does anyone else find the use of old 90s music distracting? I feel a bit irritated because I feel like it takes away the arylie magic where I am not able to enjoy the slow romance. why not play jaaniya in the background? why not play those melancholy BGM? or just create something new. 🤷 rather than feeling arylie, it feels like some other old movie I am watching -- it does not feel even a single percent true to imlie or aryan. as a result, I am struggling to connect and fangirl.

something like this packed so much more punch rather than those random old songs.

It was a homage to the late Lata Mangeshkar. If you notice all the female parts were sung by her. A disguised promotion of the new show about her on Star Plus and probably prompted by the channel. Imlie is followed by a rerun of Anupamaa here and I noticed they were using her songs too so it it could have been something asked from most if not all Star Plus shows.

I don't mind the songs honestly... Everything works for me I'm very easygoing 😊

I definitely agree with you. I just cannot relate the situation and the songs they have used in past few days.

Tbh, the first time I watch those scenes, I actually cringe a bit 😆 and then rewatching it makes me get adjusted to it.

It could be multiple reasons that's making them choose these songs - as Bea1 mentioned, the homage to Lata ji, they are trying to match more with the lyrics or even maybe think that TRP aunties come from that generation and would rather hear that.

But I would rather prefer the Jaaniya versions, some instrumentals or even the remix/lofi versions of these 90's if it comes down to it. I do like those songs but I'd rather just listen to them and not watch on Arylie 😆

I am fine with any song that has the lyrics matched with their situation. Overusage of their own OSTs might tend to give monotonous feeling sometimes. So, to me using songs apt to the situation, in between, is acceptable.

yea I felt disappointed really. we have a really young couple and instead of songs that would suit them, it felt off. the vibe of arylie didn't suit the music in my view. I hope that once the promotion is finished, they will go back to regular jaaniya versions, some instruments or just their own music...

kekeke... yea, guess I am picky. 😉... really enjoyed the BGM they had used in the last 100 episodes as I felt it added to the storytelling. so it felt very strange to have a tonal shift in music.

I am more into BGM than lyrics. for me, that sets the mood and tone of any drama rather than something with lyrics as there are always dialogues from the actors. so it felt very distracting. I actually liked the pics that folks had shared from the episodes more than the actual scenes themselves. 🤷
