Mintyblue, I was also frustrated when Shini got out. Believe me I was. You make some very good points about how Torsha was good in the piano rounds. I definitely agree with you there especially about her voice texture. The thing is I don't know if anyone watched last year, but I actually liked Charu's performances alot in the piano rounds. But in the gala rounds she faltered quite a bit so she got out and gave one heck of a farewall performance. But I still think she deserved to get out. Speaking of Charu, I found a cute performance of her and Chang.

Leaving aside the personal stuff from Torsha's end, she has got many chances and failed to deliver I feel. But I think she is a better candidate than Kapil for sure, but I doubt we will see her in the finale unless Rajdeep's fans decide to vote for her.

First things first, I don't care how "un-Indian" you think Kapil and Sourabhee are, they were "Indian" enough to get into the show, and that should be good enough for you. Having said that, I don't deny the presence of regionalism, but such generalized and biased statements are not tolerable.

I'm so upset today, I cannot believe that Rajdeep was kicked off. He was that one hope of the show that was left. That one light at the end of the tunnel --- who knew that that light was just another train coming, right? That guy is so awesome, his performances were never weak, never lacking, from day one, he's justified his presence in the show through sheer talent and sincerity. He's been my favorite ever since he walked into the audition room with that smile of his and ever-so humble attitude. His rendition of Sonu's Rabba Mera Rabba is heart wrenching, I really hope he makes it big one day. Such talent should not be ignored. Despite all the fan following around him, I wonder why he was kicked off. What more is the audience looking for? Is good singing, good personality and humility not enough anymore?

I continued watching the show thinking that its okay that all these more talented singers are getting out and less deserving ones are staying, as long as Rajdeep's in the game, I was so sure that he'll bag the title this time.

Anyways, let us give a round of applause to Rajdeep's talent and his humble exit from the show.

Moving on to the singers that are the Top Three (despite all our grievances)...

Kapil: That guy cannot sing. I salute him for being a soldier, I respect his patriotism, and I appreciate his humble personality, but his singing just isn't up to the mark. He loses focus, his voice quality is extremely lacking, and his grip and knowledge of music is no where up to the mark. He should've exited today, not because he's not "indian" enough, but because it really should be talent that's being looked at.

Sourabhee: That girl has been quite consistent and carries herself well. Her spunk is an additional bonus to her overall image. But her singing isn't something I connect with. Her voice quality is very lacking and nothing original or unique. I'm not saying that she doesn't deserve the Top 3 spot, but I do feel that if some of these other singers that were eliminated early on were given a chance, they could do as well as Sourabhee, if not better. Having said that, kudos to her for making it thus far, and may she battle it out in the end with all her strength.

Torsha: I have so much to say about her. Torsha is the epitome of a female Indian Idol -- she has the personality, the mannerisms, and the looks to become the female Idol. What she's lacking is the singing. I love Torsha's voice quality -- its extremely unique, and a huge asset to her overall package. However, she has not learned to use that to her advantage. Her voice requires certain kinds of songs, and she's failed to pick those songs that will suit her voice. Her lack of confidence is a huge turn off. And so is her over-confidence at times. She's played both games so far --- the "bechari" act with her "i'm-trying" attitude, and also her "i-don't-care-what-you-say" glances. Neither's played out well on her end. The problem I have with her is that she hasn't shown us who the real her is. She seems to be trying too hard at times, but always on the wrong things. And although we want her to take the title, because she has the potential to be that female Idol, we can't deny that she hasn't delivered.

Regionalism is a huge problem in public voting reality shows. Its quite unfortunate actually, but apparently there's absolutely nothing that we can do about it. So, I won't get into that, it just makes me sad that we have to sacrifice talent simply because someone's from the same state as us.

By some miracle, I hope that Torsha gets her act together in the last few weeks and truly delivers. If so, I'd say she's fair game for the title. If not, give it to Sourabhee, so far, she's the best pick and most deserving of the three. Having said that, my guess is that Kapil will snatch the title from the gals and Sonali will be left chanting her "female idol" speeches.

