Sreeram comes right next after Shivam. However, Sreeram's greatest advantage is that technically he is far superior. He has attained a level of flawlessness in some songs.
The two of them are evenly matched for me. I prefer Shivam because personally, I find his personality much more vibrant and suited for a stage. He has the attitude of a stage performer. His voice quality is more unique. Moreover, he is still learning. His technical limitations are not the end - he has it in him to improve a whole lot more. Those who prefer consistency and more mastery over singing, would find Sreeram better than Shivam. The only reason he is my second choice is because he has an introverted quality and smoother voice that makes him better suited for playback rather than a performance singer.
Rakesh is not versatile. Perhaps he does have the potential to be versatile, but he has not given himself the opportunity.
Amidst the girls Tia was more versatile. She could carry and fulfill many different songs. Tia's problem was lack of confidence and self awareness. I don't think she knew how to aware of her abilities, how to hone her strengths and overcome weaknesses. She had some really 'bang on' moments as well as plenty of 'WTF' moments. Going by her 'bang on' moments she could have been competition to Shivam and Sreeram if only she had gained confidence, so she could focus on singing and improving on it.
Bhoomi appears least versatile. However, to give credit to Bhoomi her lack of versatility is not completely her fault. Her voice is more alto-contralto and the set of compositions genuinely adaptable to that range to sound good is very limited. In fact given her voice type, she has to be the most impressive of this season for having accomplished songs with that range. The effort on part of her vocal range is commendable. That is why the low pitch jazz style songs suit her more. Most desi music is for softer female voices, she probably will never be successful as a playback singer - but more as a pop star who can have compositions written for her or use pitch correctional software. She would be better suited trying Alto songs like some of Ashley Tisdale, Miley Cyrus etc.
Aww and why do people criticize Ankita so much. Ankita was awesome. One of the best things that happened to Indian Idol. See there are singers and then there are performers. The singing department was low, but when it came to performance Ankita has been the best I have seen in any reality show. She had confidence, poise and ability to take on the stage fearlessly. Her voice was not too shabby, nor was her technique poor for an untrained singer. She could have been groomed under good tutelage. Even some of the best singers cannot perform or entertain. Confidence and presence is a talent that really cannot be taught at all - it has to come from within (something Tia will also suffer from). Singing skills can be trained. Now I am not saying any confident tone def person can be a worthy popstar (of course some are just that) but Ankita was by no means completely tone def.
SO was Rafisaab if I might add..😃 At times he does not get his dues...There was "Click" happening between RDB, KK during 70s-80s...And still few songs had to be sung by Rafisaab...Example movie "Guide" I won't go in details as I dont want bashing or fights...😳😃Originally posted by: bhinder.kamboj
I feel No one is a versatile at a moment in II5.. In III3 I felt Amit Paul was close to that But this time whenever someone is trying to go out from comfortable Zone .. s/he trembles and make a huge mess.. No Comment about Shreeram As he is already a professional State Singer.. I can't understand why judges keep on protecting Shivam?? His voice is just too rough ..I never felt his voice giving sweet feeling and taste .. Emon from II3 was way too far better than him.. Swaroop is good at his zonal level but he really needs to work hard in order to improve himself ..he is not consistent with his performance level... Bhoomi is just another example of hyper... people always busy in cursing Tia ... is she better than her?? I don't really think so.... repeating word of someone (Ankita 1 and 2) .. We have singer like Bhoomi in industry who are far better than her in high notes and galla fadho Songs..Rakesh is bit allright but why he always try Romantic numbers?? If he got something, should come forward with that.. In few Words, Nothing Big This Time..Kishore Kumar was one of most versatile singer i have ever seen.. If he is singing for self he is Ashok Kumar, if you Amitabh he is Amitabh ..Just superb!!!
