Dev isn't necessarily the one with money, technically Anu is the real moneybags. Dev was a struggling artist who later found fame after painting his Pagdandiya series of paintings. Anu was already rich and married poor for love but got betrayed and became bitter and twisted after. So basically like mother like daughter.
