Finally the discussion is over! I knew someone would eventually need to stop to get something to eat or use the toilet.

I was waiting for them to stop. 😆

I usually do not read if any comment is more than one paragraph.

Madam,
My point exactly. That's why I mentioned if he was good enough he will be noticed in time just like they were. SPB was not born as THE SPB. Nobody begins big as you rightly said, there are rungs and what I am saying is he was already on the ladder maybe at a lower rung. If he is not good, nobody can save him even if he wins II. Only time will tell.
What my issue is that there are very talented people trying to reach the lowest rung and that is the spot our guy took. Sony should help these people trying to reach the lowest rung first. Can you for sure say that there was nobody in the auditions who was talented enough for the top 17 other than the ones finally selected? Each seat counts.
By the way, thanks for the "rung" analogy, it helps visualizing this issue even better 😃

Your point would be valid if there was any decent way of identifying the lowest rung. For example, Shivam trains with Suresh Wadekar. In this case, he is training under a reputed Bollywood singer. That might lead a lot of people to vote for him and it is an indirect endorsement from Suresh Wadekar.

And secondly, what should lower rung singers( not the lowest) do if they feel they are stagnating in some place. What frame work mechanism is available for them to get ahead if shows like Indian Idol abandon them.

And thirdly regarding the vote base, the format of II and the nature of it is that you need to acquire a voter base to win. A north Indian like Rakesh or someone like Prashant Tamang will acquire it by being from a particular region. However, he will have the disadvantage of being an unrecognized singer. A south Indian like Sreeram will not get the support of the North Indian masses. Instead he will make use of what little popularity he has in his own area for the purpose.
I don't think you can hold it against a contestant when the format of the show demands that very thing.

LOL, no issues. I don't want to discuss 😊. Everybody has said their peace. I don't agree with you all but decided that nothing was worth going over the points again and again. You believe in something and I in something else.
I am not holding anything against any contestant but against the selection process. Enjoy the contest.

I am rooting for Sreeram and Rakesh too! I liked Rakesh right from the first gala...and Sreeram is quite a perfect singer.
