there were some shows like bepannah which I loved for showing complex portrayal of marriage, infidelity. so I think some shows are capable of that kind of work where they don't go for typical ITV tropes and instead try to showcase the complexities of the real world.

however, mental health and trauma can be difficult for most dramas. so I don't have high hopes that they will take a complex villain route but I think it is cool that mayuri as an actress is showing she is more than capable for it. I can tell in the scenes where she handles the baby that there is lot more going on in her head than what is obvious. if they do go for a more complex villain, then we are in for a ride and a very long arc -- you can't have a complex villain in a short 50 eps or less.

I believe Mayuri isn't for less episodes but it solely depends on how well they can show the complexity of Malini. Mayuri would do a brilliant job but with channels interference every now and then will maker's be able to do the justice is the point.

Now I can atleast think why they have made Imlie so obsessed with Gudiya. It has to do with Imlie's own trauma from Malini. Malini was indeed a big support for Imlie until she turned completely opposite, so in short Malini was the only one Imlie could look upto post her arrival in the city especially after Malini was ready to give up her everything for Imlie. But then Malini is on a spree to snatch everything from Imlie and Imlie is trying to save everyone in the game, be it the Tripathis, be it Babysaheb🤪, lastly her own dadda was sent to jail as Malini shot herself so i think Malini is one of the equal root causes behind Imlie's saviour syndrome. Look at all interactions she is having with gudiya when she is not aware that Malini is the mother and see the change in interactions post Imlie gets aware of the fake paper ads that Malini has handed over to them, then she goes to C house and witnesses the truth that triggers her saviour complex yet again.

When Imlie's saviour complex gets triggerd she hardly sees reason, that's why the ultimate obsession to save gudiya despite herself being pregnant and not giving 2 hoots to whatever Aryan is saying. For her it is just Save Apan Gudiya now she won't be able to see anything beyond that. This makes me scared that post her miscarriage, she won't be able to see the pain Aryan has been caused from her miscarriage and NDE but if she gets to know that the ball was thrown by Malini that will push her saviour syndrome to such heights that she herself will destroy everything in her life and just be focusing on "SAVING GUDIYA" instead.

So, until and unless they bring back AKT to her or there is a devoted lover for her like people were talking about KC who can be the emotional support she needs i don't think her redemption will be possible. Involving therapy might have helped but AC hardly comprehends that her daughter is not evil but sick. On top of that this is an itv show and the word therapy never exists here.

so I watch way too many of these crime patrol type shows and episodes. am forgetting the word they use to describe someone like anu but she is the classic partner/support/co-dependant. anu would never seek help for her daughter because she is indirectly active in the crime herself. she is getting satisfaction of revenge through her daughter's acts and she is also bitter, angry and frustrated. so rather than get her help or try to steer her on the right path, anu would instead be asking if they can escape properly and still execute some revenge. if you see the way anu frames questions to malini, we can see that happening.... mother and daughter feed off each other's negative thoughts and feelings to get the support to be more elaborate in the crimes...

but yea, none of these characters ever get the help they need....

First of all, kudos to your research and in-depth analysis👏❤️

PPD is as much real as it's invisible in our society. People in our society have at least started to acknowledge that there are conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and traumas if not accepted or have full knowledge about. Unfortunately PPD is not one of these. And it's scary

Now coming to the question whether cvs will explore this aspect or not? Well the chances are none after the absolute mockery of PTSD and survivors guilt in the show. I don't think the writer have anything this complex in their mind about their own characters let alone showing these nuiances. Their protagonist is a walking talking package of many psychological issues which they're not brave enough to address that is if, they are aware of it at all😆

Besides the villain or vamp on ITV is always a psychopath killer sometimes with a pinch of funny one liners. That's it. But Mayuri's performance is commendable. She's adding these layers which prompt us into thinking if there is more than meets the eye👏

there is a super complex web of relation between malini and imlie. they are also quite simliar in their destructive tendencies. just as imlie has some sort of tunnel vision and obsessive tendency (in being a saviour complex), malini has tunnel vision and obsessive tendency on the dark side where she is obsessing over her past and wants revenge.

if it was one of the regional shows targeted at the older audience, the women would confront each other royally and have massive arguments over their pasts where they nitpick everything apart. the TRPs would be through the roof as we have weeks of back and forth. then we would be able to see how these two women are negatively triggering each other to destruction.

however, I feel like the writers are really afraid to have these two women confront each other because they are afraid to trigger fandom. the CVs here seem to be afraid to discuss the first marriage with aditya. not sure if they are afraid of ticking off arylie fandom or just making imlie look bad. however, since TRP is contributed by aunties, I don't see why they don't go for the arguments and lay it out openly on how their toxic history is affecting both of them.

for me, malini is very easy to understand whether they make her complex or just straightforward villain. either way, her motivations are super easy and we don't need to think about it so much to get what is going on.

whereas, imlie's actions are perplexing and the obsession for gudiya has half the fandom confused. I still don't get how she is obsessing over a baby when the two sisters hate each other a 1000 times over.

kekeke.. no ofcourse not, if depression had all of us turn into psychos, society would fall into dissarray more than it is already. 😅 but mental health issues and crime can and are often interlinked. the issue in many such crime shows is how does the law then interpret culpability and how much of a penalty to give. I watch a lot of crime patrol type programmes and so I have interest in that kind of area and questions. 😊

you won't believe but I actually learned about PPD through a drama forum. like I shared in my starter post, this lady had shared her experiences and it was my first time really learning about how postpartum depression plays out. I was vaguely aware of PPD but I don't think I really understood till this lady shared her experiences. so it was one reason I wanted to make this in depth post -- maybe it would be helpful for others to understand why malini may be doing the things she is. I also learned a lot through the research.

the drama teased us with aryan and his trauma and they might be doing the same with malini. but I don't expect them to explore it really well either and just instead go the route of a psycho malini who is hung up over her past. whichever arc they take, mayuri is indeed rocking it out of the park.

I'm just thinking how will it play out if imlie were to "cure" Malini's depression

... Maybe put the baby in a ring of fake fire and do sexxy rolls stopping aryan from getting to his little miss 😆

But coming to the show, i don't think they are even hinting towards any sort of depression amd honestly i have not been able to see mayuri display any nuance with respect to this..i probably need to watch again.. . But to me She looks outright unhinged at this point. Just evil with a victim complex

kekeke...please no random imlie techniques for cure. smiley37 🤣

realistically the only cure would be jail. 😂..

I was also leaning towards malini just being unhinged but it was the scenes with her and baby that had me thinking if depression was playing a bit of role along with a need to burn the world. something about the way she conveys empty sadness in her eyes.
