India Calling Aashish Kaul

Aashish Kaul, who has just entered the track of Sony's Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai, will be soon seen in yet another serial - India Calling on Star One. He will be seen on air from 10 May.

Kaul bags another serial in a span of 10 days

"I play Amy that's Kanika Maheswari's boyfriend in the show. Rohan is actually a married man with a five year old kid, who's going to divorce his wife. It's a very true to life and genuine character," says Aashish.

The actor can be currently seen in Kaisa ye Pyar Hai as Navin Verma, where he is playing a lawyer.

The track of India Calling will take an interesting turn when Rohan enters the scene. Although Rohan is shown to be genuine in his affections for Amy, Chandni will resent their association, leading to a strain in their friendship.
"It's simply because I am a married man, and as she is from Jalandar, she has a different mindset," says Aashish.

This particular track was supposed to air in December, but because of certain issues, got delayed!

Kaul is quite familiar with the India Calling team, as he had worked with Mansi Parekh earlier in Kasauti Zindagi Kay.

Karishma Randhawa in India Calling

India Calling gets pretty face Karishma Randhawa to play Tara Vadhera in the show. While Karishma started shooting for the show from 1 May, she will be seen on the show from 9 May.

.

Karishma Randhawa: Happy to play Tara Vadhera
The actor who is seen in Mahi Ve on Sab and was last seen in Hello Dollie is playing the daughter of a multi-millionaire business tycoon and a Harvard graduate who comes to India to her father's company.
Aditya and Tara connect instantly as they share similar interests, tastes and beliefs, and come from the same background.
"I play a young, energetic, chic, understanding and urban sweet girl who comes to the call centre because her father has some stake in the company. She's not a worker in the company but she comes to learn from the people. It's about how her friendship grows with Aditya. It's not a negative character rather I play the parallel lead and the look is very much like my own self in the show," says Karishma.

The story proceeds with Aditya (Vipul Gupta) totally in love with Chandni but also shares a wonderful rapport with Tara. They grow to become best of friends. Kamini Khanna (Nigar Z Khan), Aditya's bhabhi, on the other hand are keen that Tara and Aditya marry.

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

Karishma Randeva
Karishma Randeva (the former Sonu of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii) is free from SabSony's daily, Maahi Ve. Karishma now joins Shrishti Arya's India Calling, on Star One.

Maahi Ve is coming to an end and Randeva has already shot her last scene for the serial. Says an insider, "The show started with a lot of promise, in December. But things did not go as per plan."

Advance notice

Said Randeva, who played Preeto in Mahi Ve, "Producer Binaifer Kohli was sweet enough to inform me that the show was coming to an end in May. She told me in April, and even added that I could start looking for roles elsewhere."

What's her role in India Calling? "I will play Tara, a new character— very urbane and positive. Soon, my character will share some chemistry with Adi (played by Vipul Gupta). I have already started shooting for India Calling," she added.

Producer Shrishti Arya offered, "Karishma looks very fresh and good. I have seen her in Hello Dollie and Maahi Ve, and she's simply fantastic.
Actually, I had been talking to her since some time, but she was busy with Mahi Ve."

"To begin with, I will be giving about 20 to 25 days in a month to India Calling. Later, I will shoot only for 15 days. That would leave a window for me to take up another show if I want," Randeva signed off.

That's the spirit!

If you thought spirits and the afterlife are only stuff that horror shows are made of, think again! Our TV stars tell real-life ghost stories to Sapana Patil Poojary

Karishma Randeva

This happened at the time of my birth. After I was born, my mother did not come out of her anesthesia-induced stupor. The doctors had been trying to help her regain consciousness. However, when she did come to, she recounted everything that had happened since the time of my birth till the time she regained consciousness. She said that while she lay unconscious, she could see and hear everything that happened around her. She recalled that her body was floating on the ceiling and she could see the doctors trying to wake her up and take a look at her beautiful daughter. The doctors said that my mother had had a near death experience.

Celebs say 'NO' to reservation!

Should the quota system prevail or should merit be the only criteria for admission? This is a question that haunts both the administration and students alike....This system has now started to take a toll not only on the education system of the country, but also on the general welfare of the common people. Here's hoping that this long drawn battle finds its logical end soon.

