the intent that matters here,
i know its not good to abuse the festival like that
and i concede that the calculation part was a bit off
but other that the challenge and coloring is part of holi spirit with family.
idk if it makes sense... thoughts?
lets wait for tomorrow to conclude on mehendi
I totally agree on the holi aspect, it's always a game of cat and mouse, irrespective of who, how, when. And yes, there's implied consent to the very act of playing Holi in the first place, so concede that. The "bura na maano holi hai" thing, like you said though, is often used as an uncomfortable excuse for harassment, but that is obviously not what is happening here.
The issue is it becomes uncomfortable due to the way it's framed- which is why I'm more put off by the show's narrative around the challenge rather than Aryan's act specifically. The act itself would have worked fine for me had they not framed it in such a calculating manner. So the issue is with the larger writing, they're not writing Aryan to intrude on her space, they're not even realizing that they're inadvertently causing that.
And mehndi, yaa, I'm down to wait for tomorrow. Just that within the overall slightly triggering narrative they've created here, it's just massively disturbing that anyone for any reason snuck into her room to mehndi up her hands.
To borrow a word from the Gul Khan Cinematic Universe, it's just all very michmichi inducing right now.
