Hey Jun - so must admit, I am currently enjoying the track very much. Arzoo's characterisation which has been so upsetting for me during the whole Nikaah debacle has been resolved. They are moving ahead with the saaz love story, set against a mystery backdrop. They are slowly peeling the onion, layer by layer, unveiling the deep dark secrets of the Chaudary household. Arzoo and Sahirs relationship is also building slowly and nicely. They aren't rushing it. They are both working hard to understand each other and their love and trust between them is building day on day. Sahir is shown relaxing..being funny..it seems slightly strange, but its perhaps that was always there but got lost when there was no love in his life. I recall the looks he used to give Zaki when he was flirting and joking with Arzoo...how Sahir wished he could do the same...

Now if i stand back and look at where they were a few weeks back in terms of story/episode quality and where they are now, it is uncomparable. They have really turned the whole thing around on its head and taken a serial which had the writing on the wall to one fighting really hard to survive and looking like its here to stay. I enjoy watching humsafars now which i did not enjoy a few weeks back and only endured in the hope things would improve and to watch Harshad Chopra act.

BUT but but...i do see your point. I have to admit, i enjoy intense dramas. I am a big fan of the original 24 series (where there wasn't a stress-free hour!)...but but but...this ain't 24 :-)...its a love story come mystery, so although i am enjoying the twists and turns, i can understand where you are coming from on this. We watch this DAILY and not once a week, so they can't have it full on all the time. So the issues i see are:

  1. Zaki - he was the guy who provided comic relief when Sahir-Arzoo were at each others throats. I loved him before he wanted to marry Arzoo. I think they need to bring some humour back in via Zaki...i know he might be the one behind all this, but still.

  1. ACP Rathod needs to make better headway in discoveries. He should have known by now that Alvira isn't Sahirs mother. May be he does, but then we should have seen that in self talk. If they make him a little smarter, it will help relax the audience.

3. Whilst this all goes on, work cannot stop. So some office scenes will help as well. Arzoo should get back to designing and the office scenes should show another way of Sahir/Arzoo's working relationship building. I agree Jun, since the Rehman deal didn't happen, either they need to show that Sahir was able to return the money he borrowed as he didn't use it. Or they find another investor and need to work on an order for it. Zaki should also come and say he wants to help and it can be a way for them all to bond again after the awkward Nikaah.

I know its hard to do...we are in the middle of a murder mystery here. I am sure if they suddenly injected a comic scene everyone will complain it looks out of place! :-)...there will be no pleasing anyone! So i think all they can do is rather than creating more complications, they need to have ACP Rathod discover a raaz' each week, build up his storyboard at the office and that will help calm everyones nerves! Right now, he seems all over the place. And Zaki needs to break the ice with Sahir as well as Arzoo, so at least we can see some interaction there as well. I think full blown comedy may just look ridiculous, but certainly less complications will ease the situation.

My personal big issue is actually the lack of attention to detail. Thats irritating me a lot. With Arzoo's dress not getting changed post pool scene, the bottle with POISON written on it, the medical bloopers etc. I like my tv makers to be smart enought to get it right. I like the time on the clock to always be right! :-)...

Give us epis where you see the characters discussing what is happening... give us SaaZ bonding as a couple (and no it doesn't mean they have to kiss or force feed fruits)... give us some Saiyarra scenes... show at least one phone call or meeting where Sahir gets another client and the deal is done. Surely that is not impossible and it will result in us respecting your story a lot more... give us some scenes of Sahir trying to reach out to Zaki... a few scenes of Sahir and Alvira...some scenes of Sahir thinking, questioning and probing to find out who is behind all this.

u know...the scenario which u mentioned above...is something that makes sahir in control of things...as it was in the initial epis...
i donno y...but the cvs have been downplaying sahir's POV ...and last 3 months have been the biggest example of it...and how disastrous it can be...
one things for sure...sahir is the usp of this show...and SaAz r the soul...keeping the tracks from these 2 points of view will definitely fetch positive response!

i felt cheated wen sahir not being the son of the family was revealed thru alvira-zaki equation...
it should've been done thru sahir...his pain...should've prompted aarzoo to find out this truth...aarzoo was already suspicious...they could've shown aarzoo reading his shayri or maybe his diary...and then realising who sahir was!

similarly...the whole zeenat in coma...zeenat in accident thing! a servant gets to reveal all this ? ...like really ?

there's still time...cvs needs to bring sahir's pain on the forefront and help build saaz relationship on it...

coming to light hearted moments...yesterday's shirt scene was a perfect examply of a well directed...light...romantic...comedy scene...
the cvs should write more such scenes...

Lovely lovely post Binu👏.
And Suvi,Pearly.. Your responses are great to read too...😃.

The show has a lot going for it.. True... But it's been mishandled one too many times.. Also true!

The USP was the buildup of the love story and that wasn't given any importance.. It was treated like a nice to have and inserted in between ridiculous tracks like the deal and the pregnancy tracks which went on and on and I am sure drove away a lot of viewers!

This was even before the forced genre change. In fact after the genre change we have had more SaAz and we actually escaped the planned track of Arzoo turning into Sahir which to me sounded disastrous back then!

