Adding extra bit is absolutely okay but what's the point if people are not liking it and can't even bear it. People are finding that aalap unbearable and unnecessary at that place. Afterall this should not happen right? If people are skipping that part then kya fayda. Even contestants are expecting audiance to love their performances.

And it has nothing to do with Arunita or Pawandeep.

Im not comparing them at all

Hope you understand my point

Even I don't like comparing but as the words chosen by others are really depressing so I had to take their own way to answer them. About people skipping I think only people who are biased and cannot appreciate different kind of music will only say they can't watch. If any of real Danish fan says this then I will believe. Iam neutral to him and I don't had to close my ears and had any problem listening it.

Anyway its waste of time thinking about this. By the way just to be clear I have nothing towards Arunitha as I still adore her eventhough iam not a fan. That's why when people target Arunitha also I try writing them back if I see them on this forum. Same here for Danish too. I don't have problems with any kind of music. I just listen it with curiosity to enjoy and understand not to judge. But I don't like people saying whoever they like are best and others are not good.

Do not distress yourself too much.

SMP will be a part of top 5, is an unconventional singer and a rockstar that II has been in search of since it's inception, whether she will win remains to be seen since ours is a Bollywood crazed country and Lata M rules ..... JMO

None of these contestants have anything to support that they are the best. The older one's have had enough time to prove it, the younger lot may still say that they have not had enough exposure.

It is fairly obvious that the vast majority of the contestants will fade away in 2-3 years. A couple may make it in that time. Depends on what is unique or special about them. Since they are here I presume they don't have godfathers in the industry. So someone must want that special quality for something. Salman Khan giving Salman Ali a song because his mother told him to is not it. That does not last because mother will not ask again. Sunny Hindustani got a few songs because of what he brought to the table. Will he become a star? Doubt it.
Are they all bad? No, they fight off thousands to be where they are in this big country. Are some middling by industry standards, or even reality show standards ? - maybe yes, Do we want to call them out as not so good - no. We are not even qualified to do that.
The most proper approach is to say that you like someone's singing and not comment negatively about others. Not commenting is good enough as a "not on my favourite list". But saying things about capability or lack of it is best avoided. It does no good in forums. Just builds up misunderstanding.

I never had a feel that others can win. I know Arunitha is top voted contestant recently but still I think Pawandeep has more fan base. The channel is driven by business not their emotions or favorites in my opinion. Who ever they think can bring them better buisiness they promote them. If they really want to pull Arunitha down they can stop giving her more songs or screen space like they were doing for SMP. They did not do that. May be it's just this episode Arunitha took a back seat next week will be normal in my opinion.

After knowing Pawandeep and Ashish recovered just now from covid still they gave 3-4 songs each shows they don't care anything but TRP. So we need to detach ourselves from emotional connect with our favorite.

Emotion generates from performance. Both of Arunita and Pawandeep are good singers but whenever I listen to their duets, I find Arunita a better singer than Pawandeep in terms of feelings, pronunciation, maintaining tune, throwing and body language. So, if it is noted that the channel is promoting a comparatively less competent singer over the deserved one, a rational person should react. It should not be termed as moved by emotion. This is the logical outcome.

General public may choose singers who can sing songs as it is but for cutting the edge in industry they need to have extraordinary talent atleast in one area which force music director to choose you over others. I don't see any problem with Danish improvisations it shows his talent and courage to try something others won't dare.

I agree with you! I believe Danish is a very unique and powerful singer and he is one of the main reason I started watching idol this season, his unique style of singing grabbed my attention. Music is an art and improvisation is a living practice of that art, and this allows audiences a unique perspective into the music artists creation - Danish’s sargams, alaaps, versatility and different styles of singing, it creates variety and interest.
And he sang both the songs beautifully.

BUT, neither the improvised nor the same style of singing should be judged as having more or less musical or artistic worth for any artist - they (contestants) are all best in their own genre and unique way of singing.

I know Antara Mitra but a lot of others don't. Her discography is not extraordinary. I have never heard of Sreeram Chandra.

The point is not everyone achieves that status where almost all demographics will know about them. Monali showed that promise and did not get the chance. Abhijit Savant was the country's darling, but where is he now? Most reality stars are forgotten after maximum 2 years in the field because the new season contestants replace the old ones.

Salman and Ankush are exceptions because they've signed on IPML and are releasing songs thru an independent music label (Ankush even had a song via Zee Music Company last week and Salman might have one soon) ...and since they are on a show with different mainstream artists, I won't be surprised if they get a breakthrough.

So even after being talented its important they have that star like quality. Monali had it and thus made it, even though she deserved much more. Neha has tailored stardom. But a few form Idol 10 and 11 can make it imo.

It is also because of Idols format and their earlier preoccupation with showbiz type singers. Of the top 10 Bollywood singers today at least 5 took the reality show route at some stage.
The key is to be super talented or super lucky. The failure is to spot the super talented. For this not to happen the shows should be more focused on quality rather than gimmicks. It is not an accident that the Saregamapa platform sends out some of the best talents. They are much more music focused.
Frankly Idol has not yet presented a real star singer. Someone of the calibre of Shreya/Arijit/Sunidhi, let's say. If they have one and that person fails because he/she is not smart then there is that added challenge. The stars I mentioned found space at a time when smartness was not so key. Would they have succeeded today. I don't know. What do you think?

What is going on with Sony? In the last 2 hours they uploaded performance videos of Ashish and Sayli (on IG) but the thumbnail is of Arunita! I could not even find her as a spectator in them!

The most successful singers from reality shows have been Shreya and Sunidhi right? Its important to remember they came at a time when there weren't many singing reality shows. Nowadays each channel has one and even if we count 5 mainstream channels and 10 contestants, it makes 50 contestants for people to listen to. How many can we register?

Also Sunidhi and Shreya were judged by India's finest without any biases and stupid drama: Kalyanji-Anandji. There have been many with the calibre, some even better than Arijit (who is strictly average and a copy of Atif in my opinion), but there are too many to register and remember. And SRGMP is older than Idol so most of the singers they have delivered were before all the gimmick nonsense started. Shreya and Sunidhi are one of a kind, they would've succeeded at any given time of debut.

From Idol, I feel Vibhor, Kunal, Ankush, Ankona, Neelanjana, Avanti and Jannabi are damn good and they all have their own individual personalities to make it big. Kunal is killer at western, Vibhor has the boy-next-door vibe, Ankush has the hero voice and looks (major advantage), Ankona and Neelanjana both have sweet voices and a lovely charm and Avanti and Jannabi can be female performers with a good Indo-Western range.

But they need a major label backing and PR team. Of all the ones I named the first person who I ever register from Idol was Ankush. I did a double take when I saw him, coz there is this charm about him that just pulls you in. Of course him being good looking is a major advantage but there's this sweetness in his personality too. Luckily when I saw his season for the first time in 2020, I realised he was a good singer and has improved loads this year.

So at least these 6-7 need a chance and a good team backing to make it big. In today's time you need to be a good singer, great performer with loads of screen presence, smart dresser with a personality that can be marketed. All these components put together make a singer popular today.
