Note:

Though this wasn't exactly her debut, this was the song that took her to new heights and she was a recognized name after this song. So it was her first big hit. After this, things were good for her.

I really enoyed Richa's singing here. She showed some great control on her voice through the harkats and high notes. Her voice quality is beautiful. And she brought in a great spark to the song with an attitude that perfectly complemented the lyrics. Great work!

Marking this is rather difficult. Her singing was faultless to my ears. The harkats and high notes made it sound difficult. I would say an 8/10!

Wow!!!! How can I even judge her singing? It was really, really feel the rustic voice flowing through your ears and also, there was a particluar mood to this that she conveyed effortlessly! This song had many high and low notes, and she sung those wonderfully!A 10 from my side!

It was a difficult song, the singing was faultless (accoridng to you) she handled the difficult portions well, and everything was great. Usually on all your posts you give a reason why they weren't perfect or 10/10.

So I'm wondering, why exactly did she get an 8? What was it that took her down 2 full marks? I highly recommend you listen to this again.

Her high pitches were great, great harkats, some parts were quite difficult, tough lyrics than usual, and as you said faultless. I mean, I would understand if you didn't give this a 10, sometimes a 10 requires something to totally move you.....but not even a 9??? Wow. I'll be really looking closely to see you give even a 9 in this competition, and make sure it's better than this.

Good luck staying consistent with the standards you just set yourself up for by giving this an 8!
And please listen to this again too to maybe then realize how great it truly was.

I think maybe xobile set 8 as the highest he will give in this competition. I mean, like I said, I would love to see a 9 from xobile from here on out.

In xobile's own words:

Richa had great voice quality, great voice control, great harkats, great high pitches, great spark/attitude/expressions, matching and singing tougher than usual lyrics, faultless, and all of this on a difficult song......... and.if that doesn't even get you a 9

Wow

😆

I mean a 9. Not even a 10. I'm just talking about a 9. Come on.

I gave it a full 10.

A point to remember here is that its not easy to sing a composition which has fast rhythm and tempo, especially from a masterstroke genius like A.R.Rehman and wonderful Lyrics by Anand Bakshi. But what makes it really special after listening to Richa Sharma?

Voice. Its refreshing, the throw is high and you only need an "expert neck" to do that.
And most importantly, unique and at every verse she compliments sukhwinder singh well.
Second, control of breadth. This is a pretty fast track and the way she times her wordings with respect to her breath intervals, meaning the gap between singing and breathing, is simply scintillating.
Third, this song itself is easily one of the best "modern era classics" churned out by bollywood, thanks to the showman Subhash Ghai.
His films have something refreshingly different in terms of music and Taal is easily one of his best creations ever.

Haha good point. The only thing is that I never said it was a difficult song. For me, this song is as difficult as 'Pyar Hua Chupke Se' by Kavita. SInce Richa did justice to the song, she gets 8/10, jsut like Kavita! You see, the song had an emphasis on higher notes and harkats. If Richa had put as much passion as Sukhi in this song, she may have surpassed even the 8 barrier, but she did'nt. Other elements like holding noes, finishing notes, other types of voice projection, low notes, layakari - these were all missing, so the song wasn't THAT difficult. There were places where she was 9 but not all throughout, so it's an 8.
I will definitely give 9s and 10s when I think the songs are even more difficult and employ various techniques. As of now, the highest scope of these songs (for the female) has been 8 in my books.
But you are right, I should have included all of this in my review! 😆 I think I was too sleepy and in a hurry 😳

Beautiful composition and worthy singing!

The rendition captures the pain so beautifully and takes you in a trance! Its a perfect duet where neither dominates and the listener swoons along!

From me its a perfect 10!
