A confused marriage track....An Analysis

Finally Shaadi is done. But, noone is celebrating. Arylie fans are happy that marriage is over. That's it. What would have led to trending on TT as had happened in popular ITV shows, is being discussed just like a usual episode, inspite of a brilliant cinematographical picturisation of the moment. As I had mentioned in many of my posts, it's the poetic way most of the Arylie scenes were narrated that got me attracted to the show. And it was there till the episode Imlie seeks shelter in the temple and Arylie emotional separation happens. What went wrong after that? Here's what I felt about the same.

ITV has a norm of spoiling everything they built beautifully for 100episodes and interestingly, Imlie leaving Rathore house happened to be Aryan's 100th episode. I am not sure. But, what if the channel and PH thought of testing waters regarding Adilie for one last time before deciding on who the end game was to be. And, hence we got the next few episodes portraying a grey side of Aryan, while most of the SS was given to Adilie that week where we got to see Aditya portrayed in a way to garner sympathies from the audience & Imlie ending up with all the foolish harkhatein in the name of protecting Aditya and taking stand for the Ts. As the channel/PH get to know the audience feedback daily (which we came to know 1week later), they understood that their plan backfired and immediately came up with the first Shaadi promo which again had Aryan in a grey shade. And, that too proved them that audience are not ready to accept a grey Aryan. Plus makers would have got to know that audience might not have been feeling any sympathy for the character Aditya probably because the actor failed to convey those emotions to them. Otw, how could the viewers could not feel for Aditya, when it was clearly shown Aryan as the villain trying to destroy Aditya for something he had not done and even when the titular character Imlie was supporting him. Then what followed might be the makers had to act swiftly to not loose more audience especially since IPL was approaching and had to arrange for the marriage track within no time, which resulted in most of the episodes being executed haphazardly except for few scenes from the Holi, haldi and Shaadi episodes. And probably in between all these, that channel/PH would have decided that Arylie is the end game and probably that maybe the reason of the out of the blue post by Fahmaan thanking team Imlie. It should also be noticed that how in the recent days, lots of articles have been coming out on Imlie, Arylie, Fahmaan and Sumbul. Not to forget, rumors also of Manasvi quitting as channel has decided Aryan to be the ML. Making sense to me on why this Shaadi track couldn't evoke the usual celebration mood among both online and offline viewers. Online viewers because, most of us were not happy with the forced part and offline viewers because, they were already skeptical after seeing pro-Adilie episodes and a half-hearted Imlie not ready to complete the sindoor Dan/pheras in the promos didn't go well with them.

I hope the makers have learnt their lesson and will be back to their poetic way of narration and I want to be optimistic after seeing today's mesmerising Sindoor Dan/Khoon bhari maang moments.

You know the track had a lot of potential if they had written in scenes where characters introspect on various points. We needed more scenes like this one:

Arpita freaks out over haldi because of blue aunty's words and Sundar kindly tells her that it is just haldi and there is nothing ominous about haldi -- it is something we use in food and is good for us. I really liked the scene above as it was a transition from the Haldi episode. ❤️

We needed more of those kind of scenes where other characters reflect on what is going on. Whether it is the Tripathy household members worried about why Aditya is unable ot move on and the impact of Imlie getting re-married or the Rathore household trying to make sense of the events or Meethi and her husband talking about the feels of getting their daughter finally married with all the rituals.

Sundar almost gets slapped. We could have had a scene with him feeling down and a bit out. Arpita or someone in the Tripathy family could have chatted to him about his feelings -- stuff like that would have made the event feel more cohesive.

Rather than those large shaadi hall scenes, we needed smaller quieter scenes with just one or two in the room chatting. If they couldn't show bridge scenes with Imlie and Aryan, they could have utilized the other characters -- instead they too were mostly left to just stand there and be present as extra bystanders. I think that is a pity because we have a team of pretty good actors who are able to do poetic scenes well. Why not utilize them?

So yes, I would do agree with you that the writing has been a bit rushed and haphazard. Hard to tell what is the exact reason but I hope the writing team is able to go back to what made the last 100 eps gold.

