Abhijeet Sawant book
Last evening saw the launch of Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant's first book, 'Aapka Abhijeet' at Crossword in association with Popular Prakashan. The book was launched by well-known singer and television anchor Sonu Nigam, who has had a major influence in Abhijeet's life.
On this occasion, sharing the limelight with Abhijeet, Sonu Nigam said, "This book is an inspiration for many others like Abhijeet who are on the lookout for opportunities to make a mark and create a space for themselves. The book deals with different factors that made him a celebrity. It maps his journey right from the time he almost did not make it to the auditions, when he left his place to fill up the form and was not allowed to rejoin the line to be with his fellow contestants. The most formidable contestant who emerges against Abhijeet in the story is Abhijeet himself."
Also speaking on the occasion was Harsha Bhatkal, Publisher of Popular Prakashan who said, "We were eager to publish this book because it has a message; it can reach out to all talented individuals hidden in some part of the country. The book shows a ray of hope to many who have a dream and are willing to stand by it till it comes true."
Abhijeet said, "I can't believe where I have reached today. So many people helped me to get here. I hope that with this book people realise the struggle thousands others and I go through to make a niche in this industry."
Aapka Abhijeet is the story of an ordinary boy who dared to dream. A boy who held on to that dream even in the face of all adversity. This sensitively written story brings alive a lonely childhood spent with a passion for cricket and a terror of all academic achievement. It's sprinkled with humour; there is the family's annual TV ritual of watching beaming merit toppers of board exams, of his parents' fantastic academic expectations from a son who falls ill at the very mention of exams.
The book will be available in English and Hindi at all leading bookstores.