Riya V Anandwala spoke to a few celebs who were quick to say 'no' to reservation!

Rajeev Khandelwal: I believe in equality, and especially when it comes to an issue of this sort. There should be reservation in no field at all. When I was in college there were around 30 to 35 per cent of reserved seats for OBC and SC/ST. And this happened in all streams which included the Indian Army and other services too. Let everyone compete after a certain level. The basic education should be given to all, but after that everything should be on merit.
Vipul Gupta: I am totally against this entire issue. I believe that everybody should get admission on their merit alone. In the case of medical colleges, we need genuine doctors, we are not in a position to compromise on students who have the kind of intellect required for fields like this. And I have a simple question for the Parliament, if they talk about keeping seats reserved for SC/ST, why are they against reserving 33 per cent seats for women in Parliament? There they want women to enter Parliament on merit!!!
Chaitanya Choudary: We need more reservation for the open category, and if that is not permissible then please increase the number of seats in each and every college. In this case, the middle class faces the maximum problems, for the simple reason that they work hard and have monetary constraints too. It's not at all fair that students who slog day in and day out have to face such problems.

Vishal Singh
: Things have changed to a great extent that now I am in a confused state! It is a highly debatable issue. According to me, seats should be given to students who deserve it, that's on merit. But then I believe that to a certain limit, reservations should be there for underprivileged students, because now a days it's ultimately about money. And there is no place as such where one needs reservation, I think it all revolves around competency.

Rajev Paul: Just imagine, reserved seats for people in NASA? And then visualise the repercussions too! I am totally against this system. It's fine till a very primary level, but otherwise, no. If a girl who secured 97 per cent in her ICSE exams commits suicide because she was not sure about her future, then imagine how the average students must be feeling! Where is India going? Tomorrow, if we need a doctor's help we will think twice before we let anybody touch us - thanks to the quota system!

Watch out for more drama on India Calling

Aditya is aghast at the way Chandni confronted him. Adi gives a huge fight at the boardroom for Kabir and the verdict is that Kabir will not be fired if he apologises. But Kabir refuses to apologise to Kamini. Amy meets Amit reluctantly but asks him to meet her outside the house so they can talk. Chandni forbids her to do that. Kamini strengthens bonds with Tara. Tara and Adi bond with each other. Adi apologises to Kamini instead of Kabir. Chandni accuses him of being spineless and Adi is left staring after her.

Karishma Randeva's working birthday
By: Chaitanya Padukone
May 27, 2006

Karishma Randeva
India Calling actress Karishma Randeva was so caught up with her hectic shooting schedules that she had to cancel plans to celebrate her birthday on May 23.

"Last year, I had a rocking party, with a lot of my friends from television," says Karishma. This time, too, my colleagues thought I would be chilling with them. But I was busy shooting for India Calling till nearly 11 pm that night, and had to call it a day, after pack-up.

Of course, my production unit and co-stars joined me for a surprise cake-cutting on the sets, during a brief break," says Karishma, who seemed elated about her "two advance birthday gifts in the form of new serials".

Grey role

The actress elaborates on her roles. "Recently, I have signed India Calling (on Star One), where I play Tara — a role with shades of grey.

She's a savvy business partner and I share office space with Aditya (Vipul), even as she exudes warm vibes for him. This creates a sense of nagging insecurity for the lead character, Chandni (Mansi) who is drawn to him.

And in her role in Suno Harr Dil Kuchh Kehtaa Hai (Sahara One), Randeva plays a "stubborn, bitchy Nikita Singhania, who, when obsess- ed with something or someone, makes sure she gets what she desires, by hook or by crook.

My stylish character tries to snatch away Rahul (Romit Raj) from Ambika (Niyati Joshi), by creating friction between them," she discloses.

Sweet to nasty

Randeva seems to get a kick from being nasty on screen. "All along, I used to be at the receiving end of the stick, always indulging in rona-dhona. But now, the tables have turned.

This time, I get to indulge in some menacing masti and create havoc. It's great fun, because there's so much scope for improvisation while playing vampish characters.

And I am always dressed to kill, which a positive character would not allow. I am thrilled that I could defy my soft-'n'-sweet image and prove that appearances can be deceptive," she chuckles.