I really feel this marriage track was a forced one, came out of nowhere. The whole makers, actors, CVs, Director, dialogue writers no one was prepared. Thats why no major music or dance sequence, even in haldi, mehendi or sangeet with no dance and music. Infinite number of twists and turns, two promos, hinting forced or consented, no SS for AKT, no monologues for leads, except Aryan inner self convo. All the characters I felt out of context. whole T clan took a 180 degree turn in their stand, BM/BD intro, Aryan and Imlie out of ckt, SK just guest appearance, Today Meethi dialogue. There were better ways to bring her back to mandap, other than ruining the best mother-daughter relationship. The whole track was forced. They got the feedback that audience will not accept AryLie forced marriage, so somehow turned it to look like what happens in Arranged marriages in Indian society. (No one is bothered about what the girl wants, family decides what is best for daughter and then somehow convinces her. When the girl refuses to get convinced parents jumps in with emotional blackmailing and mothers play the best role in that. I don't say it is wrong, if you are convinced that the girl is not in the right track and has closed her brain down and can't understand what is good for her, as a parent you have to step in. that is what Meethi did today)

Let us see what holds for us in next track. They have to bring back a good gray ckt/villain to make the story forward.Maybe AKT 3.0 or Malini/Anu combo. Story can progress only with AryLie and how their relation moves on, but that alone won't fetch TRP

Lovely post dear, this whole shaadi track made me so feel so indifferent to the show, Good that Arylie are married but at what cost? They destroyed the beautiful characterizations, bonds, relations which they built for 100 episodes for this. If this track was due to channel's intervention then I will say phak u sitara!! This track was so damn exhausting! Arylie had everything, social media craze and good TRP's but because of Sitara's greediness the must awaited wedding felt like a drag.

No one seems to be happy with this marriage including the fans.. Now Imlie is gonna torture Aryan thinking that he is the cause for all this and Aryan is gonna all length to manaofy her 😭 Yes I liked to see Arylie as a married couple and they needed a conflict to carry on but this is not what I expected!! 💔

If rumours are true and Manasvi is not ready to play villain then I would say its high time he quits because he can't act, the makers should have brought a good actor because it was almost sure that Arylie are the endgame and AKT is gonna be a villain. Either they should end his character or bring a good actor for this role. This show needs a villain now or its gonna be Arylie against eachother which I am sure nobody is interested to see

High time writers buckle up if they want to save the show!

Bold - Exactly. Even in today's scene between Meethi & Imlie, before she asks her haq on Imlie and uses the word 'karz' to instigate Imlie, they could have shown how Meethi was scared after witnessing Aditya's psycho behaviour with the wall photos. It would have justified Meethi's usage of words and in some way got less bashing for Imlie too, as she wasn't aware of this incident; hence, her rude reply to Meethi. As far as I know, the main CV Muskan wasn't on leave. Then, what happened that they missed all such nuances which could have enhanced the beauty of these episodes.

I am not that affected by what happened between Meethi and Imlie today. I am not also angry with Imlie for cutting off her ties with Meethi. Probably because I feel that the CVs are preparing for a painful breakdown of Imlie w.r.to Meethi. If you remember the Malayalam version, there we got to see Imlie selling off her MS after a painful struggle between her mind and heart, inorder to arrange money for Meethi's medical expenses. And in this Hindi version, we once got Aryan asking the same question when Imlie had handed over her salary to pay the loan for T house. That time she just dodged that question casually, as she was blinded with her concern for the Ts. Also Imlie putting the Ts on the same pedestal as SK & Meethi has to be course corrected. I may be sounding highly optimistic. But, right now I am waiting eagerly to see how Imlie's breakdown when she gets to hear about Meethi having a terminal illness. Maybe that might knock some senses in her on how wrong she was today to Meethi and probably Meethi during the next meeting might reveal to Imlie on all the situations Aryan had always promised Meethi to protect Imlie from all dangers and probably the truth that he had took Meethi's consent before forcing Imlie through the rasams.😊