Sorry for the extremely long topic, had to get this out of my system. Geez, I still can't believe Rajdeep is out. It breaks my heart to see him go.

i agree completely with you about everything. it's like you took the words out of my mouth.

I had to, or you've told me to keep the change. And that's usually my line. 😉😆

I myself am not capable of this and oten get carried away by strong emotions which I regret later. That's because one does get emotionally attached to the contestants. I for one loved Shini's voice and shared sonali's frusteration at her early exit.

I agree we should not balme other contestants. Its not their fault if they get votes. Also at times I feel channel plays its own games. I don't think the elimination oder isbased entirley on votes. There are certain things the channel may/may not want that comes into focus. For eg- I think priyanka and remo got out despite enver being in danger zone- i found it a bit stargen. def. channel has its own pre-fixed eliminations at times. Votes merely increase the profits of the telecom companies whic sponser the show...
But all said and sone, we cannot deny that certain regions vote for their candidates irrespective of talent. we have seen tat with Prashant Tmang and Prakriti giri earlier. I am not saying its wrong, but it can be upstting when better singers get out due to whatever reaons
Whta I think is Torsha is the best out of the 3. Her voice texture is very good. also she is nervous, at times under-confient I agree. But potential wise she is the best. I rmeber her piano round eprformances 'baiyan na dharo' and 'chura liya'. they were beyond expectations. even the first 2 galas and when she sang 'lambi judai' was exceptional. there she bloomed in full strnegth.
I am not saying sourabhee is not good she is. But if we are looking at compete packages probably Anaya was a better bet. she was an all-rounder, and a better singer than sourabhee any day. So we must not forgte those who are eliminated, and in that context Kpail and sourabhee are not deserving to be in top3....

Mintyblue ji, forgot me already? I'm a GAL! 😆 Thanks so much for finding my post somewhat coherent. I agree, we cannot blame the contestants for getting votes, its not their fault. And I had also mentioned earlier, that although Sourabhee is consistent, and possibly the best of the three right now, if given a chance some of these girls that got out earlier in the competition could've done better, ie Shini, Bhavya, Ananya, etc. Thanks for your input!

Does anyone find Sonali's dumb comedic routine "Is bar Indian Idol ek ladki ee hogi" unfunny? She screeches that multiple times an episode to score her point and would even choose Torsha over Rajdeep because of that. Imagine the hellfire and brimstone if an ugly male judge (Kailash for example) kept on saying "Is bar Indian Idol ek ladka hogi."

Thanks for the clarification, you'd left me a little petrified there.

And Sonali is like a broken record player, the record is stuck on "is baar Idol ek ladki hi banegi", its not just "unfunny", its ridiculously irking now, actually. Her picking Torsha over Rajdeep annoyed the heck outta me, its beyond annoying now. I just want to knock some sense into her head, I swear, that woman and her rantings are so irritating.

Woh Ajnabee, I salute you for your long rendition. It breaks my heart to see your heart broken. I really hope that Sony TV will call you next year to become a judge.
Having said that, let me tell you the objectives of Indian Idol. Indian Idol was meant to be for raw singers who could be honed into good mature singers. Keeping that in mind, people like Rajdeep, Prosenjit, Bhavya, Shini,Kuldeep had no business to be in Indian Idol at all. They should have tried "Saregama pa" and "VOI" which is a platform for trained singers.
Don't you think people like Remo, Kapil,Sourabhee,Priyanka Negi are no match to people like Rajdeep, Prosenjit, Bhavya, Shini etc??
So, the whole concept of Indian idol has flunked. It's good that trained singers like Rajdeep and Prosenjit have been rightly sent out by the janta. They need to try "VOI" and "saregama pa " and show their true mettle there.

Agree with you in totality😉

Why are you guys worriying about it that much? If rajdeep had won this show (or in my case prasenjit), what difference would it have made? It would be good just for your own satisfaction, that the person YOU liked WON... But come to the real world... Things like this just happen get over it please..

But seeing the voting pattern i am sure she is the next to go.

Exactly why I believe she should be the idol as well!!
