Malayalam version of Imlie was the only serial I watched with my mother and I loved Kasthuri(Imlie), Adityan and Rani(Malini) equally. I could not find any fault in any characters, it was like all were victims of circumstances. I got a sibling vibe between Aditya and Imlie, a few episodes they tried to show confused Aditya, but it was not accepted by audience. Malini tried to get away after realising that Imlie is her sister. But she was totally lovesick with Aditya. I never felt any of the character too much toxic, as in Imlie now, Malini was shown jealous and slightly grey. Dev had more presence. Imli was shown stuck in the wedlock, due to her social upbringing and beliefs that society instilled in her about marriage. But she never fell in love with Aditya, he was a mentor for her. I was a fan of all the three actors. They ended the story like Imlie convincing her Dadda like she is not just meant to be wife of Aditya, she has bigger dreams in life. Aditya and Malini are in love with each other and she only convinced him it is not fair to separate two people in love. Everyone supported her ambition to be a doctor and I still remember the last shot of whole family with Junior Aditya visiting Dr Imlie in her hospital and asking her that it is hugh time she should settle in a suitable alliance. Here when I see Aditya character I feel pained, as I still carry the memory of that version of Aditya. Show was never OTT.

Maybe Hindi audience need more drama and OTT

Anupama regional version I watched a few episodes, stopped in between and now I watch a few clips whenever my mother watches it. It is also more of a solo journey of Anupama after divorce, she becoming a successful business woman. I think there is a difference in Hindi and Malayalam audience. Mallu audience does not like it OTT drama, too much romance, too many festivals. they like to see close to reality. And of course as a Mallu woman I don't see any dire need of a man to complete a woman's life,if she fall in love naturally with one that is fine. Otherwise she is capable of managing herself better

I never watched any Hindi serials, until last year, I started watching SAAKK, a show where a professor falls in love with his student and she changes his whole perspective of him about his life. I watched only for FL, I found too good. It lasted only for 7 months and they ended the show due to TRP issues. Then I tried a few GHKKPM, I could watch only 2 episodes and said goodbye. Later I came across Imlie, as Sumbul and Deba(FL of SAAKK) are close friends and I saw a few clips of her performance in Deba's IG. I got attached to the show due to Sumbul, she is an awesome performer, at 18 year old. Slowly I realised the character ASR is worth watching. I am not a fan of FK, even if he is good in emoting with his eyes, I am still not a fan, I just like him as an actor. I enjoy the way ASR is written and it is the brilliant writing of ASR, with all his vulnerabilities and flaws, I am invested for the show for the past 100+ episodes.

I agree, it is a trap, sometimes I get bored with OTT drama, then I skip an episode or two and come back later

That GIF is exactly my case.🤣 Kitne tezi se bhaag rahi thi mein SP ki shows se. Exactly from the time Imlie started her journey. Though I was happy that SP was coming up with shows like Imlie and Anupama. Bcos, I had watched/am watching the regional version of these shows respectively. And in our version of Imlie, Aditya was a one man woman and inspite of Malini's several efforts to bring Imlie and Aditya together, Adi never for once was ready to see Imlie in a different way. Imlie also never tried to separate Adini, though she for a longer time tried to pull a Meera stunt. But later she realised that her MS was just a piece of jewellery when she had to sell it off for Meethi's surgery. And climax was Imlie becoming a doctor with the full support of the Tripatis and Chaturvedis and Adini having their own little kid. 😊. So, now you can imagine how apt this GIF is portraying my condition of being fooled again to fall into the trap of a TRP based GEC show. Where I have choices of watching much better options. But like Imlie I am not trying to escape this trap. Hope, later, I don't pull some foolish stunt like she did today to escape this trap. 🤣

As I am not sure about the IF rules regarding discussing much about other shows, I won't go into much details. But, I would agree that Malayalam versions of Imlie, Anupama and even SAAKK were/are much progressive in their narration that, I too sometimes wonder why the Hindi version has to be way so different and OTT. Yes, in malayalam shows too, OTT/illogical narrations do happen; but with the characters they are always careful to not cross some limits. For ex, characters of Malini and Vanraj are a much toned down version of their Hindi counterparts. Can't say anything about SAAKK or its characters, as I haven't watched the Hindi version. smiley1
