarand kk -perfection),arijit singh, rex'dsouza(his dholi taro -debo not even close),shamit, mona bhatt, anubhav all these sing much much better than most of II2 contestants.

where do I start with srgmp.I watched for 10 years and know all the almost all the singers(and their songs).hemachandraa is my latest heartthrob 😃 .they have everything-- sing, perform, look great-twinkle, himani,ujjaini,paresh,sharib.....can give any one competion.look at the SRGMP stage(wow),set and the crowd enthusiasm!

when I see the judges sitting huddled together(with guests) without any elbow space ,i wonder....

in srgmp tabu, priyanka and others sat in their VVVip chairs as esteemed judges in front alone and singers sang for them.here an extra chair is pulled for them.
small details, but make an overall impact.will a subhash ghai sit on the side?

II2 better do something and fast.trps of 2.3is reason enough to worry.it even fell of the top 100 list!

Ankita, I agree with you but my point is different. The stage and set are perfectly fine in II. In fact, I like II more than srgmp b'coz I know lots of politics are played in srgmp and may be more than we can imagine but talent is not affected whatsoever. I wudn't like to get into the details of it. My concern is only for II. Indian Idol should not follow srgmp's footsteps by creating all that unnecessary drama. I wish they focus on talent as well like srgmp. If this is the qlty of participants we have now barring a few then I can imagine how it would be in the following seasons. My suggestion is to change the strategy of getting the best in bottom 3 to increase TRPs and voting. They ought to be more creative and innovative in promoting brand II.

I second you Lovlina but I think judges are equally responsible for this.

How can sonu be so harsh on Monali and leave ravi and sandeep with some mild remarks.Later in the results episode they give their clear verdict asthey did for ravi and panna this time and pointed out the weaknesses.

Anu who was proud of Antara ,in results episode found antara not very impessive.just cant get their mindset too.
I feel the voting patterns in India are more region oriented too which could also be a reason to unfair voting out.
Thoug i m not in india but heard of this region based voting and can relate to this pattern as an asian.

U r right shimmeryf. Unfortunately our country is prone to such favoritism on region and caste basis and in the bargain talent gets a hard hit. Sad state of affairs.

lovlina as long as karu n amey r there in the show, II wont become a failure...but yes after seeing the voting trends it doesnt look lik both of them r gonna last as long as panna, ravi, sandeep....The reason SRGMP is referred to as the best singing show is coz the main emphasis is on singing---if u dont sing well u'll be masaccared by the judges....

We cant help but accept the fact tht favouritsm, sympathy voting n even regionalism all play a role---but at the end of the day, only true talent survives...i cant see a sandeep, ravi or panna lasting for even 2 years in the music industry---but yes, i do see amey, karu, meenal, antara managing to get a break in2 the industry....

Maybe by having celebrity judges with a musical background, eg. Rehman, Adnan Sami, Sunidhi, the standard of singing will be improved...

See sony has tasted success from what they showed in fg. All the drama and editing going behind the scenes.

They promoted Qazi as an underdog and he went on to win the competition. They got lakhs and lakhs of votes through him. Hence sony realised they have to promote the underdog.

Here the underdogs are Sandeep and Ravi. In II-1 there was Ravinderpaji. We lost two good singers there as well like Rahul and Aditi. So they are keeping the underdogs safe and putting the good ones in danger.

Also there is regional based voting. All want to support people from thier states so that they can say Indian Idol is from our state no matter how they sing.

And besides they want to provide shocks. Besides there aren't many voters left because people are tired of voting too. These votes cost money. How long do you expect Indian junta to vote?? There is an overdose now.

Great post lovlina. 👏

You're right, we have diamonds in II2 and then we have cubic zirconias. Many people have mistaken the cubic zirconias for diamonds and continue to support them. Both are stones but of different value. Diamonds continue to sparkle, shimmer and shine despite adversity and odd voting patterns. Sooner or later, the face value of the cubic zirconias will come out. If its too late, we'll have to settle for something less precious than a REAL diamond. Its upto people to make out the difference btw diamonds and semi-precious stones. They can chose to look the other way or they can support true diamonds. Why settle for something less? As they say, a diamond is forever. 😊

fact is whether it is a hit film or hit tv show THEY are the overall winners in every sense.they get backing of producers, sponsers and innumerable extensions.indianidol had a trp(TAM) of 5.7in january last year(i didnt take feb as II2 started late and it wouldnt be fair )this weeks trps is 2.26.now that means about half the audience is lost 😕 .the week arijit singh was voted out trp was 5.5 and KATYAL said that 47 million people watched that episode.so about 20 mill. watch this show
more importantly on thursdays and fridays FG clashed with THE KAUN BANEGA KARODPATI!!!I think katyal changed the earlierII timeslot of 9.30 pm to 8.30pm to keep the momentum.they even had a "dus ke dus " to keep the slot for II2. but even then 10 ke 10 did better.
whatever the reason is II2 has to reinvent itself.
'american idol' on its 4th season is still NO1 show in U.S. and they are only in the preliminary rounds!!who cared about fox TV before that?II2is not even top 100 😕
