Vote Sreeram: Locals strike up a chorus
HYDERABAD: Local Hyderabadi lad, M.Sreeram Chandra not only managed to croon his way into the hearts of the people but also into the top five finalists of Indian Idol 5. Sreeram, who has sung for a few Tollywood movies, bursted onto the national scene with his Indian Idol debut and surprised everyone with his consistent performances episode after episode. The singer is a hit with the judges too and performed a song with the Bollywood music director duo Salim- Suleiman. In the past too, a local singer Karunya had managed to reach the finals of Indian Idol. North Indian contestants usually are considered to have an edge as support in the form of voting is very high in that region as compared to south India. On Sunday, Sreeram's father, along with a few young playback singers, held a press meet and appealed to the public to encourage the youngster by actively voting for him. "If Sreeram has to win the Indian Idol title then it can only be through public voting. He has been performing really well and I request the public to help him by voting for him," said MSN Prasad, a high court advocate. Young singer and one of the judges of a TV reality show Super Singer, K.Krishna Chaitanya felt it is time the title was won by a Hyderabadi . "I have known Sreeram for seven years and he is my very good friend. I am very happy and proud to see him proving himself in front of the national audience. I have been following the show carefully and he has been giving some amazing performances. Let us vote and show our support to him and make him the winner," he said. The speakers opined that though Sreeram's performance is being liked by one and all, their reluctance to vote may prove costly for him. Other playback singers who were present at the meet to support Sreeram included M.Parnika, T.K.Pranavi and M.Deepu.