And humor is distinctly lacking after the initial episodes as is detailing. As Pearly mentioned and Binu even in shows like Hum Hain Na... Not much happens per episode and that's the hallmark of daily soaps.. That you understand broadly what's happening always!
Here they are always in a rush to finish off scenes and tracks especially those involving the leads.

Their main suspense was Sahirs past and they kept it under wraps for too long while showing everything else.. And they revealed so many mysteries that we cannot keep track even. Also, what would be high points are very tamely or atrociously handled.. Like the saaz wedding.. The revelation of Alvira being Sahirs mil and not mother.. The revelation of zeenat to Arzoo... None of these had the impact they should have considering they were supposed to be story changers!

And I agree that they should go easy on the complexities they keep introducing... It stops being entertaining when you cannot enjoy without analyzing.. Simple! The characters in the show should be confused with each other and not the audience with them! Sometimes we cannot conclude on what a dialog or expression meant after reams of analysis then how will those who just watch ever understand? And why will they beat themselves up like we do?

They seem to be getting SaAz right now more often than before but a sprinkling of Saaz in the middle of total silliness in the name of thriller will not sustain interest! They need to build on their strength which is SaAz and the thriller or shocker elements can revolve around those. Basically they need to make the story simpler... They need to check what mysteries they have already and start solving those one by one so viewers feel some closure in the story and they need to bring up Sahirs past to the audience if not Arzoo as soon as possible!

What keeps me hooked is Sahir whom I love analyzing.. Reading about.. Watching..😉.. SaAz... And of course Harshad Chopda... Majorly... And Shivya is doing a very good job as well!

And I really want to know sahirs past and how they plan to tie all the lose ends!

Binu lovely post ..n btw u did not PM me 😭

Anyway first up, even after all the lacking loopholes, script inconsistency and character butchering , 4lions is a ph tht has so far remained awy from the typical saas bahu genre 😡

Tht is one reason which brings me back to them , of course the romance bit n the leads chemistry is AGN a given n they never fail there 😳

I agree when I sit down to watch tv after a hard day at work ...I need an eye candy, some light moments n some Romance n not a weeping door mat trying to Prove her innocence to hwe wicked MIL n Mr. Whimp of a hubby ..I swear I can't take tht AT ALL ..period 😭

And HS will all it's downs is trying to pace up..n I always will support the ones who try n not the ones who give up 😃

Wonderful post AGN 👏

I agree with your post completely. They had a great story line and fab actors, it's just the execution and direction that went wrong. And they should ahve known that trp's would not be high because it is a totally different concept compared to the normal serials

VD I wrote a detailed reply and lost it 😭. typing again. I am enjoying Humsafars way better now than during the pregnancy, deal and nikaah track.
Talking about Sahir relaxing - I thought the scene where he brought Ashrafi to Arzoo was so beautifully done. The shirt scene too. But when they show stuff like the long fruit scene... and make Sahir behave like a man so unlike Sahir... you can see the compromise. They are trying to make him like a regular TV hero. 😕

Now if i stand back and look at where they were a few weeks back in terms of story/episode quality and where they are now, it is uncomparable. Exactly. If i wanted high octane and intense drama I would watch 24 or a CIS or one of those cop shows which makes me feel that every guy out there is a serial killer. But I signed up for Humsafars cause it is a love story. Sure add drama and thrill and make it intense (I love intense)... but don't go overboard. Balance it out.
  1. Zaki - he was the guy who provided comic relief when Sahir-Arzoo were at each others throats. I loved him before he wanted to marry Arzoo. I think they need to bring some humour back in via Zaki...i know he might be the one behind all this, but still.

Yeah I miss the Zaki of old with his cheer and positivity.
  1. ACP Rathod needs to make better headway in discoveries. He should have known by now that Alvira isn't Sahirs mother. May be he does, but then we should have seen that in self talk. If they make him a little smarter, it will help relax the audience.

This is one cop who doesn't seem to be doing any work except jumping to wrong conclusions.
3. Whilst this all goes on, work cannot stop. So some office scenes will help as well. Oh no! please don't add a comedy scene! That would be worse than Arzoo force feeding all the inhabitants of NH fruits. No when I say 'break' I mean lighter moments that give us a relief from the intense mysteries and I also mean episodes where new stuff doesn't keep cropping up... but epis where old issues are resolved. Too many things are left hanging in the air as is!
My personal big issue is actually the lack of attention to detail. Thats irritating me a lot. I am quite a nitpicker too.. but I have given up on that front :)

Above bold and italics - so true.

i felt cheated wen sahir not being the son of the family was revealed thru alvira-zaki equation...

I know what you mean... it is like they are taking the easy and lazy way out of a corner they have painted themselves into. If Arzoo had realised his being an orphan cause she could see through his layers it would have been beautiful. But Sahir is also not the kind of guy to reveal himself that easily! Maybe it will happen with the Zeenat back story that even Sahir says is a paheli!
there's still time...cvs needs to bring sahir's pain on the forefront and help build saaz relationship on it...

Yes - give a few moments for all of us to just sit back and relax.
