Chalo I should really go to sleep now... nahi toh tomorrow I will be a zombie đ€Ș
Good night!
Arre I was doing that marriage proposal scene analysis that caught my attention this morning... But I'm unable to see it from neutral perspective and getting on gushing about Rathores....lol
Points that stood out in narmada's proposal to imlie: (ok I tried to be as neutral and objective but it does seem more like me gushing about Rathores đ so advance me disclaimer!!)
#1 Narmada Rathore - didn't even think about matching things b/w them... I mean when u think about arranging a marriage in India everything is matched.... Right from height/community/social status/skin color (sorry, hard fact)/thoughts/nature/horoscope (yes, most importantly)
But naramada was like - and i quote - She should be "samajhdar, smart, saaf dil-wali, khatti-meethi"
I mean just take a moment to admire the purity of thoughts here man!!
#2 arpi - so she knows her mother is all good intentions but does get carried away sometimes so she's the voice of reason reminding that it's more imp that they like eachother.
#3 Imlie - for her perspective timing is very important... She was so lost and disoriented as she's just received dp from adi in response to her love letter. She's in shock and denial... Shock that he would want a divorce and denial that her relationship that she nurtured by almost giving up on her life many times is really nearing an end... The loss of that security of that relationship hurts her more than loss of her husband (anyway she didn't get anything worthwhile from him).
I would also like to point out that imlie's actions in this scene was socially rude (not saying it was not justified... not at all saying she was wrong... Just rude - without taking her circumstances into account that is)
#4 Aryan - he was leaving the scene but also knew that imlie had a bad day so when his mom stopped imlie to talk he stopped as well. - can't read anything here except instinctive concern.
So his reaction on the question was not shown to us ... Only on the response and few things I'll like to point out that:
- the guy didn't even care that it was him being match-made as well - I mean marriage isn't a small decision for anyone, only concerned that it was a bad question at a bad time for her. (Again not reading any feelings other than someone's pain taking precedence over your comfort unconsciously)
- they didn't feel rejected... None of the 3 feels or show any resentment for her No. I mean that's amazing!
I don't know if anyone agrees with me but all humans have big egos (only manner of dealing changes) and zero tolerance for rejection. Even if we understand the reason of the other person we are bound to feel little resentment for the rejection. It takes a lot of compassion and maturity to not let that cloud our judgement and let things go quickly.
And lastly i'd like to venture out to a bit philosophy... What ever we say/think is an energy and once released it keeps circulating around us manifesting in ways we don't even realise... So if the marriage thing for them was said not by 1 but two mothers, it surely is manifesting in the universe somewhere. (I was going to quote Mahabharata tv-serial scene here but maybe it'll be too much...lol)
gn girlies.. i am off to sleep. hope to hv a beautiful episode tomorrow.. bye bye love you loads
At the bold - so true! These two need some major encouragement. At the same time I love watching them dance around each other. They're both so precious in a way.Originally posted by: Exuberant_Soul
Like Arpita said "in dono ko encourage karna padega. Maa theek kehti hai yeh gadhe ka gadha hi rahega. UNB kahin ka."
Are koi in dono ko jagao re jaake.
Also I've noticed a few things about Imlie recently. Whenever Aru does/says something for her, the way she looks at him is like she's trying to find something in his eyes, like why he's doing what he's doing & when Aryan senses that he steps back leaving her all puzzled. Be it the chilly eating scene or when she asked him to say something to cheer her up & even today when she said "tum gussa kahe karat ho?"
And I feel everytime Aryan sees some hope/expectation in her eyes he just builds those walls around him again. I don't think it's bcoz he feels that she still loves Adi. Today she made it pretty clear that her going to T house isn't out of love but out of concern for his family & safety. So why is Aryan not taking that extra step?? Mujhe lagta hai it's bcoz he's scared that he's way too broken/sad from inside that he won't be able to love her as much. I don't think it's about Adi anymore it's more about his self doubt probably.
Aryan needs a reality check as much as Imlie at this point. I really want her to call him out on blurring those professional & personal boundaries as per his convenience but when she asks for something he very cleverly draws those boundaries again. Ab na zyada ho rha h iska.
And totally, Imlie's questioning gaze is so in your face. I'm glued watching it, everytime. And his answering one is always so confident and assured. Like "don't worry". Its beautiful.
I do think though that, if anything Aryan won't be building walls around a fear of not being able to love, but rather a fear of loving too much. This guy is a teddy bear. Paying a strangers medical bills, taking another one into your home. He loved his brother in law so much that his loss still haunts him in such a deep way. He is a very loving and kind person. His walls are definitely a way to protect himself, not others.
Even with Imlie, what he does is not out of any feeling of love, but because he can't help himself. The time will come when he does start building walls, I think it'll be because he is afraid of being hurt himself.
Right?? Something happening here đđOriginally posted by: -tellyaddict-

I love your analysis and breakdown.
This scene really highlighted for me just how kind hearted and âsaaf-dilâ Narmada is. She just approaches the world with just such kindness and openness. Even when she realized her blunder, she was upset - not because sheâd been spoke to rudely or her feelings were hurt, but that sheâd gotten so caught up in her own emotions that she had hurt someone so lovely. And from that moment it became about Imlie and making sure she was okay.
Arpita is very practical and very much a live and let live with kindness personality. Sheâs there for you when you need it but also believes (like Aru) that people need space to make their own decisions.
Aryanâs reaction was the one that surprised me here at the time (although it doesnât anymore having seen more of his character). Like you said, concern was totally just for Imlie.
This is a family that doesnât have ego. They donât centre their feelings in most situations. Instead they empathize with others, until given reason to - they treat others with respect and understanding. They centre the feelings of others in their interactions.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Yeah, Iâm not too concerned that heâll be afraid Imlie wonât be able to love him. Even if she doesnât, heâs the type whoâll still stand by her even if he knows itâll be nothing more. Because he loves her he wonât coerce her or force her into anything.
I do think youâre onto something here, the fear of losing someone you love. He canât lose her. To love her completely, or even a little, and then have something happen to her. Which is why I do think that his realization of just how heâs fallen will come after a moment of terror where he thinks he might have lost her.
And this isnât just losing her to her career, her ambitions, her dreams. I think heâd be happy to lose her to anything that brought her true joy and happiness, as long as he knew she was alive and well in the world and he could from time to time bask in her joy and light. Seems like the Râs have lost a lot in terms of people - which is probably why they understand the value of people and kindness, what he couldnât handle is a world without Imlie in it.
Thanks for the tag! Love this! The way you dissected that scene, perfect. So true about the manifesting. Aparna's prayers brought Aryan into Imlie's life and now it's Narmada is the one that just can't help but notice how perfect these two are for each other. The role all the R's and Imlie played in that scene was just brilliant. And timing wise was brilliant also because now she's "almost" single again. It felt like the future knocking.Originally posted by: SundariP

Imlie's outburst was totally justified, but yes rude. That's how out of it she was. And the R's didn't even care. They both apologized to each other and that was that. I love Imlie's dynamic with Narmada. It's so kind and gentle. Narmada always telling her how cute she is, Imlie's antics, and their broken english convos. I could watch a whole episode of these two just being total nutcases together.
